Celebrating Mother's Day 2009... WE'RE HERE!!! update 5/11

Never been to HDDR but isn't it a long show? I honestly don't know if you would make it. My guess would be no. I just wouldn't want to chance it.

Well I know it can't go psat 7pm, b/c that's when the second show starts lol

Do the 5:00 Hoop-De-Doo on Mother's Day! We'll be at that exact same show!

I am def leaning towards it? When are ya'll doing fantasmic that week. Do you think it would be possible to make it there sunday night?

Happy late V-day everyone!!!

Just to give a quick update we have decided on a partial itentary.

May 8th- leave VA around 6am. Arrive in Savannah, GA around 2pm and eat at Lady and Sons Resturant!!! (I am as excited about this as disney!!! I know my hubby and parents couldn't believe it either, but I just L-O-V-E this woman!!! and have been wanting to go to her resturant for over 3 years now!!!) Anywhoo... Hopefully get left there by 5pm, which should put us in orlando around 10pm. We are still debating on whether to stay on-site Friday night or off-site. I'm trying to convience to stay on-site since we are staying off site for the week, but we will see who wins.

May 9th- hoping for Chef Mickey ressie to get the week started then head to MK for the day to see wishes and spectro that night. We'll do CS for dinner.

May 10th- Mother's day!
This year we are really going to do up Mother's Day for my mom since we normally go with all her sister's to gatlinburg and it's all about my granny. DH, Dad and I are going to decorate Saturday night after mom goes to be bed, so it's a surprise Sunday morning, and we are going to make her breakfast before going to the parks. We will probubly do Epcot today as that is Mom's fav park. She wants to do HDDR for dinner so we are going to plan for a 5pm ressie and hope we can get to DHS for 9pm fantasmic.

Well that's it so far. Hopeing to call tomarrow for ADR's we shall see what we get tomarrow?!?! That's going to make a big difference in the itenterary!!!

Any suggestion or comments feel free to make them!

I made it over Looks like you've put a great plan together! Your Mom will have a great Mother's Day for sure. Can't wait to see what your plan looks like after you make your ADR's!

Last year I bought DH the fishing excursion for his birthday (the 7am session) and he loved it. I'm thinking of a segway tour this year for his birthday but he will have to do it by himself because of the kiddos. Can't wait to read more!

That's so sweet that you are doing that for your Mom! I'm sure she will enjoy it!!!!! IMHO if the next HDDR show starts at 7pm you should definitely be able to make it for Fantasmic. If it doesn't work out do you get another shot at it on Thursday? If you do you could always consider doing the Fantasmic pkg.

Good luck on your ADR's!!! I hope you get the times you are looking for. I make ours tomorrow too!!!!

I just called and made 2 ADR's and I got:
Chef Mickey's - 5/9 at 9:50am
HHDR - 5/10 at 5pm This one I'm not so sure about. All they had left was Cat. 3. It's only $10 more per person to upgrade if I can find anything else. Has anyone else done HDDR and what cat were you in?

We're in Category 2 and I'm really hoping we get the center balcony seats as opposed to the back of the floor seats. Ok everyone... I called disney back last night to check again, and guess what... they had openings in every category?! My responce was huh??? I was told no like 15 mins ago... and the responce was well we have every opening now!!! WOOT WOOT So I booked it!!! Cat. 1!!!

I do like the idea about being above the stage, but I have a fear of being behind a pole.

Hi everyone!!!

Sorry I haven't been on here in so long, but work and life in general has been CRAZY buzy!!!

I am having a hard time debating on where to eat each day besides our ADR's I really want to do something different than what we normally do, but it's so hard, b/c everywhere we eat is SOOO good!!!

We have decided to leave on Thursday when everyone gets off work, and drive to SC or GA haven't decided for sure, b/c not sure what time everyone can get off. We plan on getting up Friday morning and heading straight for Savannah to the Lady and Sons for lunch, then back on the road to DISNEY WORLD!!!! We should be there by 9pm at the latest. That will give us a full day on Saturday!!! WOOT WOOT Yes it's only one more day, but at disney one more day it ALOT!!!! Anywhoo... hopefully I will be able to post more often soon, and with more details.

Oh yea... we got 12 1/2 inches of snow Saturday and Sunday!!!! That's the most we had at one time since 1998!!! Normally we get an inch maybe 2 max.

Does anyone know a good, clean hotel to stay at between florence, sc and savannah, ga? It's 2 hours from Florence to Savannah, and at this point we won't get left until after 6pm, and Florence is a 5 1/2 hour drive, but we'd like to get within a 2 hours drive a Savannah. If you have an recommendations closer to Savannah, that's fine too even if it's in Savannah. The closer we are to Savannah, the later we could sleep in if we were later getting there.

So everyone.. it been a WHILE since I've updated, so this one will be a bit long.
Well as you noticed this PTR has had a name change. I will no longer be returning to school. I was going back for Respiratory therapy, then I went for my interview last thursday to find, the local hospital does not hire new grad so I would have to get a job at the next hospital which is 1 1/2 hour away Yeah... not gunna happen lol

Anywhoo... I am now pursuing a full-time job, and actually got a call to interview on Monday at a local bank... fingers crossed!!!

Now onto the trip... DH and I are really going to play up Mother's day this year for my mom. When we originally planned this trip, we never thought about it being Mother's day the w/e we arrive, so it should be a big surprise to her. We typically go to Gatlinburg, TN every mothers day so we can get together with my mom's sisters to be with my granny (their mom) on Mother's day, so it's normally all about Granny. With that being know, DH and I were talking one night, and he suggested since It will just be us and my parent's this year for mother's day how about we REALLY play up Mother's day for your Mom... EXCELLENT IDEA!!!!!! We are going to do hoop-dee-do revue on Sunday evening, and saturday night after Mom goes to bed, DH and my dad and I are going to decorate the condo, so she wakes up to it Sunday morning, then make her a special breakfast!!! I am so excited. Mom had rather have something like this than any gift. She's definetly a thought more than cost person.

So far the itentary is as follow:

5/7- leave when everyone gets off work, about 6pm and drive within an hour of Savannah, GA

5/8- 9:30am (somewhere around there) leave hotel and drive to lady & son's (paula dean's resturant) and get on waiting list, then browse around downtown Savannah, GA while waiting to be seated.
Have lunch, then drive the reat of the way to WDW. Hope to be at Westgate Vacation Villas by 6 or 7pm.
Maybe resort hop a little and see wishes from the poly beach, or just hang at the pool. Dinner at Earl of Sandwich maybe??

5/9- Chef Mickey's at 9:50am then head into MK.
If it's crowded we'll head somewhere else, but no trip is complete without first see..... THE CASTLE
9pm MK to see Wishes and Spectro

5/10- Special breakfast at condo then Epcot hopefully at rope drop!!!
Hoop-dee-do Revue 5pm
If time head to MGM for Fantasmic at 9pm

5/13- 8:30am Segway tour at Epcot. This is DH's b-day gift that he doesn't know about yet. His b-day is 4/1 APRIL FOOLS!!! No really that's his birthday

That's all that's planned so far. We want to do different resturants then normal, so we are having a hard time deciding, but hopefully in the next couple days we will have some more ADR's to make!!!


OH ps... I don't have any colors to chose from for fonts any suggestions???

Hi Everyone!!!

Well today is DH birthday and earlier in the week he opted to get his present sunday at his party, but of course today is is driving him crazy to know what it is. Since it's the segway tour, I going to try and make a miniture replica of a segway, and put it in a box with a picture of each of the counties in epcot and then a picture of spaceship earth.
Let me know what you think thus far.
As of now the only way I can come up with to make the segway is to cut wheels, base, and handles out of cardboard and connect with wooden dowels, then paint gray. If anyone has any other suggestions PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!! feel free to give input. I wandered around wally world for 1 1/2 hours trying to come up with something, and this is the best thing I can come up with sad I know.
I post pics once it's completed, but I don't think I'm going to start working on it until Friday, b/c I'm not so sure I want to make it with cardboard, so I'm hoping someone can lend some suggestions please please please!!!!

The Segway at 8:30 should be fine as World Showcase doesn't open up until 11am. You will have people walking from the Boardwalk, YC/BC, etc hotels and anyone going to Norway for breakfast but then the rest of the area is blocked off so people just can't wander about. ExDH did a later one and I was able to find his group in Morocco just after 11am, still World Showcase was practically empty.

My question is (don't know what RCI is) are you having to do a "short" timeshare thing?My mom and dad have 2 weeks through RCI (it's just a timeshare company, like what DVC is) we just transfered a week to westgate instead of using it at out home resort in Myrtle Beach, SC.
What did you think of westgate? We've never stayed there before. WE've only ever done Orange Grove, and I don't really remember to much about that because for the last 4 or 5 times we've gone we've stayed at Shades of green
