We are planning a big family trip in October 2008. My sister has Celiac's disease and I was hoping to hear other's experiences in WDW. We do always make ADR's so our reservations will be set and we will let them know when we call. Any suggestions, recommendations or other info is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!!

Sorry, but I don't have any experience with this but I do remember reading some reviews from people with this condition that ate at DW. It was on
www.allearsnet.com
Hope this helps!

Kim,

Finally something I know a lot about that I can post about.

It took me some digging but I found two contacts in Disney Dining that will assist you in making your life extremely easy going down and enjoying yourselves. :cool1:

Brenda.Bennett@disney.com
Theresa.Joiner@disney.com

Theresa is going to most likely be the one that can handle you best. When you contact her and explain she will forward you a collection of word documents that list eaxactly what is Gluten Free in every park and the locations that will have the biggest and best selection for counter service and snacks. And finally, if there is a counter service on the list and you love it, just ask them and they will see if anything can be done to accomodate your allergies and let you get some of your favorite foods. Sadly, Casey's Corner is gluten central :sad2:

Once you make your ADRs, make sure you note in your ADR that you have Celiac/Gluten disease, you simply email her a list of your reservations and she will contact all of the restaurants and the chefs and inform them of your dietary needs. After that the chefs from the table service restaurants will contact you to discuss your best options from the menu and also inform you of what off menu items they can also do for you.

My partner and I both have dietary restrictions, he is diabetic. And we have decided that Disney is now our yearly destination for our vacations, becuase they have taken all of the worry out of our trips.

Finally, since everyone snacks, I use a online ordering site to by my snacks as they are well below list price on products that are gluten free, everythingnutritious.com

Ask for Joanne and tell her Harry from New York sent ya, and she will take great care of you.

Harry :cool2:

WOW... thanks guys!!!

Harry... that info is AWESOME!!!! I will definitely be contacting them. Thanks again :goodvibes

My DD has celiac disease and we love going to WDW as they cater to her!

Each counter service will have a gluten free menu. Not all of them offer buns for hot dogs or hamburgers though. They usually have cookies (Pamela's brand) or brownies available. Amy's pizza is available at Pinnochio's in MK and it is cheaper than buying it frozen at home. The Rainforest cafe made breaded chicken strips. She can get Mickey Waffles at breakfast even! Spoodles and Liberty Tree (I believe) has pasta.

I know this is a bunch of kid food that I mentioned. But I am sure they will have just as much good stuff for adults.

My DN has Celiac disease and we have been to WDW twice with her. We have had no less than excellent experiences with each restaurant (and chef), no probems at all. My sister usually calls ahead of time so the restaurant knows she is coming and they prepare her meals accordingly. You will be impressed with the service. :) Have fun!

I have Crohn's disease and for teh past month have gone gluten free as I've been reading it helps Crohns. And it has so far.

Anyway, I was planning on just sticking to the usual chicken, beef, vegetables cheese and othe safe foods at WDW.

Do you mean to tell me I can actually get a glutenfree cookie or waffle there? I am amazed and I really hope this is true. Are these items you have to ask for specifically?

I will also email the folks listed above, but your personal experience/advice is valuable as well.

Thanks in advance.

Awatt,

Just email those two great ladies in my previous post and they will take care of you so you can eat "normal".

My DS5 has type 1 diabetes, and last year in Sept., during free dining, we were on a strict carb. count and dining time frame (he has to eat at the same time each day). We had great experiences with the chefs. At every TS the chef came out and spoke with me about my sons diet and prepared something not only for him but for my other 3 children as well. Make sure when you make your ADR that you let them know your dietary needs. You may want to read on the disabilities board, I know I have seen questions regarding Celiac over there. Hope this helps. Have a great trip.
