CDC Notifies States, Large Cities To Prepare For Vaccine Distribution As Soon As Late October

Late September there was an article written about this in my country (Netherlands). They estimated that 25.000 people have health issues for several months. At that moment, about 120.000 people had tested positive. So about 20%.
Reported issues are diverse: tiredness, muscle or headaches, no energy, not being able to smell/taste, shortness of breath.

I've seen that number elsewhere....20-25%.

If everyone can get vaccinated what’s the issue? If someone doesn’t want to protect themselves that’s on them.

Yes, but it's going to take some time for everyone who wants to be vaccinated to get vaccinated - during that time we must still wear masks until it is determined whether or not those who've been vaccinated can still shed virus, or if so, perhaps 'til all who want to have been able to get vaccinated. That is my understanding.

What do you think is safer- walking around maskless but vaccinated or unvaccinated with a mask?

I’ll go with the vaccine as soon as I qualify. And wear a mask as long as it’s required in my state line it now. Regardless I will continue to social distance indoors and outdoors. Masks are not required outside and no one is monitoring it inside at most stores. I don’t enter office buildings or bars, no idea what kind of mask wearing occurs in those venues.

I began masking the day it was made mandatory and the day the mandates are lifted will be the last I wear a mask - period. Doesn't matter to me if it's the result of vaccines, naturally waning numbers or whatever else might lead our officials to make the decision. Nobody else's opinion about whether or not we should keep wearing them just to be on the safe side will matter a fig to me.

There's still a serious question as to how effective the antibodies are and how much exposure may result in reinfection. For instance, football coach Nick Saban just got reinfected and this time he's got symptoms when his previous infection was asymptomatic.

That might not be true. The first time he tested positive, he retested negative after, so since he didn’t have symptoms, it was thought to be a false positive. So not a guaranteed case of reinfection.

There have been others verified as having a second infection.

Certainly anything that could reduce the rate of transmission would be awesome. But combining a vaccine with extensive mask use would probably be the best we could hope for.

Yes, true, but I have yet to see this as a significant number. Just certain reported instances here and there.

He wasn’t positive the first time. It was a false positive.

Very few.
