Celebrities that have DVC?

Mistre Gracey, I wasn't sure and didn't want to ask him. We kinda figure that when a celeb goes to a place such as this, they dont want to be bothered and we respected that. However, I was told by the staff that he is a member and a regular visitor of Disneys Vero Beash Resort. They are also the ones that monitored the entrance and escorted him through the kitchen. Seems to be a common occurrence.

I've often wondered how celebs take their families to WDW? It must be difficult, but since it never closes, I guess they must do it w/the masses?

No, they get Disney VIP guides and don't usually go in the regular lines - if you're the "right" level of famous, anyway. There was just a big thread on this on the Touring forums and the special treatment celebrities get in the world.

I saw Joey Fatone there with his family - he had a guide but waited in all the same lines we did, or at least at AK. We were pretty much near him for a few hours (I think he was following us :rotfl2:) at AK and didn't see any special treatment or lines. On the other hand I really don't consider him a celeb well actually I don't get the whole excitment over celebs in the first place. I thought the VIP guides help them as far as what to see when but they still have to wait in the same lines we do:confused3

I doubt that Jimmy Carter or Bon Jovi actually own DVC. Disney often puts celebs there because of the larger accomidations (Im sure they get daily maid service).

Professional athletes are another story. I know from looking at the OC comptrollers web site that several own DVC. This makes sense when you think about it. Someone like Bon Jovi, will always have large amounts of revenue coming in over his lifetime (Royalties) so why bother to purchase.
An athelete, on the other hand will make the majority of their income over the (relatively) few years they are under contract. It makes sense to invest in something like DVC during your revenue years, and then pay maintenance fees out of your pension after you retire.
Some of the big names can rely on endorsements (Like Brett Favre) but most of them resume normal lives after their playing years end. My daughter's teacher is married to an ex Dodger who used to play with Steve Garvey. They live a relatively quite life now.

It depends on who they are. I was a Disneyland Cast member in College and (due to it's proximity to Hollywood) we had lots of celebs come thru. Many of the most famous ones were escorted on to an attraction without a wait, for their own safety. (Mobs of fans), Others I saw in the park without a tour guide at all. Can you imagine someone like Tiger Woods waiting in a line? He would have no peace and his trip would be miserable.

Anyone can hire a tour guide, and for the most part, they will not give you special treatment. However, Disney sometimes assigns a guide to a Celebrity (at no cost) to keep order in the parks, when this happens, they get backdoor treatment.

Yeah, poor Tiger Woods! :lmao:

He could keep people off him by throwing bundles of hundred dollar bills to-and-fro, like breadcrumbs to pigeons.

I agree with you - just found that funny.

Don't know if he owns, but Jon Bon Jovi was spotted at Vero Beach resort in the spring. :thumbsup2

He can throw a bundle at me, I would not be ofended!

I think he can only throw with one arm, he has to keep the other free for his super-model wife.

I know Drew Carey is - a bus driver at OKW two years ago said I had just missed him getting off at the previous stop before I got on (was the only one on the bus going to HH), and said he was a DVC member that stays at OKW most times.

A couple of years ago, I was told by a CM that the reason you usually don't see celebrites wandering around WDW, is that the stars at WDW are a mouse & his friends. The PTB don't want you to forget that, so the really recognizable people are taken in the back entrances or through out of the way areas in the parks. Some people are so recognizable that they never leave the hotels. The wife/husband that isn't famous take the children out to the parks.

Hope

I was staying at GF way back when Planet Hollywood had its grand opening-lots of stars. On opening night we saw many limos driving up to the resort but none were visable once you got to the main entrance. We kept hearing Bruce, Demi and the others were there but we never saw them, except for on the eleven o'clock news.
