Celebrate! A Street Party Viewing Tips

While this hasn't been confirmed by anyone yet. I've heard rumours that we may be running this concurrently with A Christmas Fantasy Parade during the Christmas season this year.

I don't know how exactly it would work, as it would mean that Disneyland Park could have up to 4 parades per day, which would be a logistical nightmare.

In addition, we may be running this during the 55th Anniversary celebration next year, in conjunction with or in replacement of a 55th Anniversary parade.

Where EXACTLY should we sit for the parade at the IASW location. We have 2 young DDs so we'll need up front and "sitting" seats. TIA!

The "celebration zone" area goes from the the first corner past small world down to the next corner opposite the Storybook Land Canal boats. Anywhere along that area is within "the zone". To stay out of the sun, sit on the Storybook Land side, though there's not quite as much space there. But if you're going to have to wait a long time (and for front row seating, I'll bet it's at least an hour, and maybe more right now) you'll probably want the shade.

Aw...shoot. We saw Block Party Bash at CA in 2005. What did we think of it? Well, last year at WDW we went out of our way to not see it again.

Much as I love energetic young folk, I don't want to spend half an hour watching them jump around. After watching all three of the videos that were posted here I would say that I'll schedule it in so the kids can see it...but to me, this is neither a parade nor a show. It's like an extended park-opening presentation. Fun, but not on par with the real parades.

Obviously money is an issue at Disney these days. I'm sure this "party" is being produced at about 1/4 of the cost of a real parade.

glendalais, to me, this is a wonderful rumor!!! While I was coming down from my adrenaline high after seeing Celebrate! last weekend, I was coming to grips with the fact that it's a temporary show and would be gone by the Christmas season.

If it's life is extended into next year, by running concurrent with the regular parades, that would be my ideal dream come true! Logistically, it would be a challenge, but certainly not unheard of. At the Magic Kingdom in WDW, they have their (smaller) street party, Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! running concurrently with two traditional parades: Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade AND Spectromagic. I think that would be the way to go. They could scale down CASP when the full parades come back. I think I'd like that a lot. Yes, I do. :)

Yes, but the Magic Kingdom Park also has extremely large walkways and has very little trouble keeping traffic moving during their parades.

Here at the DLR, we have to basically cause a giant traffic jam throughout Disneyland Park in order to have a parade. Basically, it could become impossible at times to actually exit the park.

However, we have pulled off traffic flow miracles in the past, and I'm sure we'll do so again.

Adding to that is that there are three ways for guests to exit Disneyland. The monorail, Main Street, and taking the train to Main Street. I agree about the traffic nightmare when ever parades are running. Parades cut the park in half meaning to get from east to west you have to cross the parade route and only at certain spots.

I think they will scale it back or get rid of the new parade depending on the crowds. I would come back 3 or 4 times to see the Christmas parade or Fantasmic but honestly do not think I will see this new parade due to the music and stuff.

Just my 2 cents...I am probably in the minority, but Disney should stick with the traditional parade that moves at a slow steady pace moving along its route. I don't want to watch paying customers become part of the parade nor do I want to figure out where one of these key viewing spots are or all you see are the floats flying by you.

I'll pass on this "parade" come August when I am there.

Uggg, yes...... this is why I'm not a huge fan of the parades. DH and I would litterally get trapped at DL and couldn't leave! Okay, writing that now, it doesn't sound so bad. But it was frustrating at the time to not be able to cross the street and get to the side where you could actually exit. After that happened a couple of times we learned to plan our exits before the parade started or know that we were going to stay awhile longer.

I also remember the parade at that time would have guests, that they selected earlier in the day, as part of the parade and i think maybe they had them wearing funny outfits (tutus?) or something and had them sort of dance down the street. I thought it looked kind of dumb and when I heard the street party was having guests participate I thought it sounded like the same idea so wasn't too impressed. I did look at some of the pictures of the street party and it looked kind of cute (the characters, that is) so I wouldn't mind catching a glimpse of the show but I don't plan on stopping to watch the whole thing.

if you want to SIT while watching CASP, the only viewing location that allows this is at IASW. At both The Hub and along Main St. USA, the guest control CMs instruct everyone that they have to STAND during the show--except within the handicap sections, of course. You can sit while *waiting* for the street party, but once its near show time, they'll ask you to stand.
After watching Celebrate the past two weekends, I have to edit my note above. The guest control CMs at IASW are now instructing guests to also stand for Celebrate. They don't enforce it as strictly as they do on Main Street USA or the Hub, but most people comply. There are always a few who remain sitting at first, but when everyone else stands around them, they usually follow suit.

If you're looking for a good place to be when the parade stops to preform, I would recommend sitting in the Plaza Inn area in front of the castle, it's one of the parade stops along the route and you'll have a higher chance of getting picked to participate in the parade. Get there early and hopefully snag a spot right at the front of the sidewalk so you have a front row view. My 4 yr old daughter got picked to dance, then got to join the conga rope line, and we both got to bang on some hand drums that the preformers passed out. :yay: It was wonderful, we had such a blast. Have a great time at DL!

I don't know if they do this at all the show stop areas but to get an idea if your going to be in a good spot or not wait until the CMs in the Black shirts come along and "mark" out the parade route using colored tape. All the floats and units stop exactly on the tape, so if your right in front of one of those you know you will have a great spot!
