Celebrating my Un-Birthday Disney Style-April 2010-New 5/3 - The TR has started!

sorry Amy I got a bit behind...

Seems like so long ago, but the pictures make it seem like yesterday! I can't believe I'm planning my 4th trip since discovering the DIS! This place is such a bad influence! It's killing my bank account!

don't I know that...I joined the Dis w/ one question for our 2008 trip about a stroller and it has turned into a whole lot more plus 2 trips later I'm on to planning my 3rd and 3 others in the works w/in the next 4 yrs :rotfl:

Quick question with all these picture updates...how much do the kids remember about their trips? How far back do they remember?

do you mind if I chime in?

this seems to be an age 'ol question...

my children have been 2-3 times and their 3rd/4th trip is around the corner The older two were 6 on their first trip and do remember things specifically from each one, even stuff I have forgotten...my middle one was 2 1/2 her first trip so she doesn't remember much from it so the last two are more current to her and like Amy's kids some things blend in together...but her favorite things stay clear!

My youngest just turned 3...so I don't know "what" she remembers but she knows she's been there and who is there and can't wait to go again! :goodvibes

I say go alot if you can when kids are little cause you know it will slow up when they hit those teens years...

Unfortunately the shirts I made didn't hold up after one washing! :headache:

I remember when you made those shirts :thumbsup2

Today I finally got some answers from Jeff & Karen about their plans for April!

:thumbsup2 YAY that is great to hear...

I already heard back with a "whatever you want is great with us" answer about the restaurant, but haven't heard about the water park. Depending on what they say about the waterpark, we'll either go Wednesday as planned, or switch it to Friday so they can join us. We'll see...

This also means that DMIL will be with us for the whole week. She'll visit her mother (Great Gramma - GG) for a week, then come to Orlando with us when we visit her on Sunday 4/25. She'll hang out with us on our first few park days, then she'll hang out with Jeff & the gang at the end of the week. She'll fly home with us.

So what's next?

I am going to come up with two itineraries - one for each of the waterpark options - and try to build in as much flexibility as possible on Thursday - Saturday... which may mean canceling CRT! :sad2: I can't imagine the kids will be too happy to leave the condo early in the morning, while their cousins are still there. I suspect our last two days will involve later starts in the morning. :confused3 I'll see if I can move CRT, but I doubt it at this point. If I didn't have to pre-pay I would just leave it for now and decide at last minute, but I don't want to forget to cancel it 48 hours ahead of time & get stuck with the bill or going if we don't want to. If I have to cancel, I'll get over it... I'll just have to get there the next time I'm at WDW with or without the kids. ::yes::

I think this is very smart...you are so good w/ that...

I also need your HELP... what is a good restaurant for nine people ranging in age from 6 to 66? It can't be in a park. Probably not a character meal - we have two teenagers involved. And we have at least two picky eaters in the mix - me & Alex.
Suggestions??

I know you already booked Boma (did I spell that right?) as never eaten there I still that would be great...w/ all the recent TR's we've read about AKL...it looks amazing there and that would be fun for all to see...I love CP's tips...

one other thought to add some other stuff to the dinner beyond characters (besides Heidi's suggestion of the BW) is Trails End Rest. at FWC...I'm not sure the food is top rate...but it worked for us w/ a buffet and tables when we did 13 there in '05 and the kids like walking around the campground and the twins saw and took their picture w/ some of the HDDR performers that were outside somewhere :confused3 I wasn't w/ them as my SIL took the pic.

like the ADR changes I can even follow it now :rotfl2:...seems like it is coming together for you know...

sad to hear CRT may be on the cutting floor, but understnad the trade off of more family time for the boys w/ their cousins...I'm sure you'll dine there one of these days ;)

Hi Amy! LOVE the picture updates especially the adorable Nemo and Leo costumes!!! Also, the picture of you and Alex on BTMRR, didn't look too crowded that day!!

Your ADR itinerary looks great! None of our meals overlap but all of yours look like fantastic choices!! Boma sounds like a great fit for your large group!! I need to start my more detailed park itineraries now that I have figured out our ADR's and which parks on which days! Almost under 100 days!!!!:woohoo:

Looking forward to more past trip photos!!!! Happy Monday!

The picture from BTMRR in 2006 was our first ride in our first park right after rope drop. We were there the first week of March, which I believe is a good in-between vacations time. We actually rode twice in a row without getting off! :thumbsup2

I'm excited to start thinking about detailed itineraries now too!

sorry Amy I got a bit behind...

I'll have to check out Trails End! Thanks!

Magic Kingdom – Looking Back – Post #6 – Going back to 2008.

My mother was supposed to join us for the 2007 trip but things fell through and she couldn’t come along. So I proposed a mother/daughter trip to see the F&G Festival in the spring of 2008. We didn’t want to use up a whole week of our condo when we were just staying two nights so we got to stay at Pop Century!!

Up next: Magic Kingdom - 2009

April/May 2010 ADRs

Monday, April 26th:
• Hollywood & Vine (Play & Dine) – 11:15am breakfast (for 5)
• Teppan Edo – 5:10pm (for 5)

We love Play & Dine! And Teppan Edo is so much fun!

