Celebrating Our 2nd Anniversary at WDW!!- PTR Update 11/1/2010 with TR Link!!

Hi Amanda! Great PTR - and congratulations on passing, hope you had a really fun celebratory dinner! I think you'll LOVE Pop - we found it to be a really fun and friendly resort, plus the pools are really cool. Look forward to hearing more about your plans!

I'm furious!! Just replied to everyone and went to post it and it makes me sign in and of course it all disappears :sad1: I will have to try again later after I clean up the foot high layer of clothing I have lying on my bed. (I did some shopping yesterday to celebrate, so it’s time to get rid of the old)

That just happened to me, too!!!!!!!!:scared1:

Ugh! I hate when that happens. DH and I went through our clothes this past weekend. We ended up donating 7 bags full of clothes. :thumbsup2

Alright, time for Day One!!:woohoo:

I’m so excited for this day! I have an image of what I think Disney will be like from reading a lot of reviews, but this is the day I get to find out for myself!

Our plans for Day one Include:

Flight arrival around 10am…I think haha. I will need to check this.

Take Magic Express to Pop. What is the earliest we can check in? If we are too early will they hold our things until our room is ready??

Head over to MK Take an insane amount of pictures :)

Grab a snack at Main Street Bakery… I’m so excited to try cookie icecream sandwich!

Spend afternoon and evening at MK
Hope to ride some of the following:

Splash Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain
Buzz Lightyear
Space Mountain
Pirates of Carribean
Jungle Cruise
Haunted Mansion
Peter Pans Flight

Am I missing anything? Are there any rides you would recommend saving for our full day at MK?

Grab QS dinner at Cosmic Rays Is this a good choice any other recommendations instead?

Spectro at 8 Where should we try to sit, is there a location that would be good for Spectro and wishes??

Wishes at 9

Go back to Pop exhausted

And that’s day one! I'm a newbie and I have no idea what I'm doing. Any advise/guidance would be GREATLY appreciated. If my plans look flawed don’t hesitate to tell me, I need the help of experts :)

Welcome aboard the DISboards :flower3: A fellow buckeye, when we flew down on Aug. 3 our flight left at 7:45, nonstop to Orlando we had landed before 10am. We were at ASMusic before 11am & our room was ready. I did on-line check in, so I'd recommend you do that and MAYBE you'll have some pixie dust all over your ressie & your room too will be ready :thumbsup2

If not, they will hold your luggage.

Arriving late at MK I think for sure you will be able to enjoy:
Buzz
Pirates
Jungle Cruise
Haunted Mansion

Probably: BTRRM with minimal wait

With FP: Splash, Space Mtn & Peter Pan

Check the times guide on Main st (ask a cast member where) to find out the waits & if FP's are available.

If you have an another day at MK, ENJOY & take in the sites and tour in a leisurely fashion. You can always get there at park opening & hit your must sees your next day at MK.

It is so wonderful to enter the MK for the first time :cloud9: I still get goose bumps every visit as we walk down Main St.

We really liked the Harbour House in Liberty Square for a counter service offering items different than burgers & ribs. But we didn't make it to Cosmic Rays. It does get good reviews.

Being on Main st. is the best place to see the fireworks behind the castle. If you don't care about seeing the fireworks backdropped behind the castle, you can see them just about anywhere in the park, really. A less crowded place to see the night parade is over in frontierland. But if you are willing to stake out a place early, you'll be able to see them from Main st. Check out the theme parks forum & you'll find threads discussing parade & fireworks vantage points, including dessert parties & water cruises :thumbsup2

Yes, you are going to return to POP worn out with your flight in that early ;)

I'm a little on the crazy side when it comes to touring the super headliner attractions & if you're interested on how I do it, check out my link to my TR below.

Looking forward to more of your pre-trip sharing. And Happy Anniversary in advance! 2 years, you're still a newlywed  What a great place to go celebrate :goodvibes

How this trip came about:

Also we both hate extreme heat, so that quickly ruled summer out. Our anniversary is September 20th so we decide on the dates September 17-24 at Pop Century. [/SIZE]

Please prepare for the heat and humidity. Don't want to be a downer but it can be brutal hot in Sept, Oct. We went down for a hockey tournament Columbus Day weekend three or four years ago and it was brutal hot mid-late day. If it is take advantage of extra morning hours then to the pool (I don't know if you can pool hop but that can be fun too) then shower and back to the parks for Extra evening hours. I will say a prayer that it is 75 day and 65 night for you two. Have a blast!!! and Happy Planning it's part of the fun!!:woohoo:

Great start!
My only 2 cents (well you asked!) is that if you are arriving in Orlando at 10am coming from Ohio it means you'll be starting your day at least with an 8am flight. You will probably be hungry for an actual meal before dinner time. I would suggest even just splitting something at POP before going to the MK (you can still get your Bakery snack!) and that way you can check out POP for a bit too!

