Hi guys, I am arriving from overseas and will be renting a full size car from alamo. I called my credit card and was told that if I pay the rental with my visa card they will provide me the car protection (CDW/LDW). Should I still buy the protection from Alamo or do you think I will bo ok with the credit card insurance? Thanks in advance.

Ask the Credit Card company if they will cover damage or they will actually pay for Alamo's coverage for you. hertz has an agreement with the US Military that travel on orders using the government card for the rental will allow "free" (read per-negotiated into the government rate) Hertz CDW/LDW coverage.

However, it may be that the credit card is going to act as the insurance company, if they say they will cover any damage.

In the end, find out where this coverage is in writing. If indeed it does have Alamo's CDW/LDW's coverage as the insurance, find out how the billing will happen (it goes on the card an CC refunds the amount, there is a standing agreement into the rate, etc) and ensure it is on the rental recipt in the correct format (charged or not but listed as covered).

Good luck!

A lot of the credit card companies will give you coverage after you have exhausted your own personal insurance. Check and see if that is the case.
