Has anyone celebrated "approximate" birthdays at WDW (i.e., having it a few days before the "real day" in order to do it at Disney)? My son will be 7 yrs on June 30 and we'll be there, staying onsite, just a couple of days before. It'd be fun to ring in that birthday when we're actually there, in a low-key but special way. Short of lying or cheating, ha, does anyone know if the CM's, at the hotel or otherwise, are willing to kind of bend the birthdate a little for this purpose, and add that extra bit of attention they give for "birthday kids"?

Thanks!!

Last year we arrived 2 days after my dds turned 9. We celebrated at Chef Mickey's. How often do you ever really celebrate on the day? I know we have our kids' parties on the weekend before/after, or sometimes many days after.

This year we are arriving on 3/27, which just happens to be their actual 10th b-day. Just my luck, now Disney say's they are adults:rolleyes:

So I say go for it! BTW - June 30 is my b-day! Wish I could celebrate at WDW!

My DH and my Father have birthdays on 12/26 and 12/27. We had breakfast w/ Pooh @ the Crystal Palace on 12/30 and I just told the server that we were "celebrating 2 birthdays today." She asked my husband if it was his actual birthday or his "Disney celebration birthday." He told her his b-day had been 3 days earlier and she said "well happy belated b-day then!" and later had Pooh come out w/ cupcakes and cards for them. I asked her if ti was a problem to celebrate it not on the actual day. She said no, that they have people celebrate their half birthdays all the time. ;) I would just pick a day to celebrate it, get a birthday button and do your fun stuff that day. :)

We planned our trip to be right smack dab in the middle of our kids birthdays (they are 8 weeks apart) so we could "celebrate" each one at one meal. We will explain to them that since we can't go to WDW on their "really real" birthday, that we will celebrate it at this character meal. We will let them wear a birthday button that day but will only do the birthday "thing" at one meal each.

My birthday is 2/28. DD's will be 16 on 3/18. We will be at WDW 3/5 to 3/10. We plan on celebrating both birthdays!

We will be departing WDW just 16 days shy of my DD's 5th birthday. I asked about celebrating it some way when I made my hotel reservations and they said,"no problem" and made a note on our reservations. They also suggested mentioning it when making a PS for special birthday attention.

We were fortunate enough to get into CRT on our very first morning there. I mentioned we will be celebrating her birthday when I made the PS and they gave me a phone number for ordering a birthday cake 48 hours prior. It may be free. I read somewhere on the board it may be $10.

A small price to pay to celebrate my little girl's special day.

I can't wait! :earseek:

Thanks very much y'all -- this really answers my question, and so now it's time for me to decide what birthday course to take!

Neat, llp, that your birthday is 6/30! Lots of cool people born on that day...

to WDW he was my BF and his birthday was going to be the day after we left. I decided that since he hadn't been to WDW in over 15 years that I was going to celebrate his BDay while we were there.

It just so happened that my DN, who lives only 30 minutes from WDW, was turning 2 only 6 days after our trip, so I thought they could celebrate together at one of our PS's.

I decided that the celebration would be on our first night at Chef Mickey's. I had them make a note on our PS and then I called the restaurant to order a cake. It went off without a hitch and was wonderful! The cake was delicious, just as I had ordered, beautifully decorated and Chip, Dale and Minnie helped them celebrate and blow out the candles!

Well, at every PS there after, we got cards, cupcakes, decorated tables and very special treatment! That was a wonderful trip!

So now, every year we go to WDW in October and celebrate my DH and DN's birthdays, but only at the one PS where I have them make a note of it!

I wonder if that first trip is why my then BF became my now DH and ONLY wants to vacation at WDW? Huh?;) ::yes::

This thread is helping me! My son will turn 10 the day after we return (we wanted to pay the child's admission price one last time!). We're going to Chef Mickey's on our last night, so I'm planning to tell them we're celebrating a birthday. He's so shy, I hope it doesn't scar him for life. I may need to think about this one...

Don't count on Disney doing something special just because you mention you are celebrating a birthday or occasion.

