Cell Phone at WDW Question

I am on Verizon with a nation wide plan and also on the family share plan where the three of us share minutes and call each other for free.
This is the first time I have taken a cell phone to Florida.

I talked to Verizon today and it seems that it will be just like being at home, however, the guy said that in Florida I'll lose my ability to call DH and DS for free like I normally do at home. Otherwise, I think everything will be the same.

Does anyone know why that is? Before I could ask the Verizon guy I lost the call and didn't get to ask.

I have Verizon as well and from what I understand, the free nationwide map is a different map than the map where it is free to call the people on your plan. This area tends to be much smaller (close to home). From what I was told, you will not be charged for roaming (since you are covered by the other nationwide map) but you will be using minutes when you call each other. Therefore, if you go over the amount of minutes that you have, you will have to pay overage charges if you call each other, which you would not have to do if you were at home.

Hope that made sense.

I have an alltell family share plan. I guess I better call them to see how it works. We had planned on using our phones to stay in communication.
