Celebration cake at Chef Mickey’s

I’m thinking of ordering one of the cute dome celebration cakes for Chef Mickey’s to celebrate my son’s birthday. I’ve read hit-and-miss experiences of diners getting a cupcake and maybe a birthday song on their birthday, but has anyone actually ordered a cake there? Any experiences are helpful. Thanks!

Last year when we were at Chef Mickey’s, we saw at least four or more of the dome celebration cakes. Seemed very common.

You order it at the podium when you check in for your reservation. Couldnt be any more easy.

We are wondering the same and whether it would actually feel like a celebration or just a cake dropped off for at the table....not sure if it’s worth it. We could just wait to celebrate our LO’s actually birthday, which is after we get home.

I ordered one last Feb for my son’s birthday to be delivered at Ohana. It was delicious! So good that he’s still talking about it! The ears, tail and buttons are solid chocolate, the main cake is a chocolate mousse. My son wants a cake this trip - it was that good! I plan to order it our first night so we can store it in our room fridge and enjoy it for a few days. Unfortunately, on his birthday we had to fly out the next day and couldn’t enjoy the leftovers.

From my understanding, the dome cake is not the podium cake. It needs to be pre-ordered thru Disney Dining (407) WDW-DINE. Its $35 and you pay at the restaurant.

They can be ordered at the podium. I just double checked Lurkyloo's Website as well as her post on the Cake Chatter.

How do I order one?
Call 1-407-WDW-DINE or inquire in person at a Walt Disney World Resort concierge desk or restaurant podium.

I'm so glad you asked about the dome cake! We're surprising our daughter with a sweet 16 birthday trip. Our first day is her !6th birthday, and dinner is crab legs at Cape May...her favorite! I want her to have cake and it sounds like the cupcake is a little inconsistent. I just told my husband about it this morning but wanted to be sure it was worth the money and the effort.

Yes, we’re going to order it when we make our reservations. :) Now just need to decide whether to do it at Chef Mickeys or at one of our dinners, like Skipper Canteen.

The cake you order at the podium is the dome cake with the chocolate ears, etc. No need to order ahead.

CM is one place where it's never hit or miss for a song. I suggest it for a place to go if you want a place where you know you'll get an acknowledgment and not have to rely on the whim of the staff. Everyone gets a celebration song at CM. They give anyone celebrating something a special yellow napkin. During the meal, there's a song performed at various points and everyone, characters, staff, guests, twirls their napkins in the air and those with yellow napkins are acknowledged as celebrating something. So no, it's not exactly Happy Birthday, but it is a sure-fire, something.

I think, if I remember it correctly from my cake research last March, the confusion here is the dome cake replaced the cake you are calling the podium cake