Many people have posted they were dissapointed. If you want a celebration plan and pay for it yourself. Then if WDW decides to do it also you have a double celebration.

Just an FYI.

I made a PS at Liberty Tree Tavern for DD and I. I mentioned that we will be celebrating her 16th birthday. The CM put a note on our PS asking them to have a cake for her. It is a character dinner. She said that a character will bring DD the cake and a card signed by the characters. Sounds nice to me!

Just tell anyone on the Disney property that you are CELEBRATING ANYTHING and Dollar Signs just blur their vision lke the the shine of Cortez's Gold Treasure and are happy to make your experience MAGICAL!.
Ref; page 1 paragraph 2 line one , in the Mickael Eisner Cast Member Hand Book on how to treat Guests.
Can you tell I'm a long term WDW Stockholder!
"I've received a piece of Walt's Gold from Captain Eisner and I have been cursed!"
AAARRR!!! AAARRR!!! AAARRR!!!

We went to WDW in July a few days after my youngest DS's 2nd Birthday. We chose Chef Mickeys for the celebration. We ordered a cake ($15.00 I think) and they placed a birthday place mat at his seat with the characters and their signatures. When they do the celebration song the characters stop by and do a quick dance at the table of the Birthday people.

It was a great time but my brother in law called it aerobic dining. With 4 kids and 5 adults it was a little chaotic. We have already decided we will celebrate his next Disney birthday in a more relaxed and casual manner at the Hoop De Do review in 2006.

Hi guys,
This info and advice continues to help! Thanks again. I've decided to shoot for reservations at Liberty Tree on our "MK night," our last and the one closest to "the birthday" and arrange for a cake. The characters there are our favorites and my son will be so happy!

We'll get the birthday button and consider any extra attention "icing on the cake" so to speak-- heck , he'll feel special with just that button! My mom, who always adds extra flair  was absolutely dying to get one of those birthday cake hats when we were there last, and that was nowhere near anyone's birthday. So as you can imagine the first thing she said about this idea was, "Oh, we can get one of those hats for Riley! But he wouldn't wear it. Hey, but I can wear it!"

Ever feel like "the grownup" in the group, even with other adults there? ;)

Best of luck to you others celebrating birthdays!

Just say you're celebrating his birthday week! That way, you're not lying, not cheating, you're telling the truth, the CMs love it cause it's different, and your son will enjoy it cause he gets a whole week instead of one day.

I did that just recently with my son. We went to WDW the week of his bday. Even though his bday was the last day of our stay, we still got him a bday button. However, we didn't ask for anything special from any of the CMs. I think they just love doing something special for the guests, because DS got a special Dapper Dans performance, a trading pin for his hat, a cupcake with a birthday candle at CRT.

Celebrating all week made it more special. So go ahead... celebrate birthweek instead of birthdays!!!

We have done this too!!

This is going to be the first time we are celebrating on the actual day.

DD is going to be ONE on May 8th!!!

We are going to be celebrating DD (who turned 4 in January) UN-BIRTHDAY!!

Does anyone know if they do anything special for kids bithdys at breakfast at Crystal Palace?

Thanks,
Lisa

What about Anniversary Celebrations. My DH and I are going to Disney May 8-16 for our 12th Anniversary, our actual anniversary is Apr. 4th. We couldn't go until May, do they do anything special for anniversary's???:lovestruc

Is a month early too early - for an almost 4 year old? My granson won't turn 4 until about a month after our trip.....but based on some of the special things people are saying - sounds like it would be fun. But don't want to take advantage. I kind of feel like a month away is too far?

We went to Crystal Palace for my DD's 8th birthday and she got a birthday card signed by the Pooh characters. I think they might've also brought her a cupcake, but I don't remember. We picked up a birthday button for her and she got to ride in the front car at BTMRR...she was thrilled. This year, we will be leaving on my DDs 3rd birthday (Good Friday) :( I really hate that, I think we will do something earlier that week (we are spending the last 2 days at Universal and I'd really like to celebrate at Disney!)
