DW and I are thinking of taking a ride to Celebration during our June anniversary trip. How far from WDW and what is there to do there?

Celebration is about 9 to 10 Miles from DW
Here is thier website. http://www.celebrationfl.com/
The shops are very nice! I love the Boston Tavern that is one of the best meals I have ever had in Florida. There is a movie theater there, and I think they have things going on through out the year. Its not a whole day thing, but definately worth stopping in.

I agree with everything you say about Celebration,it's a great place but it's definitely not 9-10 miles away from Disney World. It might be like 9 miles to certain areas in Disney but to enter Disney property it can't be more than 3-4 miles!

Oh it's lovely:)

And definitely worth a little drive. I think Karen is thinking from the Sherberth Road/AK entrance to WDW:)

If you exit WDW property from World Drive, it's practically right there..between Marker 9-10 maybe, is one of the entrances to the main thoroughfare through the town..on the 192..

Maybe this will help..

Our house is 2.5 miles from the backside of the Castle yet it is over 13 to the AK lot. Never measured it from the MK gate to Celebration but you can't miss it following the signs on World Drive out of the MK. The road ends and you must go left or right. Right takes you to the Celebration HS and Left into town. There are some great events scheduled throughout the year. Love the Pie Festival,Art Festival and Holiday Season when it snows on MarketStreet.
Yes worth a visit to stroll around town, visit the shops, take in a movie, grab a nice meal or buy a home and never leave.:thumbsup2 Enjoy your visit.pirate:

We live in Celebration, in East Village, and our house is exactly 8 miles from the Magic Kingdom toll gate. The celebrationfl.com website is rather outdated, but it's a fun place to visit. There are several good restaurants (Seito Japanese, Market Street Cafe diner, D'Antonios italian, Columbia Cuban/Spanish, Town Tavern Boston-style, plus a Starbuck's, Sherlocks for tea and light snacks, and a few other restaurants at Water Tower Place at the 192 entrance to town (Joe's Crab Shack, Siena Flats Pizza, Coldstone ice cream, Moes Mexican, Mulligans Pub, and PJ's Coffee). You can walk around the lakefront and shop in the neat little stores. Some weekends there are special events, too, like art shows, pie fest, and an exotic car show, and every Sunday there is a farmer's market.

We have enjoyed celebration for years now. Especially at the holidays. Also love to just sit by the lake and relax. There are some cute little shops to browse in and a nice place for the guys to grab a haircut!

If you go, go early - treat it like a park!! We too wanted to check it out and drove over a couple of weeks ago thinking we would take a stroll and do some shops. It was CRAZY BUSY - no parking on the main strip (and I did not see any lots). So we literally drove through and never even got out of the car. Looked nice - expensive - but nice!

They hide the parking lots so us locals have a place to park;) ! J/K!!!

There are parking lots in Celebration, but you kind of have to know where they are!

Huh? The streets are usually empty. j/k;) It's like going back in time. This was from past Founder's Day. Had the town almost to myself for a bit. All the residents must have been inkkognito. :thumbsup2 or lining up to do the photo. Or could it have been the garlic laden breath from the favorite Columbia 1905 Salad had everyone running for cover. :confused3 pirate:

Bring the kid's swimsuits, there is a huge fountain there that kids like to play in, right by the lake.

Barb, unless I've mistaken you for someone else - I really think you ought to post a link to your blog.

It's always a great read, and I can think of no better way for people in other places to get a great sense of Celebration and what it's like to be neighbor to the mighty Mouse.

Otter49 This is the site/blog link you are talking about correct?

Yes, exactly so.
Thanks Found it by accident a few years ago and saved on favorites. Never knew it was someone on here. Thanks.:)
