Courtney - you are I are thinking alike! It was earlier this year - I want to say like March-ish or so - when that celebrity DLR picture thread was running. It started, I think, because someone had met the Girls Next Door (former Hugh Hefner girlfriends, Holly, Bridgette and Kendra) at DLR and then all kinds of pictures were posted with other famous people after that. I COULD be wrong, but I THINK some of the photos that ended up being posted were borrowed from other sources. I am not sure, but it appeared that way. Some were clearly taken by the people posting them, and there was no mistaking that, but I THINK some shots may have been lifted from other entertainment websites, etc. IF I am correct, there could have been legal issues regarding doing that - or even legal issues posting celebrity 'images' in the first place, no matter what the source was. When I tried to locate that thread the last time, it was nowhere to be found! I think it was removed fro DISboards for the possible legal issues that could arise.
I have to admit - that is the main reason why I haven't scanned, uploaded and posted any of my photos here on DIS from when I went to DLR with Bret Michaels back in 1986. I want to, because I figure some people know him from "Rock of Love" on VH1, as well as from Poison. Even though they are MY personal photos and I took them with my camera, I think there could be some legal issues about posting them on a public forum because Bret is now famous (he is no longer "my friend Bret," who I went to DLR with!), and he may have to approve certain images being posted.
I think that is how it works with celebrities - I was just doing some work for one of my clients the other day, and one of the people we were doing work for together had posted a picture of Teri Hatcher on her website. Now, that photo posted was a professional one taken by ABC, so the legal ramifications are different. They were afraid ABC would issue a 'cease and desist' and the picture would have to be taken down. I am not sure if it works the same way if you post your own personal photos that just happen to include a celebrity, but I think it possibly MAY work similarly. Drat!
