CCC or Dolphin?

We need to rent a car for 1 day mid trip to drive to Clearwater. We will be renting on a Wed and only need it that day. We would like to make it to DHS by 8am on Thursday so returning the car Wed night seems like the best option.

I know both locations close early but you can drop your car off late at Dolphin by using the valets right? If we rent from Dolphin how would we get back to AoA from there?

Are we able to drop the car off at CCC after hours? Pretty sure the CCC shuttle isn't running late at night but is there a way to get back to AoA besides a cab?

Yes, you can drop the car, and keys, with valet if the counter is closed. And since it closes so early (4pm!!!), the valet people are used to taking the returns!!
I would just take a cab over to AoA from there. It's an easy drive...about 8 mins, and around $10. Otherwise, you are going to have to go to a park and transfer...takes waaaaaay too long. So, drop everyone off at AoA first, then drive over to the Dolphin, return the car and take a cab back to AoA.

Yes.

If we rent from Dolphin how would we get back to AoA from there?

If DHS is still open, you could take the boat (or walk) there and then grab a bus back to AoA. Otherwise, I'd take a cab due to the length of time it would take to grab a bus to the MK (if it's still open) or Downtown Disney and transfer there. If it's really late, a cab would be your only viable option.

Not AFAIK. And if the CCC is closed, cabs might be tough to get from there as well. I suppose you could call one.

Another alternative (and the one I would choose) is to drop the car off early at the Dolphin on Thursday morning and then go to DHS from there. It's a relatively short walk (15 minutes) or I'd take the boat. The boat goes directly to DHS without stopping from the Swan/Dolphin dock.

You could drop it off at the Dolphin early thurs. morning before heading to DHS.
You would simply leave it with valet and then take the boat or walk to DHS. Rate should be the same as it's still a 1 day rental.
If you decide to return it wed night you would drop it with the valet and then take a taxi to AoA, it's much closer than CCC.
Or if by chance DHS is still open when you return the car, take boat or walk to DHS and take the bus back to AoA.

If the boat isn't running yet, you can walk from the Dolphin to DHS in 15-20 minutes.
