Celebrity treatment

The original poster said it was Tommy Hilfinger and his family. Didn't his daughter and friend once have a reality show on MTV or somewhere? It was more likely that teens (or my Mom, a reality junkie) would recognize them!

i thank you for sparing me the shame and indignity of being reported to a message board governor. what ever would have become of me were you not so merciful with your reporting.:worship:
:rotfl: oooo you are sooooo lucky!!!!!!!!!!!

SuperTink & Fonzy13, I sooo totally agree with you.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I hope all the complainers/resenters/day ruiners will now never ever read another celebrity blog, webpage nor watch another show to contribute to this great worship we have going in this world.

We seem to follow celebs like lemmings...until!:scared1: - they take up a space or two on OUR beloved WDW rides!!!:rotfl:

Sometimes we humans crack me up!!!

I'm not sure why you dislike me, but I'll offer a deal. I'll ignore you if you do the same.

Edited...on 2nd thought, life is too short. Peace. Sorry to the OP for going so far off topic. :)

You're acting like they did something wrong here. I'm sure they'd love to be able to get on the ride unharrassed and be able to spend the day at Disney with their kids like everyone else in the park. But they can't. It's not them causing the scene, it's the star-struck twits who feel the need to follow them around and take pictures and basically stalk them through the parks that won't allow that to happen.

They're people. I've met a few famous people (or least seen them in public), and most of them seem like pretty nice people. And I've seen how hard it is for them to just go to the theater or walk down a street, and how frustrating that is when they are with their kids.

They're as entitled to spend time with their kids like anyone else, it's just different for them because most people know who they are. Sure, I think Tommy needing to take multiple turns on Toy Story is a little selfish...but I think waiting on line would have caused far more of a scene.
Seems to me that they DID get on the ride UNHARRASSED, and as for spending a day at Disney with their kids just like everyone else..all they have to do is ditch the guide and hope on over into the line with the rest of us, or invest in any one of the books about Disney and learn about Fast Passes and ADRs and hang out with your family instead of some stranger all day.:confused3

Seriously-let them go ahead-i'd hate to stand in line with them watching the mob form and come over hearing can I have your autograph and pose for a photo-getting pushed around...just let them go and be done with it...they get in and get out and we can enjoy our day...I dont get star struck so to me its no big deal-and if a line is 85 minutes-I would not wait anyway...I go off-peak times for that purpose alone. The longest wait for us was 45 minutes-and that was pushing it. I dont think they are "pampered" its a sercurity issue not just for celebrities but for us common folk too. And for all we know - they have called ahead and planned this and they had "waited" for the time Disney scheduled them to come in...who knows :confused3

Ditto! :cheer2: I think it is for our safety, as well as their own, that celebs not wait in line with the rest of us. Can't you just picture what would happen if Miley tried to wait in line? How many kids would be knocked down and stepped on if she tried.:scared:

They chose what they wanted to do. If they're going to take the upside, they can take the downside, too. And if that means they can't go to Disney World, then that's what that means. Boo flippin hoo.

TH may have chosen to become famous, but his children certainly did not. His children should not be denied the right to go to Disney World (a right that ALL of us have, as long as we can afford it :)) just b/c their dad happens to be famous. To force children to "take the downside" is just plain wrong.

I agree w/others. They chose to do what they do b/c they love it. They DON'T choose to have people mob them. It may be a reality, but they don't actually go out and court these people to mob them for photographs and autographs. Many celebrities actually strive for privacy (I am specifically thinking of Reese Withersppon)--the fact that she chose to act for a living doesn't mean she gave up her right to live her life in private.

Perhaps if we as a society could understand and TREAT these celebrities as everyday, normal people then maybe the celebrities could go in public and act like those normal everyday people also.

I have not read the whole thread, but here is my take on it. First of all ,I would not know Tommy Hillfinger if he were standing in front of me holding up his latest pair of Jeans, so the "safety" issue in this case does not wash IMO.

I say, if celebrities can cut to the front of the line for "safety reasons" then I don't see why it is not okay for children to sit out of the line and have a parent wait in their place. In my opinion to say otherwise is saying that a child is somehow less important than a celebrity.

Since I don't have young children I can speak objectively about it. :goodvibes

Of course I can't stand the way celebrities (most of them) act anyway, so maybe I am not so objective lol.

I remember YEARS back when we were waiting in line for Splash Mtn. and the line just stopped for 10-15 minutes--we just didn't move at all. Turns out, Michael Jackson had been riding and needed a log for himself...I can see why these celebrities have to be snuck in...I don't even want to think about the mob scene that would be caused....:sad1:

I doubt that Tommy Hilfiger would cause a mob scene though...;)

 Just let someone un-noticable from the celeb's group wait in the line (( a nanny, security guard (If they really are concerned about their safety)) a family member, or their VIP guide. Than MR or MS **big** can be notified by phone (even *I* have a cel) when their turn is up. That way, they sort of waited their turn. And they shouldnt be allowed to ride any more times than I would be allowed :thumbsup2

Too easy, I guess :confused3

This is a great idea and there are a hundred thousand other ways for them to wait their turn without causing a riot.

