Celebrating Our First Anniversary Contemporary Style!

Hi everyone! :goodvibes

I am glad you are all joining me again for another Trip Report!

This time we are back at Walt Disney World!
:wizard:

My DH & I recently celebrated the one-year wedding anniversary of our Disney Fairy Tale Wedding! :bride: :groom: I still can't believe we have been married for more than a year now! It seems like just yesterday, I was planning our Fairy Tale Wedding!

Of course, we had to celebrate the occasion back at Walt Disney World!

We decided we'd spend a Magical weekend at the Contemporary Resort! I was thrilled because I have always loved and wanted to stay at the Contemporary. My parents actually spent their first wedding anniversary at the Contemporary too! We actually had our Disneymoon at the Polynesian and so did my parents. Are you seeing the Disney tradition here!? ;)

I had made a lot of plans for us and decided to do as much as we could at the Contemporary, as well. That way we could really sit back, relax, and enjoy the resort. :beach:

Our Anniversary weekend turned out to be one of our most Magical vacations with many special surprises for us! pixiedust:

Here is a quick view of some of our Anniversary plans:

Opening of the Magic Kingdom

We decided the perfect place to start our Anniversary weekend would be at the Magic Kingdom, of course! ;) We had all of our luggage packed Thursday night and loaded it in our car, so we could get to the Magic Kingdom first thing on Friday morning.

We were going to begin our day with the Mickey's Magical Milestones Tour and then hopefully we could check-in to the Contemporary Resort early in the day. We arrived to the Magic Kingdom before the parked opened, which I was excited about because I haven't seen the opening of the park in years! I think I was 9, the last time I saw the park opening celebration. I choose to sleep-in a little later usually. ;) I thought it would be fantastic to see, especially with the Year of a Million Dreams celebration! :wizard:

Of course, it was hot, humid, and muggy, just like every day in Florida! DH was working-up quite a sweat just standing there. I had also ordered special matching Anniversary shirts for our Magical weekend too! :goodvibes You know how I love the matching outfits! :rotfl:

The train pulled-up to the station and the characters made their arrival at the Magic Kingdom!

I just love the opening of the park ceremony! I actually had watched it on You Tube before and I was brought to tears. I know, how sad! :rotfl: I just love it when the Mickey confetti goes flying over the crowd! You can't help, but get excited!

We entered with the crowd of people and made our way over to City Hall to check-in for our tour. We grabbed two free bottles of water and were given our special souvenir pins with our names on them for the tour.

Continued...::yes::

Mickey's Magical Milestones Tour

The tour was, of course, all about Mickey! We actually all boarded the train with our tour guide and he handed us paper, so we could draw a picture of Mickey as we made our way over to Toon Town. We were shown how hard it was to actually draw on a moving train, much like it would have been for Walt back in the day when he was on the train and first came up with the idea of Mickey!

We were all handed stickers and then got off the train in Toon Town. Toon Town actually was not open yet to any other guests and just our tour group was going to be allowed in! :woohoo: Of course, other people on the train were giving us and our tour guide evil stares because they were not allowed in. It was so neat to see it empty and know we were the first to enter Mickey's house for the day! We were told a bunch of the little hidden secrets in Mickey's house and were able to do some good exploring, since it was just us inside.

Then, we were all talking in Mickey's garage and then Mickey snuck up on us! What a surprise!!! :yay: He was making a special appearance just for us and he escorted us back into his house.

I couldn't believe we were getting our own personal meet and greet with Mickey in his living room! We were the first guests to meet Mickey at the Magic Kingdom for that day! I was thrilled! :goodvibes

We said our good-byes to Mickey and thanked him for letting us visit his home. We began to make our exit out of Toon Town when the rest of the crowds were making their mad dash into Toon Town! :scared1: It was so funny to see all the people rushing in with the characters around them in the crowd. Everyone was too busy getting to their destination that I think they barely noticed! :rotfl: I think it's really neat that the characters actually escort you into Toon Town for the day when it opens.

We decided we'd all go visit Minnie's house too and we had fun playing around in there with the rest of the tour group.

The Mickey's Magical Milestones Tour was a very cute tour and it wasn't too long, which I quite liked. We also were able to go to Main Street and watch a few short Mickey cartoons, as well. We all really enjoyed that because it was in the air conditioning. When we finished our tour, our tour guides surprised each of us with a pair of Mickey ears with our names on them and "MMM 2007!" I was so excited! Yes, it's the little things like this that really make me happy! :mickeyjum

We were pretty exhausted from the heat and walking around. It was close to lunchtime, so we decided we'd grab a quick bite to eat before we made our way over to the Contemporary to see if we could check-in. We chose to eat at the Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square. I am now obsessed with this place because they have the best vegetarian sandwich ever called the Lighthouse. It is so yummy! :)

We sat upstairs in the restaurant, where it is always nice and quiet and enjoyed a very nice lunch overlooking Liberty Square. It was very relaxing and we were able to cool down. It was a perfect way to start off the first day of our Anniversary weekend!