Can't wait for more!! :)

Ya u are absolutely right. We would be starving if we waited that long to eat a true meal. I know this sounds crazy but I had forgotten our original idea to split all of our QS meals until you said that. I had read a review where a couple did this their entire trip and it seemed like a great idea. This way we don’t ever have to stuff ourselves and we get to try more restaurants as well. :thumbsup2 This will also work well because I don’t have much of an appetite when it is hot.

I suppose I have some research to do because my original plans only call for one QS restaurant. Thanks so much for your input. Please feel free to comment on my remaining days when I get them up!!

Your day 1 plans sound so great! That's awesome that you'll get there so early--you have almost a whole day in the parks! :thumbsup2

They will definitely hold your bags until your room is ready. You can go ahead and check in, and then they'll call you to let you know when you can get into your room.

If you want a little break from the MK and want to get away from the crowds, you can take the monorail or the ferry or walk over to the Contemporary and eat at the Contempo Cafe. We did this last year and LOVED it! It's around a 5-7 minute walk, and their pepperoni flatbread was our favorite of the whole trip! :thumbsup2

If you get there early enough, you should watch Spectro in front of the Liberty Bell. It may or may not have a rope up, but you can stand there where the sidewalk from the Liberty Bell meets the street. A lot of people don't know this is a place to stand. It's right next to the roped off reserved section there (or at least it was when we went).

And we loved seeing Wishes from the Hub (the circle in front of the Castle) because it was the perfect Castle/Fireworks picture. Since it's just the two of you, you should be able to find a good spot! Head over there right after Spectro.

You're going to LOVE Walt Disney World!!!

Thanks! I realized since we are using Magical Express we won’t ever have to deal with our luggage except check it in at airport right??

Contempo Café sounds great. I love flatbreads! Did you have pictures of these in your review?? I will have to check. I have wrote down all of your Spectro and Wishes advice, thanks so much. I really appreciate all of the help you have given me. If it wasn’t for you I would never have started this report.

:woohoo::dance3::yay::cheer2: for doing so very well! Have a nice dinner!

Thanks so much! I studied alot so I’m glad it paid off. Dinner was yummy as always…gotta love Texas Roashouse

Congratulations! Have a fun dinner!

Thanks so much!!

Mmm...I love the rolls and cinnamon butter from Texas Roadhouse. I end up eating like 3 bites of my dinner b/c I eat so many rolls. :rotfl:

Congratulations! :cool1:

I love Paul Rudd. Have you seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall? I know he doesn't have a huge role in that one but it's one of our favorites. Also, we like I Love You Man. What about Date Night? My DH hasn't seen it yet but I did and I really enjoyed it. I think I'm going to see The Other Guys this weekend. I love me some Will Ferrell too. :)

I totally agree I ate half a chicken finger and 3 fries of my meal. I filled up on my salad, rolls and peanuts before my food even arrived :rolleyes1 They make the best salad. I’ve never got a salad for a meal, but I love ordering it for a side. Their ranch and croutons are delicious!! If I could make salads like them I'd eat em for every meal.

Paul Rudd is amazing (and oh so cute). I fell in love with him when he was in Clueless and then again on Friends (Best show EVER!!) . He just has that dorky cute thing going on, which I adore.:lovestruc (sshh dont tell Brian ) I didn’t love Forgetting Sarah Marshal. Likely because I don’t care for Kristen Bell and cant stand Russel Brand). It's funny I never really love any of the movies Paul is in, but he seems to nail the part he has...make sense?? So I am able to at least some what enjoy it enough to keep it on. Like, I love him in Knocked Up, but didn’t really like the movie. Same with I Love You Man.

We haven’t seen Date Night yet. We had said we are going to since the night it came out but haven’t. :confused3 Steve Carell is just amazing and I like Tine Fey because I watch 30 Rock. So it is still a must see for us. I think it's on DVD now so it will be added to our Netflix.

Now Will Ferrell..hes just ok to me. DH loves him and has slowly started to convert me. I remember the first time I seen Anchorman I wanted to walk out of the theatre. (Paul Rudd didn't even keep me interested in it) But I am proud to say I have since sat through the entire thing without wanting to pull my hair out lol. He has been in some really bad movies lately though so my opinion of him is starting to fade again.

We didn’t get to end up watching Dinner for Schmucks last night Brian got stuck at work so we didn’t have enough time but it is in our to do list

Wow this turned out to be a long response...oops

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to the world of Real estate!! :yay::yay: Enjoy your night out!!!