Tuesday, April 27th:
• Chef Mickey’s – 5pm (only for 4 - I'll cancel once DMIL actually has airline tickets)

Wednesday, April 28th:
• Chef Mickey’s – 5:35pm (for 5)

A Must-do!

Thursday, April 29th:
• Sci Fi Dine at 4:45pm (for 5)

DMIL will think this is a hoot... nice early time slot, too.

Friday, April 30th:
• Le Cellier for 2 at 7:10pm (just in case date night ADR)
• Boma for 9 at 6:20pm

Glad you went with Boma. (I thought I had posted some suggestions, but I guess it didn't go through.) LeCellier is perfect for a date night... hope you can have one!

Saturday, May 1st:
• Crystal Palace at 8:05am
• CRT at 8:05am (I'll cancel one or both of these breakfast ADRs once we know plans better)
• Boma for 9 at 5:05pm

Can't go wrong with either!

Next I'll share my Plan A (waterpark Wednesday) & Plan B (waterpark Friday) itineraries. Plus, Magic Kingdom 2008 & 2009!

Yay!! :yay:

Nice update!! I totally would love a mother/daughter trip! I know we would take more time checking out small details and things that would be off the beaten path!! Cool to see PUSH and the man behind the can!!!

A mother/daughter trip would be so great! I bet you had a fabulous time with your mom! I wonder if I could convince my mom to do one of those...if not, I will have to wait until Chelsea is a little bit older.

The updated ADR"s look great and I'm glad you have a date night built in just in case :thumbsup2

I think you'll like Boma. It is fabulous for adventurous eaters but our picky ones liked it too and it's sooooo pretty in there!
::yes::::yes::::yes::

Boma really is the best buffet on property and you can't go wrong with the atmosphere at AKL...

Bless you for trying to get this together for your family (hmmm...now who's birthday is it you're celebrating again...?...:lmao:

You are right...there are a lot of people who don't get the idea that you have to plan these adrs in advance...like you're just going to wing it on the spot...:confused3

Ok, it took me awhile but thanks to your handy links, I am all caught up. Wow, you have been busy planning! It's harder to plan when you have more than just your immediate family to worry about. It sounds like it's going to be a really fun trip! :)

I'll be back to update later, but just wanted to comment that we'll be on an airplane on our way to Florida in 99 days!!:banana::banana:

Yay!! :yay:

Kathy

Thanks for your comments Kathy! I always think of Billy when I think of H&V!

Nice update!! I totally would love a mother/daughter trip! I know we would take more time checking out small details and things that would be off the beaten path!! Cool to see PUSH and the man behind the can!!!

The mother/daughter trip was nice, but we only had one dry day out of three... I have great memories from the trip though. :thumbsup2

You should do it!! It was fun!

Thanks for the feedback about Boma - I think it's a good choice!

I laughed out loud when I read your comment about "who's birthday is it"! :rotfl: You are sooo right! But half of the birthday fun is planning, right? :confused3

I'm glad the links were helpful - I just went back and added them in within the last month.

I feel like our plans are coming together nicely - hopefully the planning will pay off and it will be a nice trip.

Thanks for all the double digit dancing! When I set up the second ticker - to count down to our first Disney park - I told myself I would use that as the celebration countdown ticker... so much for that idea! I just couldn't resist celebrating 99 days until sunnier and warmer weather!

Magic Kingdom – Looking Back – Post #7 – Going back to 2009. We took advantage of the Buy 4/Get 3 and stayed at CBR to “try out” staying on-site. We loved parts of it, but missed the space. We spent 10 days in Florida, 7 nights at CBR and 2 nights with Jeff before heading to Orlando. This was our longest Disney trip with 6 park days.

Yes - You are right behind me!!:banana: How did you make out with airfare? Are you taking Southwest out of Manchester? I hear a lot of people are having trouble finding reasonable deals. I feel like we made out pretty well with Southwest. The only not so good part is that we are flying in and out of Tampa. Jeff & family live closer to Tampa than Orlando so it works out great for our trip down. I wasn't sure of our itinerary when I booked and Tampa was cheaper than Orlando... Not the end of the world though considering we have a car.

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days!! We fly out of Boston. We are Jet Blue fans (those tv's are addicting!!) and we had $40.00 credit from last years flights. I would love to try Southwest out of Manchester some day though. It is so much easier driving to Manchester than Boston. We hire a local limo service to pick us up here at the house & then bring us home when we return. It helps that I know the owner of the limo company & call him every year & say "I am calling for my discount":) He does give us a slight discount. But I would like to not spend the $$ on that & just drive to Manchester. Now I have to go back & read the pages I have missed!!

I just read that you booked Boma:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 We have been 3 times & is a must do for us!! I also have a peanut allergy & the chef came out & brought me up to the buffet & explained every single food that I could eat & what I could not eat. They were absolutely wonderful!! We have been for breakfast & dinner & LOVE both!!

Your boys always look like they are having such a great time at Disney! Your stay at CBR helped convince us to stay there this past October. We really liked it, but I could see where you would miss the extra space of the condo. :thumbsup2

I love the 2009 pictures but the Tinkerbelle one just cracks me up!

I hear you on missing the space. With the time difference making EMH such a huge factor for us, I can't see us staying off-site again but I missed it as well and will again this summer. As excited as I am for the yacht club I do think we'd have been more comfortable at THV.
