Celebrating Sweet 16 in Disney, Any ideas??

A take off from the poster above........what about a Cupcake Crawl? A quest for "16" cupcakes! Take photos of each one and then do a quick slideshow on Smilebox or something similar, so she can always keep the memory!

These are all fantastic suggestions. Now my mind of full of ideas. I just need to choose and organize! Thank you all so much. I am not sure if I will surprise her or not. I was thinking of doing something as a surprise since she has never celebrated her bday there, but her sister has 3 times now. So, I wanted to give her something special as well. 16 seems the perfect age to give her a moment. I am going to tell her younger sister and let her in on the planning. She is really good at it and I think she will want to give her sister the attention. My younger DD will turn 14 while we are at Universal so we are going to do a couple unexpected things there, like the interactive wand since she doesn't know about it. :wizard:
Thank you all again. I am very excited now. :yay:

And this....LOL I was wondering what SOA was. Now I don't have to spend time looking it up with no results!

Oh sorry my post said the SOA at the GF, I meant spa, not sons of anarchy. Although the latter would be more interesting ;)

A couple other ideas I didn't see listed here yet:

1. Rent a boat to view the fireworks at MK or Epcot. We've done both. If you request it, you can have the boat decorated with a sign and balloons. We surprised my daughter with a boat trip after dining at 1900 Park Fare - strolled over to the boats and there it was decorated to the hilt. We cruised around the lake and had an amazing view of the fireworks. Same with Illuminations at Epcot.

2. Have the Disney Florist decorate your room for your arrival or after arrival if her birthday falls within your trip.

3. Engage a local company to do something special one day while you are in a park. We hired a company to do a special Scavenger Hunt for my daughter around the Magic Kingdom a few years ago and it was amazing. They customized the hunt for my daughter based upon her interests and the milestone we were celebrating. While 16 may be too old for that, my guess is that if you found the right company to do this they could make it more age appropriate, and who doesn't love a little pixie dust? We had the best time and my daughter was absolutely amazed at the "magic" this created.

But the best suggestion I have = scour these boards! That's where I've found all the ideas I've done to make each trip special. There are so many great suggestions here. Have a great time planning!!

Do you have the name of the web sites/links for the boat and florist? I want to do a surprise for my daughter.

When I was that age being with my friends was EVERYTHING. Is there a way for you to arrange for her BFF to surprise her there, or at the airport and go on the trip with you.

Happy Almost Sweet 16! We celebrated my DD's 16th (also a music girl!) in the World last August! I allowed her to bring a friend (which turned into 2!). They mostly paid for themselves except for the hotel and some meals. I bought us all personalized tshirts. Ours said "Bridget's Sweet 16! August 2014" and DD's said "Bridget". That way everyone knew who the guest of honor was!

Over the course of our trip I got ADR's at Rose & Crown for about 7:30 and we were able to watch Illuminations from our seats on the patio. I booked the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party for a great view of Wishes. We ate at her choice, Be Our Guest and her BFF asked her to dance in the middle of the dining room when Beauty & the Beast came on. She had a memorable Sweet 16!

You can also get beautiful birthday cakes, flowers, in-room decorations ($$$) at http://www.disneyfloralandgifts.com/home.html.

If shes into princesses, how about do CRT, Akershus, or 1900 Park Faire? They are all great character meals that involve the princesses. Ecah have their own characters and special touches so if that is something shw would be interested in I would take a look at each of them! I think the spa would be a great idea as well! Being pampered in Disney always sounds nice! :goodvibes

WOW!! I just thought I would check back on this post and I am overwhelmed with all the responses. They just keep coming.
I will be able to plan some nice surprises. This is a family trip, so can't bring any friends, but that was a good idea. One reason we return to Disney is so we can have some quality "family time" and we always do there, but I do want to give her some special moments and now I know I will. I haven't made any decisions yet, but so happy that I now have quite a few ideas to choose from!
