Celebration Round Up and BBQ

I posted this elsewhere, but thought I'd put it here too, since we actually liked the experience...

We loved the food, and the experience.... it was one of our better meals in the park (dh actually got full!!) Ribs were a little spicy for dd, but dh and I loved them, and the sauce that went with. Chicken was really good, corn wheels were perfectly done, and I loved the cornbread. DD wasn't thrilled with the amount of frosting on the cupcake, so I took it off, she had chocolate, dh and I had red velvet... yummy!!

Woody and Jessie were great, Chip & Dale were there too... so was Bullseye, but he didn't come out to meet anyone, was just on stage... Never added pics before... so I'll try!!

I posted this elsewhere too, but I will repeat my review of the place.

We went in early May and LOVED it!!!!!!! My kids are not fans of barbecue food, but I gave them some plain chicken, and they had some cornbread. They both loved the cupcakes and had no problem finishing them up. Actually, with the spoon this was the neatest they have ever been while eating cupcakes!

The show was really fun. My DD got to go up on the stage, Miss Chris came to our table and talked to her, Woody and Jessie both came to our table twice, it was so much fun! The place was 2/3 to 3/4 full the entire 1.5 hours we were there. Our server was a little slow, but we weren't bored by any means. The piano player and guitarist are awesome, too. The guitar player walked around and talked to people as he played.

I think we would go back, if my kids wanted to. I do think there should be a kid's option, like hot dogs or macaroni and cheese. Maybe some fruit or something. But really, I can't complain too much! The fact that my kids stayed at a meal for 1.5 hours and never once complained, that's pretty amazing!

Thank you for sharing your pictures. I love BBQ! I want it now, yes, even at 11:21 in the p.m. PST. :)

just got back from the BBQ! We went without priority seating reservations. We had to wait 5 minutes, no biggie. There were a bunch of empty tables.

My wife is vegetarian, so she had the tofu skewers while I had the chicken and ribs. She LOVED the tofu. She's usually really picky about BBQ sauces, but loved theirs. The food took a while to come out, but that was fine with us- we watched the performers which was great.

We thought we would want to go for the all you can eat option! But we really were full after the first round! The food was delicious! They let us choose the cupcake flavors we wanted. I went with the strawberry- she went with the red velvet/rasperry. I loved the strawberry, but the raspberry one came with a weird tasting mousse inside it that she wasn't a fan of.

I had seen photos here of the waiter bringing out the plates and everything on a washboard- those were no where to be seen? I thought that was a cute touch, but no one used them.

The photo package was pricey ($32 for 5 photos) so we passed, but the photographer was more than willing to take a photo with our camera.

I also noticed that Jesse was playing games with kids by the stage, and when Jesse took Woody's place at the photo stop, Woody wandered around to the tables. So maybe they are putting in more stuff to attract more people?

And as we paid the check, I asked if we could have to go cup of lemonade- they gave us free kids cups :)

My godson (on leave from Iraq) and his family came 2 weeks ago and they choose this "character meal". His 2 sons are whirling dervishes and really didn't want to stop for dinner. They LOVED it. We all LOVED it. The entertainment was steady but low key. For the boys, it was enough to keep them engaged but allowed them to calm down. I watched them literally go into a trance when Miss Chris was talking to them and she somehow got them on stage and they did everything that she asked. And if you knew them, this was short of a miracle.

We all enjoyed the food. The boys 5 and 7 ate well. 2 drumsticks, 1 rib, corn bread, 3 corn wheels, beans and most of their cupcake plus 2 drink refills. Their parents were short of speechless to see their boys eat so much and so nicely. We only asked for more corn and beans. My DH thought he had more than enough to eat. As the boys regained energy and restlessness, Chip and Dale came out, then Woody, then Jesse with Roundup walking from table to table. Plus the musicians, the boys were entertained for almost 1 1/2 hours. And the adults got a semi peaceful dinner.

We will go back with the rest of our family. The BBQ sauce has a little kick, I'm guessing a little on the tabasco side.

We ate there last week and DH and I feel it was a great experience...even for our
DS(3). He had a good time and loves his beans. I got the recipe for the coles slaw...just need the beans recipe now too.

Oh yes please!!! I loved that coleslaw and would love to make it myself! :) If you would share it I would be forever grateful!

We LOVED the celebration bbq!!! I can honestly say it was THE BEST food we had in the parks combined (and we went lots and lots of places). All of the Cast Members were super friendly and nice. The food was delicious (I want that cole slaw recipe, please)! :) I was also loving the beans and the ribs... and the desserts... so fun and good!

Miss Chris was so sweet and my kids loved Tex...

I've not posted photos here before, but here goes.

ack... I'll try again later...

Okay... here are the photos... like I said... we had a fabulous time and will DEFINITELY do it again next time!

Those are great pictures, Swimrsal!!!^^^^ I especially love the shot of the little one reaching purposefully towards the cupcake arrangement!!! Adorable! Where are all the other people eating? It looks like no one is there besides you guys!

Awww... thanks Sherry!

The baby was VERY interested in those cupcakes! I have quite a few shots of him reaching for them with all his might!

We had the first PS of the day (11:30am) so there were not many people there yet. Plus, the tables behind us were in the sunshine (it was in the upper 70's) so people were opting for the shade which was more the perimeter of the place. So there really were others there! :)

Thank you for sharing your photographs Sally. You have a very nice looking family, and you look great too. :)

Haven't forgotton about the recipe...just busy with work.

For anyone who goes in the future, they will email you the recipe in a powerpoint.
