Celebrating my Un-Birthday Disney Style-April 2010-New 5/3 - The TR has started!

Happy Double Digits Amy!! :cool1::banana::banana::cool1:
(Selfishly I am happy you are in double digits because I am only 2 days behind you...:upsidedow)
Great pictures! My hope this trip is to see Spectro, it would be my 2nd time, last time was back in the 90's...I think the kiddos will love it!

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days!! We fly out of Boston. We are Jet Blue fans (those tv's are addicting!!) and we had $40.00 credit from last years flights. I would love to try Southwest out of Manchester some day though. It is so much easier driving to Manchester than Boston. We hire a local limo service to pick us up here at the house & then bring us home when we return. It helps that I know the owner of the limo company & call him every year & say "I am calling for my discount":) He does give us a slight discount. But I would like to not spend the $$ on that & just drive to Manchester. Now I have to go back & read the pages I have missed!!

We flew JetBlue last year and enjoyed it, but we flew out of Portland, ME. But I'm too cheap to pay for additional bags so we carried on what seemed like 5,000 bags! Actually we each checked one and carried two - which means mom & dad carried on 8 bags! Crazy! If JetBlue flew out of Manchester I would consider them again for sure, but between the easy drive to Manchester & the 2 free bags Southwest is the way to go for us.

It may be worth it for the limo - since DMIL is joining us for the trip we will probably leave our car in Manchester, paying $120+ for parking. :headache:

I just read that you booked Boma:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 We have been 3 times & is a must do for us!! I also have a peanut allergy & the chef came out & brought me up to the buffet & explained every single food that I could eat & what I could not eat. They were absolutely wonderful!! We have been for breakfast & dinner & LOVE both!!

I'm glad to hear you give Boma a thumbs up! We've had good luck with food allergies at WDW - they do an amazing job. Alex was on a gluten/dairy free diet for two of our trips.

Your boys always look like they are having such a great time at Disney! Your stay at CBR helped convince us to stay there this past October. We really liked it, but I could see where you would miss the extra space of the condo. :thumbsup2

Thanks - they usually are having a great time! DVC would be the best of both worlds, but it's hard to consider when we already own our off-site condo. Maybe someday! :confused3

I love the 2009 pictures but the Tinkerbelle one just cracks me up!

I hear you on missing the space. With the time difference making EMH such a huge factor for us, I can't see us staying off-site again but I missed it as well and will again this summer. As excited as I am for the yacht club I do think we'd have been more comfortable at THV.

I love that Tink picture! So funny! :rotfl:

Yes - with EMH in the picture you guys definitely want to be on-site. We will probably only be out two or three nights & it won't be past 9 or so.

I remember seeing (and loving) these pix the last time!! :goodvibes

Kathy

Thanks Kathy!! :goodvibes

Thanks Beth!! I've changed up the itinerary a bit... I'll be posting it soon.

Zachary had the "light parade" at the top of his must-do list. However, with the new itinerary it might not work, so I spent some time showing him You Tube video of Illuminations & Wishes trying to convince him that we should skip Spectro. He went for it! :woohoo: He decided the best part of Spectro was being out at night & getting "night souvenirs"! :rotfl2: I assured him we could do that without being at Spectro! We'll see... there are still 3 months to go!

I just had this whole update typed up and poof! gone! When will I learn to copy my text before hitting that button! :headache:

First - We got our Give a Day/Get a Day vouchers this morning!!:banana::banana:

Second - I spent some time in the travel aisle at Target yesterday... :rolleyes1

Finally - The new itinerary! I created a new itinerary based on Jeff & family joining us for our waterpark day - which will be moved to Friday. I like this itinerary so much that I might keep it even if they don't join us at the waterpark. I like it because we can get our major park touring done before Jeff & family arrive. If they join us, great - if not, that's OK but our waterpark day will be a "lighter" touring day so we'll have more time to hang out at the condo. Here it is:

Monday 4/26 - DHS/Epcot - stay for Illuminations
Tuesday 4/27 - late start at AK - mom & dad's night out
Wedneday 4/28 - MK all day - CM dinner & Wishes
Thursday 4/29 - Epcot/DHS
Friday 4/30 - Waterpark day - Boma dinner?
Saturday 5/1 - Revisit our favorites - Boma if we didn't go Friday

Tim & I went to Shula's steakhoue back in 2002 & he loved it. I thought it was way too expensive, but he really wants to go back... so I have booked an ADR for Tuesday night. We'll see... we might go elsewhere but that's the plan for now.

