Which are better to use to keep up with each other?

Last yr DH would take the boys on thrill rides while I took the girls on calmer rides or to shows. I spent alot of time "waiting around". If we had the walkie talkies to would be a lot easier to meet up with each other.

Thanks for your input.

Cell Phones! You don't have to "share" a channel with someone else! You can have trouble getting through to the right person with a walkie talkie (or you may hear "interesting" conversations!

We have used both, and I don't even bother with the walkie talkies anymore!

We have used two way "walkie talkies" in the past and you can't find a channel not in use. This was our first trip having Nextel. They worked GREAT! Cell phones work great as well.
Save your money you'd spend on walkie talkies, buy something Mickey!:earsboy:

We have used both as well and I prefer the cell phones. We all have Sprint so it is free from phone to phone and we don't have to worry about any extra charges or anything like that. With the 2-ways, I was missing parts of conversations and they also ate up batteries quickly. I could just recharge my phone every other day or so.

Plus, the phones let you go for a larger distance, like park to park or hotel where the 2-ways are much more limited.

We have cell phones AND walkie talkies.

Generally we use only the phones, but one walkie talkie is always in the pocket of our 10 year old DS, who tends to wander. It gives us peace of mind to know that we can contact him, even though he's generally just around a corner or has found a nice shady spot to sit.

Has anyone used the 5-mile walkie talkies? ARe they really good for the 5 mile range?

Do you think they'll work from resort to park? or just good of "in park" used?

I know you have to get a license - that isn't the problem. We got the 5 mile ones thinking it would cover the ground we needed.

Cell Phones all the way...

We have Verizon Wireless, Nationwide Plan. Reception was unbelievable (so glad we dropped T-Mobile) and we got free Mobile to Mobile so our bill was the exact same as it always was!

Another plus is this. "hey you wanna get a PS for 50's prime time... Give them a call and get our names in!" This worked at every resturant, a very nice advantage over walkie talkies

Thank You Verizon!
