Cell Phone Question

I need a new cell phone, but I'm not sure what I need to do. Do I have to buy a new phone through my service provider? Will they make me change my plan?

We used to have service through suncom, and they were bought out by AT&T wireless a few months ago. AT&T hasn't changed our plan...we have the same plan we had w/ suncom. AT&T does not offer a plan like we have for the price we pay, but they've let us keep our plan. I'm scared if I go in there to get a new phone, they'll make me change my plan. All the newer plans are much more than what we pay b/c they offer thousands of night and weekend minutes, which we don't need. There's nothing similar to what we have.

Any advice?

You should be able to just buy a replacemnt phone, Allison, and keep your current plan. The phone will generally be more costly than what you see in the advertisements, as those phone prices are generally predicated on the acquisition of a new phone number/plan. Just ask. Or call AT&T.
