Our arrival day is my husband's birthday. We are staying at OKW. Any suggestions for what is available to help him celebrate? I'm not looking for freebies, but should I tell staff in advance, because as much as he would deny it, I think he would be really pleased to have a bit of a fuss made over him celebrating his birthday at Disneyworld!

The staff has always sent some balloons with a card to my kids when I let them know about birthdays.

Why not do an illuminations birthday cruise? It is really nice. Kinda pricey, but well worth it for the memories.

There is also Gifts of a Lifetime who will do special things for your DH. I believe the site is www.giftsofalifetime.com.

Happy planning!

It can't hurt to tell them, but you cannot count on anything. When we were staying at BWV for our 25th Anniversary, I mentioned it when I made the reservation, but nothing was ever mentioned when we arrived or later.

However, if you make a PS at one of the WDW restaurants and tell them that you are celebrating your DH's birthday, they may bring a small cake over after your meal. I have seen these cakes being brought to tables at several WDW restaurants.

They did this at Artist Pointe when I told them we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. I might add that they did not bring the cake over until they had taken our dessert order. ;)

The cake was a devil's food with chocolate icing and two crossed candles. It was delicious!!! I told them when I made the PS at 60 days out, but reminded them when I changed the reservation to a different time when we arrived at WLV. I am not sure it would have happened had I not told them when I made the change because they did not seem to have it noted on the prior PS.

I think AP is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. Brown Derby at MGM is another. I hope your stay is special!

Don't expect anything and you won't be disappointed!
We went in March 2001 for my Grandson's 6th birthday on St Patrick's Day.
I mentioned his birthday when we made reservations, and at check in at OKW.

A few days later I asked about ordering a cake and they referred me to the Boardwalk Bakery...OKW only had chocolate. He never got a thing, not even a "Happy Birthday"!
I kinow WDW is not obligated, but I have heard that many on this board reported getting balloons. etc.
By the way, the cake was excellent!

I mentioned to the front desk that my father's 60th was being celebrated (OKW) and while we were in the parks, they left balloons and a signed postcard in our room for him. The grandkids got a big kick out of it. We ate at the Rose and Crown and had outside seats but under the awning..not bad. I did ask about having cake/singing. They brought the cake/candle out and we sang.

You can also stop at the Town Hall in MK and they will give you a big button pin to wear; many cast members will make a fuss over the bday pin. I had one ask if anyone made the "bday phone call" for me........he made the call and put me on the phone at a gift shoppe. Cute.

I think it's just the luck of the draw as far as your room goes (balloons, etc.). But it can't hurt to ask. Make your own celebration just in case. We tried for the illuminations cruise but it was booked. There are only a handful of boats.
Remember, just being there is quite a gift! Enjoy.