Thanks so much! I don’t think I told you, but you are part of the reason I went for it. While reading your old TR I really got so excited for you and wished I could do the same. Before I knew it I was following in your footsteps. You inspired me..thanks so much:hug:!!

Thank you! Dinner was great. I was actually starving because I hadn’t ate since breakfast:eek:. Brian probably wondered what was wrong with me because I normally have the gift of gab and rarely get to eat because I’m to busy talking. He wanted to hear all about the test but I was to busy stuffing my face. I really think Pop is a great place for our first visit because I really doubt we will be in our room much, but I also just love how fun it looks.

Great advice. I guess I'm just really hoping we get the weather we had in Florida for our honeymoon 2 years ago. But we also had no rain at all so we may have gotten lucky. I have started packing a little and I have laid out short sleeve shirt that flow and tank tops in preparation for the heat. We have also made ADR for lunch 2 days too so hopefully that will give us a break from the heat. I think it’s going to be hard to get me out of the parks for a break, but a midday swim would be amazing. 75 degrees would be awesome!! :)

That just happened to me, too!!!!!!!!:scared1:

It makes me so angry but its what I get for not following stacikristines advice to type it up in word first. :sad2:

Ugh! I hate when that happens. DH and I went through our clothes this past weekend. We ended up donating 7 bags full of clothes. :thumbsup2

I have 3 garbage bags to donate so far. It’s crazy how it all adds up! I must admit I ended up with an entire drawer of clothes I rarely wear but just don’t feel ready to get rid of them. :confused3 Each time I pull them out I come up with some excuse to keep them. Like “Maybe someday….” Or “What if….”

Wow thanks so much for all your feedback! I really wanted to make MK our first stop because it’s what I’ve always imagined… I’ve waited 23 years to see Cinderella’s Castle and I’m not waiting a day longer than I have to! I think the idea of seeing the fireworks behind the castle would be beautiful! I will definitely check out the theme park forum…you can never get too much information. I will check out your TR, I bet it has lots of great info!!!:thumbsup2 I think it will be a great place to spend our anniversary. Now I jsut wish we would have made it for like 10 days. Thanks again I really appreciate how helpful and nice everyone has been to me!

I'm back and excited to keep going:thumbsup2.

I think first I will show you a few pics...

This is another reason I’ve been really busy lately…This is a cake I made for my nieces first bday party a few weeks ago. It is now a tradition for me to make each niece or nephew’s first bday cake. It is probably the best cake I have ever made (I’ve only made three). I see a few things I would like to change but that’s how you learn right? Well since then I have had lots of people wanting me to make cakes. I know I am by NO means an expert, so I am going to start a few classes so I get better at fondant work and basic skills. I may not be great at it but man I love it!!

This is all of my scrapbook items I have purchased so far to make my ultra awesome WDW scrapbook. Instead of buying a Photopass (which I would love, but cant see spending $100) I have decided to spend the $100 and put together a scrapbook. I have tons of basic supplies I have bought but never used :confused3 so I’m going to have to find and dig out the tub they are all stored in. Most of these items were bought on clearance or with 40-50% coupon.( I’m a clearance junkie...esp. Target) While all other 20 something year olds are out partying on a Friday I’m at home clipping coupons and playing battleship…and that’s the way I love it. Everyone refers to Brian and I as an old married couple.

And this is my scrapbook. Bri talked me into buying this one. I was just going to buy a plain red one and try to jazz it up, but he knew how much I loved this one and persisted on buying it. The Mickey is 3D :) It ended up being $33 because I used a 40% off coupon. I’m so glad he talked me into it. I love it!

This is me beginning the stage of picking out outfits…most of these have already been changed :sad2: I’m anxious to see what I actually end up packing

2010August12096.jpg

This is my new Vera. It is a mini hipster. I love the size its just big enough for the necessities. This would not work for someone that likes to bring alot into the parks...

Yes those are BAGS taped to our walls. Brian and I went to Disney store a couple weeks ago to get him a Mickey shirt (I told him we need a day with matching Mickey shirts) While in line she asks us “Do you want a Buzz or Mickey bag?” I say Buzz is fine. But Bri chirps in and says “Man why not Mickey?” So she laughs and gives us both bags. Ok we get home and I am making dinner and walk into our room to see these taped up. I instantly smiled. Is it tacky to have bags on your walls??... Maybe, but every time I look at them I smile. It also showed me how excited he is too!

Next: Day 2

WOW, the cake is beautiful!!!!!:cutie: Nice job!!

Love all the scrap book stuff! I have had such good intentions of scrapbooking our trips, but I just can never find the time! They turn out so cute and organized and fun, I love them, just wish I had the energy and time for it!! Can't wait to see yours!

So funny about the bags! Bri and I would get along, love it!!:thumbsup2

Love the mini hipster, perfect for the trip for sure!!