And then there'd be people complaining about how CelebX just walked up and cut into the line at the last minute. They wouldn't win either way!

:earsboy:

I don't think that's true. I think it would be clear to the person behind the celeb's rep what's taking place.

we [my adult family of 6] did a 5 hour VIP tour @ Universal in Jan because we had only ONE day outside WDW--and it was SO worth it-- no lines -- and we were ushered into the back of every attraction with no waiting-- BUT we did get some peculiar looks :confused3 who ARE these people and why did they get ahead of us????...we paid above and beyond for the pleasure and i would do it again in a New York minute--- so please live and let live----:thumbsup2

Upthread it has already been explained that the personal guide does not mean front of the line access at WDW. So, no, not anyone can pay for this priviledge.

Everyone here seems to be missing a key issue here: Safety. Not just the safety of the celeb and their family, but the safety of everyone around that celeb.

Ummm...I don't think anyone's been missing that at all. We've been talking about just that for a good number of pages now. I'm not going to recap the arguments. Just scroll back and read.

I hope all the complainers/resenters/day ruiners will now never ever read another celebrity blog, webpage nor watch another show to contribute to this great worship we have going in this world.

You have to understand that there are seriously lots and lots of people who couldn't give a hoot about celeberties, who don't pay attention to the paparazzi or the celeb gossip or all the shameless self-promotion that many celebs do on a daily basis. So, can they at least wait until those of us who don't care about them have gotten on the ride?

TH may have chosen to become famous, but his children certainly did not. His children should not be denied the right to go to Disney World (a right that ALL of us have, as long as we can afford it :)) just b/c their dad happens to be famous. About that...you see, if they didn't want their children to be dragged into the spotlight, maybe they shouldn't have plastered them all over network television.

I can just imagine the scene if Princess Diana had to wait on line when she took William and Harry to WDW in the early 90's.

There are many that don't, and they still get harassed. Did you read the link to the Reese Witherspoon article? She strives to keep her and her family out of the limelight as much as possible, and it didn't stop that guy from harassing them at DCA.

The fact that they chose to do something they loved, and happened to get famous in the process (b/c really, there are MANY more actors in the world who get paid nil than there are ones on the A-list), does NOT strip them OR their children of their rights. They are still U.S. citizens and have the right to their privacy as much as any of us do. They also have the right to be out in public without being harassed.

Well I think I can speak for everyone, I would not be anywhere near that Michael Jackson freak....

I've read this whole thread and two things I want to add...

First, whether or not any person would recognize a particular celebrity has no bearing on whether or not they are 'worthy' of VIP treatment. I don't go to movies other than with my son (7) so I don't know a lot of the more recent phenomenon stars, I listen to country music so I wouldn't know most of the current hot music stars and I don't watch a lot of the 'hip' tv shows (dating myself on that one) so I don't know many of those stars. I'm sure there are dozens of people in those categories that most people would consider risk of a mob scene yet I often open a People Magazine and wonder who these people are.

Second, these people have children who have priveleged lives in many ways, and in many others miss out on the little things the rest of us get to enjoy. Taking a normal vacation is something they are also entitled to as children and having this vacation with their parent(s) is something the children deserve. Same for siblings, parents, and other family members in the group.

I can't say that I would care if I had to wait 2 more minutes for anyone - you never know what someone's situation is. I have not seen any celebs at Disney but I certainly don't think that two minutes more would affect my vacation one way or the other.

A while back at DL we got in line for POTC. John Lithgow (3rd Rock, Harry and the Hendersons, Terms of Endearment) got in line with his family behind my wife and I...just like a "regular person". The frenzy began. There were people climbing over rope lines to get pictures or autographs. They were pushing his kids out of the way. The frenzy held the line up a number of times and was borderline dangerous. Lithgow and his family were very uncomfortable with the situation and kept apologizing to us and the people behind them. I felt bad for them.

That same trip we stepped in line for BTMR behind a Major League Baseball pitcher (I don't remember his name as I don't follow baseball). The same thing happened. People were pushing through the line to get an autograph or picture...holding up the line for longer periods than if they were escorted to the front and rode for a couple of times. Not a great experience. So as far as I'm concerned let them be ushered to the front and ride several times. Believe me it creates less problems and wait time for everyone if they do.

Some of you people want celebs to wait in a secured room until its their turn?

So, Disney should build VIP rooms for all rides???

Like someone said, this happens so rarely that it's NOT a real issue.

I think this thread is getting more play because its about a minor celebrity that could not be picked out of a line up but 85% of the posters...

You may not be able to recognize Mr. Hilfiger but I'm willing to bet hard currency that a lot of others can.

I call shenanigans.

Logs at Splash Mountain are dispatched a lot more frequently than every 15 minutes. :) If there was a delay it likely wasn't because M. Jackson decided to ride Splash Mountain.

Could it have been that Jacko wanted to do an entire run through on an empty ride (no one in front or behind him)?

Riding with other guests near him-especially that many years ago-would have definately posed a safety issue. I can just picture dozens of girls trying to get off of their log and travel through the water to get to his!!
