Hi- I was looking at availability for CCV and was wondering why the deluxe studio was more popular than the deluxe studio with walk-in shower??? There is almost no availability for a deluxe studio ( seriously, 2 nights in the next 11 months) while there is a smattering of rooms available for those with a walk-in shower......

Is it location? numbers of rooms? or does it have more to do with Disney releasing rooms to inventory?

When I pull up the room plan they both show the same deluxe room.....

Thanks

I honestly can't say why. However, I would suspect it has to do with DVC recently declaring more of the rooms into the condo. Also most of the tubs are on the first floor. It also could be that the alternate studios (except 1) have tubs. So maybe people are trying to get that room.

I think many families prefer to have a tub for younger kids plus as PP said, the chance to get the alternate layout.

In 2017 we booked a CCV Walk-in shower studio directly from Disney. I was confused about the difference as well so I called and the CM I spoke with said there is no guarantee you’ll get a walk in shower even if you book it. We got a tub. Not sure why it’s even a separate booking category really.

I would think DVC reservations would be more likely to be what you requested (unless your room was taken out for emergency maintenance). Essentially all rooms book to 100% and they specifically have different booking categories. I would say these are similar to the view categories in some sense in the way they would be treated.

I believe there was a big outcry at the beginning from people insisting that they have a tub so they then added the separate category. I didn't realize that it wouldn't then be guaranteed.

See my above post. I was told it’s a guarantee for DVC reservations unless the room was removed for maintenance last minute.

This was not DVC it was direct book through Disney back when most of the rooms were still undeclared and were going as standard rentals. The rooms appear as two different types in the non_dvc system too.

Okay - educate me - what is the alternate floor plan????

It’s like a free upgrade to a value 1-bedroom. (How did Disney not monetize that!)

Google “ccv studios alternate floor plan” and click first result.

Hi, I am curious which lone alternate studio with walk-in shower is located or which room number if known? Thank you very much

Curious about this as well. I've always been under the assumption that every alternate has the tub. I thought there was one that wasn't part of a lock-off...but believed all had the tub.

I am not sure there is really any difference in demand. Both have been filling quickly using the 11-month window, and openings you may be seeing thereafter may be due to various issues, e.g., there are 41 shower studios and 37 tub studios, and thus it actually takes more reservations to keep the shower rooms filled than the tub rooms; there may be more covid-related cancellations for shower rooms since more seniors would likely try to reserve those than they would the tub rooms.

I'm not sure walk-in shower rooms are significantly less popular than the tub rooms. It depends on your preferences.

The regular studios (with tub) have the tub (which is good for seniors and young kids) and give you a chance at the alternate stuio layouts (though there's a slim chance of getting them). But most are on the ground floor, so the odds aren't great if you want a balcony. You have a much higher chance of getting a higher floor room with balcony with the walk-in shower rooms.