Wow, the cake pic's are really neat :goodvibes

Did you use food coloring on white cakes to get all the different colors? What a great idea. They look so fun :lovestruc

That cake is great! I love the different color layers. :teeth:
Scrapbooking sounds like fun! I'm sure it will turn out great; you've got a lot of stickers there. & I love the 3D Mickey scrapbook. ::MickeyMo

You are very talented! I love the colors of the cake. Good job. :) Isn't it great when your DH shows his excitement, too? My hubby is excited too but he is definitely the type of person that doesn't really show his excitement for our trips until they are in just a few days and then a switch flips and he's like suuuuuper excited.

Ooo, scrapbooking things. I love it! I love scrapbooking. However, in all of the years that I have been scrapbooking, I have only 2 completed albumbs. I go through spurts. We are doing the photopass this year just b/c I already have a lot of pictures of the fireworks and such and hardly any pictures of DH and I together in WDW. I figure if we come back and I don't think we took enough pictures or I don't like a lot of them, I will just get a refund and maybe purchase a few I like. For our honeymoon, we purchased I think 2 different pictures and 2 copies of each and it was something like $40! :scared1:

Looking forward to seeing Day 2 Plans. :thumbsup2

DAY 2

Sep 18th Animal Kingdom 9am-5pm

Breakfast- In room. Likely Kashi Bars

Quick Service meals through out day: Flame tree or Yak and Yeti

Must ride or see:

Everest (Asia) -FP

Dinosaur (Dinoland)-FP

Kilamanjaro Safari (Africa 18min) –FP

Festival of Lion King- 35 min show at 10am,11am,12pm,1:30pm, 2:30pm, 3:30pm,4:30pm

Tree of Life

Would like to ride or see

Its Tough to be a Bug (Tree of Life)

Finding Nemo Musical (Dinoland)

Don’t mind either way:

Maharajah Jungle Trek(Asia)

Flights of Wonder (Asia)

Kali River Rapids (Asia)

This is my rough plan. Any opinions or if I forgot anything let me know

Dinner: Boma

mmmm Boma. I've always wanted to eat there. the food always looks so good.
Festival of the Lion King is great & so is the safari! :thumbsup2

We saw Flights of Wonder our last trip, it really is a neat show. I'd try hard to see it if you can. You will find that the show times for FoW, FOTLK & Nemo all conflict with one another.

Kali River Rapids you may get drenched, just be aware if you decide to ride so you can time it when that isn't going to cause a problem for you (as in you wouldn't want to be going into airconditioning or to dinner right before riding)

Tree of Life contains the It's tough to be a bug - it's on discovery island, not in Africia

I recommend Tusker House if you're wanting a table service, if you book a lunch at a certain time they will give you a pass for the Nemo show without having to wait in the standby line for it if that's important to you. You can also FP the Safari before your meal & when you're finished it should be time to enjoy, this helps cut down on the walking in AK. It's very spread out so a plan is very helpful so you're not crisscrossing the park all day.

I don't think you'll have any problem seeing everything you want a AK. Do try to go on the P.Trail & M.Jungle Trek, they don't take long & very nice to see.

Love the mini hipster, perfect for the trip for sure!!

Thanks so much! This will be my first attempt to really scrapbook. I also always have good intentions but the farthest I have gotten is laying out photos and paper on a table and staring at them. It's sad that I have so many supplies and have never even used them :sad2. Now that I've already spent $50+ on the album and sticker I will force myself to get it done..I hope

Ya I love getting to see him get excited. He normally isnt too into planning but I can tell I'm definately rubbing off on him this trip :woohoo:

Wow, the cake pic's are really neat :goodvibes

Did you use food coloring on white cakes to get all the different colors? What a great idea. They look so fun :lovestruc

I actually used a gel, if you use food coloring they will turn out very pale. I have also done a tie dye effect on a cake and it looked really fun too:thumbsup2

That cake is great! I love the different color layers. :teeth:
Scrapbooking sounds like fun! I'm sure it will turn out great; you've got a lot of stickers there. & I love the 3D Mickey scrapbook. ::MickeyMo

I love my scrapbook, it was worth the extra cost. I will have to post pics of the scrapbook when I get all done with it. Knowing me that could takes months after we return :rolleyes1

Brian really wants to buy the photopass now. He says since I'm going to be scrapbooking it, we might as well do it right and get some great pics to go in it. So who knows what we will end up doing :confused3 Do ride photos go on the photopass as well?? Ya, I was scared of the individual pricing. Can I see all the pics before I decide if I want a to buy the cd?? If there are lotsI love it may be a good idea to purchase it.

It is hard to get alot of photos together when it's just two of you. I normally end up being the annoying lady asking someone to take our pic all the time.
