Celebrating Our 2nd Anniversary at WDW!!- PTR Update 11/1/2010 with TR Link!!

I will start out by saying this is my first PTR, so I may have a few difficultes along the way I’m hoping writing this will be half as fun as reading some of the great ones I’ve found on here.

Who we are:

Amanda (ME!) – I am the planner, organizer, and over analyzer. I love to travel!! It is a very normal occurrence for me to start planning our next vacation while on vacation. If I go 6 months without a vacation I start to get antsy. So we make a habit of cutting back on the other extras in life to ensure we have many vacations together. I have many other hobbies I like to occupy my time with in between vacations. I love going to concerts. We just went and seen Jeremy Camp last week and he was amazing!! I’m currently counting down the days until our Lady Antebellum concert. I also enjoy shopping, reading, running, watching movies (romantic comedies), watching Friends or The Office, but most of all I just like to spend time with DH and family. This will be my FIRST TRIP EVER to Disney. I remember being a little girl and dreaming of the day I would get to go to Disney. Well… I waited 23 years and it’s finally here!

Brian (DH) – He is the passive go with the flow kind guy. I plan and he follows. He also loves to travel. His ideal vacation would be a week at an all inclusive resort lying on beach, listening to live music, and doing nothing. (I haven’t warmed up to this crazy idea of relaxing while on vacation so it is still on our to-do list.) Brian enjoys playing guitar, soccer, Xbox, and all things to do with new technology. (He is still trying to talk me into buying an iPad lol) He has been to Disney before when he was younger with his family but seems to have few memories of it.

And this is a more recent photo of us with one of our nephews (I havent uploaded any pictures in like 8 months)

How this trip came about:

I have wanted to go to WDW for as long as I can remember. But making my dream a reality began when I seen an article in a really old magazine talking about Disney offering free dining last year. I thought to myself wow that’s a good deal! I immediately text a photo of the ad to DH. He agrees that it would be a fun vacation. So a few days go by and now I’ve given it too much thought. I am determined that we are going to Disney.

It doesn’t take us long to decide the dates because we have decided we always want to go on some sort of trip for anniversary each year. Also we both hate extreme heat, so that quickly ruled summer out. Our anniversary is September 20th so we decide on the dates September 17-24 at Pop Century. Deciding on Pop was merely a budget decision. The price seemed great and the vibe seemed to fit what I had envisioned Disney to be.

So we get our reservations and now all we have left to do is wait and plan! I begin by getting every WDW book they have at the library and researching online. As I’m searching online I stumble across these boards, which have proven to be the greatest source of information! (Thanks everyone!!!) Between the two I sketch out an idea of our must dos and of course must eats. On a side note DH and I love food. Give him steak and me a cookie and were good to go. I’m sure my TR will be filled with lots and lots of food pics lol

Sounds great so far, you're doing a good job!!

You're going to love POP, we've done our last couple of trips there, the bus service is fabulous and the food court is delish! You can't beat it for the price!We've just outgrown it now that the "baby" (Cole) is sleeping in a bed now, it won't hold our family of 5.

Can't wait to hear more plans and congrats on your upcoming 2 year anniversary! What a great place to spend it!!!! As you know, I honeymooned there and now celebrating our 10 year there!!!

You and Brian got married exactly 3 months before Michael and I did. We were at WDW last Sept (as you know from my TR) and it was SUCH a good time to go!

I'm excited to read along. You will absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Disney World!!! Good luck with all of your planning and let us know if you have any q's about the World!

Thank you. We actually spent a week of our honeymoon in Florida but did everything BUT Disney. Congrats on your 10 year!!!

I actually had planned on making a big post tonight of our first day plans. But it seems time wont allow. First I got carried away on eBay and then Brian and I played an extremely long game of battleship and now its time for me to do some studying. I will try to post day ones plans tomorrow. I do have some good news though my VB mini hipster came today and I LOVE it and I bought a few new shirts for Disney. Isn’t it funny that if you say Disney before an item it makes the purchase more fun!?! Like today I told Brian I need some Disney socks. I think that this is the first time I got excited to buy socks haha.

Welcome!! It will likely be an adventure. I plan to do everything...we will see how that works out. I will probably get to day four and be wiped out. Brian keeps telling me I need to learn to like coffee so I can make it through the day lol. I remind him that I will eat enough sugar to keep me going (you will quickly learn that I love all sweets) .

I have actually challenged myself to not eating any junk food until our trip. We have left over cake from my nieces bday cake I made in the fridge and my mom and dad's bday party this weekend its going to be a long 37 days

Alright, time for Day One!!

I’m so excited for this day! I have an image of what I think Disney will be like from reading a lot of reviews, but this is the day I get to find out for myself!


Our plans for Day one Include:

Flight arrival around 10am…I think haha. I will need to check this.

Take Magic Express to Pop. What is the earliest we can check in? If we are too early will they hold our things until our room is ready??

Head over to MK Take an insane amount of pictures

Grab a snack at Main Street Bakery… I’m so excited to try cookie icecream sandwich!

Spend afternoon and evening at MK
Hope to ride some of the following:

Splash Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain
Buzz Lightyear
Space Mountain
Pirates of Carribean
Jungle Cruise
Haunted Mansion
Peter Pans Flight

Am I missing anything? Are there any rides you would recommend saving for our full day at MK?


Grab QS dinner at Cosmic Rays Is this a good choice any other recommendations instead?



Spectro at 8 Where should we try to sit, is there a location that would be good for Spectro and wishes??

The Main Street Bakery is yummy. :]
For Peter Pan's Flight, you might be better off going to that early in the morning on your full day because the wait time can get high. I've seen 90 minutes in the afternoon/evening for this ride. I went in the morning (around 9:30) and only waited 5-15 minutes. All the other rides, with the use of fastpasses, you should get most of them done!
Cosmic Ray's is great. One of my favorite QS's at MK. Columbia Harbor House is great also. It's very pretty & quiet inside, unlike Cosmic Ray's which can get a little crazy inside, but the food is excellent though.

You must be so excited! Been going to WDW since I was 4 but DH first time was our honeymoon back in 08, we went last yr for our anniversary with my two teens but this yr we are going next month for our second anniversary alone and I cant wait! Your gonna fall in love all over again and return every yr! LOL
