I didn't know where this was, but now know it is in Sandusky, Ohio. Is this right?

My son "thinks" this is an absolute MUST for summer 2004. What airport would we fly into? I HATE to rent cars and drive in unknown cities. Would a txi be outrageous from the airport (how far is the airport?)

What hotle do you suggest? I did find a website with some hotls mentioned and that fact there is a water park close by. Does it really get warm enough there for a watwr park? The water parks at WDW seem a little cool even in July to me. My DS loves them, though.

Yes- Cedar Point is in Sandusky. You could probably fly into Toledo, Ohio- Cleveland, Ohio or Detroit, Michigan- Toledo being the closest. If you go in the SUMMER it will be warm enough for water parks. Cedar Point is , I believe among the TOP 10 Roller Coaster parks in the world. Don' t expect it to be like WDW though- far from it. Sandusky and Cedar Point are not what you would think of as a resort area!! My teens LOVE Cedar Point- yours will too. Taking a taxi would probably be quite expensive- as for hotels- they have the same old, same old- Fairfield, etc.

We get seasonal passes. Very fun! Yes, it gets plenty warm and if you look at the Cedar Point web site, the Hotel Breakers is one of CP's hotels and you can walk to the park from there.

I would fly into Cleveland, then you only have a 1 hour drive to Sandusky,Oh. I would stay at the Hotel Breakers right on Cedar Point property

Directions from Cleveland would be to get on the Ohio Turnpike heading west towards Toledo, then get off exit 7(don't remember new exit number) on the turnpike. Then take Route 250 north(Cedar Points signs all over after you get off turnpike)From the turnpike exit it is only about a 15 minute ride to Cedar Point.

Cedar Point is the top roller coaster park in the USA!!!!!!

Last yr, I had a trip all planned out to go to Cedar Point....but we didn't get there.

Here are some links I saved to help with the planning:

http://www.cedarpoint.com/ Definitely read up -- some rules are different from Disney parks... like "no backpacks".....

http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/soak_city/

www.guidetothepoint.com (complete w/ message boards to aks your questions!!!)

Be sure to call for Getaway Guide -- which contains valuable coupons on admission, hotels, & food. I think the # is 1-800-BEST-FUN. You may be able to sign up on their website too once it gets closer to opening day.

OH... and WE ARE getting there THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!

jamsmom - we're holding a DIS Meet there this August - RIDDLECON! :) Maybe you could come this year instead of waiting a whole extra year!!! ;)

In any case - if you follow the link in my siggy - it will lead you to the riddlecon page, which, in turn, has links to area hotels and Cedar Point itself.

Happy planning! :)

Wow! Great info. Thanks everyone.

OldKicker- $ says no this year. I took my oldest niece to WDW in Jan. and am taking my other niece in June. My DS says he doesn't want to go to WDW for 2-3 years:eek: He just wants top go to Sea World and Fiesta Texas in San Antonio. (It is MUCH cheaper)

Since he isn't real tall, I am hoping another year will give him enough height to get on the rides he wants to ride.
