Celebrity sightings?

Have you ever recognized anyone in the parks? (other than the Disney characters ;) )

I really don't follow celeb gossip so I probably wouldn't recognize anyone in their everyday clothes and make up, but I figure there's got to be a chance with being so close to LA. Even celeb's kids want to go to Disney.

We saw Dick Van Dyke and his wife being escorted on main street by a Plaid. He was there for the D23 Expo. We also were on rides with Larry King's wife, her children and the Plaid that was escorting them (not sure if she qualifies as a celebrity). :)

On my last trip around V-Day there were lots and lots of plaid around.

We've seen Jorge Garcia (LOST) and Carlos Mencia.

On our last trip we saw Rod Stewart and Bridgette Nielson.

John Stamos with a plaid in November

I kept seeing Richard Kind last June. First with a plaid and later not. As often as I saw him I decided he must be stalking me. :rotfl:

I just looked up Plaids. :) Now I know what to look for. Thanks!

Just a FYI. Just because someone is with a plaid that does not make them a celebrity. You can hire a plaid for I think 275 a hour. Also Club 33 members get a plaid once a quarter for 6 hours. My numbers maybe a little off, but I was just trying to give you the idea. So not everyone with a plaid is a celebrity.

Oh for sure, but it does tell me that I should take a second look. :)

Well one can't argue that. I just posted as a FYI. I thought maybe you were getting your hopes up,if you saw a plaid. That's all. Have a great time. I do hope you see a celebrity are two.

Seal and Heidi, when they were together, and all the kids in tow. I've seen them twice...I think they used to go a lot.

Derek Jeter trying hard to blend in and failing miserably. They took him backstage shortly after I saw him.

Tony Danza filming a commercial.

Michael Jackson, before he had kids, while I was taking a break backstage. I couldn't believe how skinny and pale he was. They were avoiding Main Street and were escorting him to the rides.

I worked at Blue Ribbon Bakery when it was still huge. I was backstage unloading a delivery of frozen yogurt boxes into the walk-in fridge. I had my super long skirt pulled up between my legs and tucked into the waist just like I was trained to do to avoid tripping and falling on the moist fridge floor. I stacked up some boxes then walk to the door that was required to be left open to grab some more boxes. Standing there watching me was Dolly Parton. I froze in my tracks, all sweaty, and blushed. She said, "Darlin', they got you workin' too hard! And what's with the get-up?" while she pointed to my skirt. I told her and she said, "It's a damn good thing I don't work here. I'm clumsy and I'm top heavy!" Everyone laughed and she gave me a hug even though I warned her I was sweaty. She was the most petite woman I have ever seen and she was a genuine sweetheart. That was my most fav moment while working there. :)

Would you ask a celebrity for a photo/autograph if you saw one? Would it depend on if they were with family or not etc?

I might, if we were situated in a way that was conducive to conversation. I wouldn't go racing across the road to accost someone though.

I've met many music industry celebs over the years though working backstage locally. They are all just people and would like to be treated normally for the most part. Paul Brandt bought us pie. :D

My general rule is only if they are sans kids and if they are stopped somewhere so you can ask without running them down. I actually saw Nathan Fillion twice but the first time he was walking around and I didn't want to hunt him down, but the second time he was in line for a smoothie, and was super happy to take a pic. I have seen people try to run a celeb down who is walking and it usually means they don't get anything but a no.

Basically if you are nice and not interrupting their day too much, you can ask, but expect a no.

While you are right about guides with celebrities, your info on Club 33 members is off. Not all Club members get tours. The ones that do are given a set number of tours a year, nothing quarterly, and they are not limited to 6 hours.

Anyone can have a VIP guide. It is $275 hour, for a minimum of 6 hours, for a total of 10 people. And they count "heart beats" for the tours. In other words, while a 2yo doesn't need a ticket to get in the park, they do count when you have a tour guide.

That said, we were on a tour a few months ago when one of the Harry Potter kids and his girlfriend was also on a tour. I didn't know who he was, but as we were all coming off BTMRR, a bunch of teen girls rushed him and his guide was telling them "Sorry, we are on a tight schedule." Later that night we had a huge laugh when we were seated to watch Fantasmic! and a few teen girls kept asking our guide who she was touring (she only responds with "Sorry, can't discuss this...")

I just knew they got the tour s. I thought I read. Hat it was limited, but like I said I may have been off. Good info.

^LOVE this story! I can totally picture her saying that! I just love her, she seems so genuine =)

When I was a CM at WDW I saw Hulk Hogan, Sinbad, Joey Lawrence, and the guy who played Lt. Dan in Forest Gump.

Tony Hawk yesterday, Rod Stewart and Mr.Chow of hangover last week.
