Celebrations Magazine

As excited as I would be for a magazine of the sort, am I the only one that is kind of skeptical if this is real or just a scam? The reasons I'm skeptical is because I've never heard of this company, and the only payment choice is PayPal, and it's not officially affiliated with Disney. I think I'll wait it out to hear input once the magazine is actually out before I buy in. :confused3

Aww, great, now you have me worried! And I just went and ordered a subscription. :guilty:

Woo-hoo!!!!! I have been waiting a loooong time for this. Ever since the Disney magazine was cancelled :cool1:

I LOVED that magazine! Hope this one is as good, because I just ordered it.

:headache: D'oh--me too! At least it's only $25. Even a crummy Disney magazine is better than none. And while I don't like paypal, at least I know they'll be around 6 months from now if it was a scam.

Hi J! :wave2: I was pretty excited at first, since DH has been reading three year old Disney Magazines. I'm no expert on what is legit or not, so I was going to let him decide for himself. But hearing it only accepts paypal has stopped me in my tracks. Why make it so hard to get a subscription?

I think I'll hold out and see what it is like, maybe even spend cover price on one.

This is being put out by Lou Mongello (of the WDW Radio Show podcast and author of two Walt Disney World trivia books), Tim Devine (of The Magic in Pixels), Tim Foster (of Guide to the Magic), Steve Barrett (author the Hidden Mickeys Guide books), Cara Goldsbury (author of The Luxury Guide to Walt Disney World) and Beci Mahnken (of Mouse Fan Travel). I don't know any of these people personally, but I'm very confident that Lou Mongello isn't running a scam -- and most of the others listed are frequent guests on his show.

You can visit Lou's site at http://www.disneyworldtrivia.com/, and you can find his podcast from there if you're interested. There are several good Disney-related podcasts out there, but Lou's is the best, in my opinion. His love for the parks is obvious and worn on his sleeve.

Personally, I'm glad this is an independent publication and not published by Disney. As good as the official Disney Magazine could sometimes be, it was often too centered on whatever Disney wanted to promote at a given time than on what most interested the writers and readers. This new magazine won't be beholden to such constraints.

I couldn't find any info on Lou Mongello's website. If he was publishing, wouldn't there be something on his website?:confused3

I just ordered mine! I'm confident with the people that are putting it out it's not a scam. I enjoy the things on Lou's site and have emailed back and forth with him on one occasion. He's super nice and very knowledgable. The Magic in pixels, for anyone who hasn't seen the site, is always worth a look. The gentlemen who does the site has beautiful pictures! Its a little piece of magic!

Can't wait to get it!

I also subscribed when I learned about it from Lou's site. Can't wait to get it!

I just popped over to Lou's site and they are talking about it on the forums. At least one of the contributors to the magazine was on the forum talking about his work on the magazine. I am sure that this is legit. They are talking about going to press soon, with the magazines scheduled to be out by the end of Sept. Time for me to go order!

EDIT: I just placed my order and I DID NOT have to use a paypal account. I just clicked the option to continue without using a paypal account and payed with my credit card.

You don't have to pay with PayPal...there is an option to not make an account and not pay with PayPal.