Also - If Jeff & family go to Universal on Friday and still want to go to the waterpark with us we could switch Friday & Saturday, but my preference would be to visit parks on our last day. We'll see... :confused3

Nothing says an upcoming trip like travel sizes! :rotfl:

That was a pretty quick turnaround on the vouchers. Do they email them to you?

The new itinerary looks good -- I love that Zach is looking forward to "night souvenirs." :goodvibes

I'm dying to get some travel items loaded into my two new travel toiletry bags! ;)

Yes - the voucers were emailed. I mailed (snail mail) the photos and donation check on Monday. I also emailed the pictures, at their request, on Monday, but received a generic response that "due to overwhelming response"... it might be days before receiving a reply. I was surprised to find the voucers in my inbox this morning!

You never know what kids will take away from a situation... Night Souvenirs!

in re to CRT...that may be able to be arranged ;)

I'll be back to update later, but just wanted to comment that we'll be on an airplane on our way to Florida in 99 days!!:banana::banana:

YAY! that sounds so great...:thumbsup2

The mother/daughter trip was nice, but we only had one dry day out of three... I have great memories from the trip though. :thumbsup2

You didn't want to share the wet pictures

BTW...the new itinerary looks good...nice to pack in what you can in the begining so if you start running out of steam it's OK...

J~

I like that, too! Makes a lot of sense...

Don't worry there will be wet pictures! Wait until I get to DHS & AK!

As far as the itinerary - I just know the kids will want to spend as much time as they can with their cousins. I wouldn't mind sitting around the pool either!

Which waterpark are you planning on going to? We have never done a Disney waterpark so that is a must for our next trip. Your itinerary looks great. :)

That's still up for debate... I'll do a whole post about that & ask for help from my DIS friends to help us decide. Maybe I'll do that after I finish up my MK look back & before I start Epcot... Thanks for the reminder!

I don't know if any of you remember way back, last year maybe, I mentioned a friend who was going to Disney and hadn't planned anything ahead. She wanted to go to BBB without a reservation, etc., etc. And if you don't remember, well, she's on of "those" who laugh when I tell her about getting up early to make ADRs, tell her my itinerary 6 months ahead, talk about making rope drop, etc. They were at Disney the week before us last year - her parents are new DVC owners. They are going back in mid-June this year.

I nearly fell to the ground when she called last night asking for help with her June ADRs!!! :scared1: Granted she is making them 5 months out rather than 6 but I was so impressed I couldn't stop beaming. It was like my little girl had grown up! With my help she has booked Chef Mickey's, Teppan Edo, O'Hana, Boma, 50's PTC and a couple others that she had already booked that I don't remember.

Remember how I said I was going to stay caught up? Yeah...well, I really had the best of intentions! Oh well! I'm back up to speed now. :confused3

I am loving the retro pics....I love to see how the boys have grown! :goodvibes

Here's a double digit dance for ya...didn't want to miss the party!

I know how hard it is to keep up when you aren't in DIS mode... I'm glad you stopped by to say Hi! Thanks for the dance! Tomorrow will be my double digits until Disney day! (Since we're spending the first four days visiting family.)

I love this picture of all of you and "Baby Yeti"...we have a "Baby Yeti"...we "had" to adopt him after EE because David thought he needed us to take care of him...what was going to happen to the other 999 yeti stuffies...I don't know...:confused3

That was a great update and lots of fab photos! It is fun to remember past vacations. We signed up for the linus project, and I am off to get some material this weekend end.

My friend (the new DIS planning convert) is coming over tonight with her family for pizza & Wii. I can't wait to talk Disney! Hopefully she won't laugh at me anymore. ;)

Don't you just love the Yeti! He makes a great pillow - I put him under my head when I'm in Zach's bed with him reading books at night. :thumbsup2

I'm glad you got a volunteer opportunity - sounds like they are going really fast!

ooooooooooo...travel aisle love!

Did you like shula's if it wasn't for the prices?

I thought you'd enjoy those travel aisle pictures! :lovestruc

Honestly all I can remember is the menu being on a football, Tim ordering an $8 baked potato that he didn't eat & that he really enjoyed the place. I'm sure the steaks were fantastic, but I just couldn't get past the potato. :rolleyes1 He said he ordered it by accident - since it's usually included in the entree price he automatically follows his steak order with a baked potato. :confused3 He loved the place and always mentions it when I ask him where he wants to eat. I decided to give in this time to help get some great Disney memories in his head. If it takes expensive steak to get him back to Disney on a regular basis, we can swing it. And it will probably be less expensive than CRT! :rolleyes1 We're a little better off financially now than when we went there in 2002 so it probably won't seem as expensive as it did then. ;)
