Celebration of Harry Potter Films, Nov 11-13, at Islands of Adventure

As someone who has been attending Potter events in this fandom for 10 years, I am not at all surprised that there is not detailed info on things. It's usually this way, especially when it comes to cast events. Usually you get a small list of who is "scheduled to attend" with the notation of, "Participants could change without further notice." I've attended many conventions, autograph events, releases ect in the Potter fandom and they always give you the least amount of info as possible.

For instance, I just attended the Scream Awards taping for their Tribute to Potter. To get on the invite list you had to apply for it, then if you made the list you had to wait until the day of to find out the secret location in NYC for the taping. They at first told us nothing about the event or who was coming, then they told us it was Daniel Radcliffe but nothing else. Five hours before we were to show up, they sent us the location which was in fact just a random street corner. From there they walked us into a theater and sat us there to wait for roughly 4 hours. Finally someone came in and walked us outside and around the block to Lincoln Center then finally gave us instructions and jobs(my job was to stand where Dan entered and cheer for him...LOL). And through all of this, not one Potter fan there thought any of it was out of ordinary as all of us were used to it.:rotfl2:

So really I'm not too worried. There are stars who have confirmed they will be there such as Evanna Lynch, Katie Leung and the Phelps twins as they have been tweeting about it. Universal sent us the email on where to pick up stuff and where to go which is far more info than I'm used to getting for these things.:thumbsup2

Wow! I guess we have been overloaded with info in comparison, then lol.
Sounds like you have been to many fun events, hope this lives up to at least some of them.

Wow Fairyprincess sounds like more security than the president!
In that case we should count ourselves lucky if they don't march us all around the park! ha ha
Anyone else's boss and coworkers sick of you talking about your upcoming vacation/HP event? :cloud9:

I have no doubt this will be a very fun event. It takes place in the WWoHP, how could it not be fun?:) Plus, one of my favorite parts about doing Potter events is being around all the other Potter nerds. I have spent many, many, many hours waiting with my fellow fans for various things such as eight hour lines for midnight book releases, 5 day camp outs in the rain for front barricade at the movie premiers ect ect and I cherish the memories of those times waiting as much if not more than the actual event itself. There is nothing more fun then spending time being a out and proud Potter nerd with others of your own kind.

Just so you can see what I mean, this is video from the four hours they kept us waiting for the Tribute to Potter taping. The waiting room/theater was my favorite part of the whole night.

ONE WEEK!!!

I have a busy schedule for the next week to prepare the house, get the shopping done, and get stuff packed. Hopefully I can fit it all in. Seriously going on a trip takes hard work prepping when kids are involved. :rotfl:

I just saw on the leaky culdron that E! is coming for a red carpet event on Saturday night. I thought the gala was on sunday night? It also says Lucius and Narcissa are confirmed to be attending.

I was previously told by a TM on the phone that there is a separate media gala or event on Sat night.

Am I the only one who thinks it is pretty disappointing that they plan a separate gala than the one some of us paid so much to attend? Why can't we be part of the only gala given that there are supposedly so few of us who got premiere packages? I guess all the big-wigs and their family have to be more special than those of us who are paying to see the stars....

As excited as my DD is, I just have to say I get less excited the more I hear about these other galas and events...

From the Orlando Sentinel:

Here’s what Warner Brothers Home Entertainment says.

Rupert Grint, Jason Isaacs, Helen McCrory, the adorable Evanna Lynch, Warwick Davis, Mark Williams, James and Oliver Phelps, as well as director David Yates, a few producers and others — some 20 cast and crew members will walk the red carpet to celebrate the release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” the final film in the most popular film series of all time.

They’ll walk the carpet of the AMC Universal Saturday night before a screening of the film there. More details are coming.

There is always separate media events with this sort of thing. This is the final DVD release so it's a rather big deal so it's not at all surprising to do the media event separate from the fan event. With fans involved there becomes a lot of camera bombing, noise ect where they are trying to get specific media footage. It also could get quite boring for the fans when they are not allowed to freely roam the park, are contained within security barricades and held away from places they are using to film. Having the two events separate allows the fans to fully enjoy the WWoHP and their own Gala without it being dictated by media filming ect. Plus having them separate allows the Potter cast some time to enjoy the WWoHP with their families, which is something they can not do with fans around.

By having the separate gala, I am not sure we will get to meet any of the cast at "our" gala. In fact, I haven't read anything that says they will be at "our" gala, which I think many of us had been assuming. That is why I am disappointed.

Anyone going solo?

I am taking my daughter and her friend and have the feeling that I am going to be spending most of the 4 days wandering the parks alone...

Ok, Evanna Lynch got her Orlando schedule for the event (she tweeted this info). It would be nice if Universal will give out more info. Im going to call today, again! I really need to know who will be in my autograph session...just one tiny info...I cross my fingers I will be with the ones I want..I got ready a letter to give and amusic CD :(

Apparently they have a schedule;she said though they cant say anything until the day of the sessions in the way it's a surprise; she was laughing; I was upset...I was hoping to know in the way I could, maybe, exchange the time, in case I didnt' get tthe Phelps...I know many of you are really without preferences. Really hope at this point, the major actors will be in each session!Sad

I can understand the disappointment, but from past experience with these type of Potter events I can tell you that the chances of the fans ever having access to the cast at the Gala was slim to none. They will probably have some of the cast at the fan Gala and if they do they will probably do a speech on a stage or something like that, then be whisked away. They do not allow them to roam the crowds or anything like that. It would a security nightmare and if Rubert Grint is involved they will be on security overdrive. Anytime you have one of the trio involved, it's like watching the secret service in action.:rotfl:

The Gala I am assuming is similar to the ones we've had for Infinitus and Night of a Thousand Wizards where the WWoHP is set up in a party fashion with food tables ect and the rides and shops are open and there is music, drinks ect. Of course Universal could have a surprise up their sleeve, it's hard to know but I think most of the fan/cast interaction will take place at the autograph and Q&A sessions.

Ya I kinda guessed that even if a few of the cast members are roaming around that it would be more like just in set areas with security. Having fans all over the place....even just those who paid for premiere tickets would be crazy if ALL of the cast members were wandering around. I'd guess that at the most they'll be there all in like the Three Broomsticks or something in a set area where people can come say hi or something but even seeing them come and saying a little something for a bit and etc would be awesome. I'm easy to please.

We are really down to the wire now. I'm gonna make DH lay out his clothes for the trip this weekend, cuz I will not be up late the last night we are home trying to get the clothes he wants to wear washed or searching through the house for a missing shoe. :rotfl:

I started packing on Wed.(I have to work so much this week I took advantage of my last day off). I am so excited only 5 more days until we fly out . It should be an interesting flight since my mother and daughter have never flown.

I'm so JEALOUS!

I wish I could pack sooner. I only have so much maternity clothes though. I will be washing clothes Monday and Tuesday for sure. Plus since we aren't bringing our kids, I also have to get the house ready for one of my inlaws to stay with them for the days we are gone. Hopefully they aren't expecting a spotless house, cuz with 3 kids under the age of 7 and being preggo I think I'll be lucky to have it looking decent. :rotfl: Oh well. I am gonna look at the bright side that DH and I will actually get some alone time for once. This is a 2nd honeymoon for us and also a babymoon, so YAY! :cool1:
