We are taking Ds's to Disneyland ON his 6th birthday. We are flying out at 7am and will land around 10am.

I would really like to do something to recognize his birthday on the airplane or at the airport.

I don't think wrapped gifts are alloweed thru security so that probably isn't an option.

Has anyone done something fun to celebrate a birthday on the actually flight or before at the airport? If so, I would love some ideas!!!!

I dont think there are restrictions on wrapped packages (except liquids) through security. However, you would be taking a chance if the screener could not tell what was in the package, you could be asked to unwrap it. You could always use gift bags.
Since your flight is early, you could make birthday muffins. Or, heck you are on vacation, have cupcakes at 6 am with your coffee.

No wrapped gifts - but you can have a box with a bow - security just needs to be able to open it. Maybe give him six gifts en route he can open - you can wrap the ones you won't be carrying on the plane.

I say it never fails to mention it to a flight attendant - maybe the pilot could even just say something to him on the way off the plane - a big one would be announcing it.

Bring a cupcake with frosting in a small plastic container or bag and ask the flight attendant if you can frost it on board with one of their utensils. If you have a nice one - they might even offer to bring it to him and start singing happy birthday. the whole plane might just join in.

Have fun!

You can get Disney Enchanted Calls, so his favorite character can call him and wish him a happy birthday, or to have a wonderful trip. :thumbsup2

The earliest you can set it up is 6am so its perfect timing. I gave one to several people who came with me on my last trips and they received them at the airport. They have become a huge hit and we all still talk about them.

Here is where you get the enchanted calls from

The gifts don't even have to be wrapped. I spent my 12th birthday driving with my family to my grandparents' house and my mom had hidden little unwrapped gifts all over the minivan and would give me clues as to their locations at different points in the trip. It was a lot of fun to have a new toy or trinket every hour or so. Since you don't have a whole car, you could hide them in your carry-on bags and slip one into the pocket in front of his seat and maybe put one on his seat when he gets up to go to the bathroom.

I would put the gift in a gift bag or fabric sack. If you are handy with sewing at all you can easily make up a drawstring bag. Disney fabric at Walmart is about $5 a yard.

I love the idea of a birthday cupcake or muffin. You can bring matches, right?

What great ideas!! Thank you so much!

phishy - I don't think I will bring matches....that would probably get me arrested!:rotfl2:

No matches....but you can bring a disney candle anyhow....I saw a Pooh at our local grocery store.
