CC reception @ Living Seas

My g/f and I will be having our reception for our commitment ceremony at the Living Seas in September. We're super excited, but I'm getting nervous that the lighting in the Living Seas is really bright...can anyone confirm/deny this? Also, when we went for our planning session, we only did a cake tasting, never a menu one. We chose Ariel's buffet...has anyone used this menu before? I know Disney always has great food, but it made me a little nervous that we didn't even try anything on the menu!

Usually people complain that Living Seas is too dark, so I think you'll be OK. Also, you can ask them to adjust it up or down. I didn't find it extraordinarily bright or dark when I was there, but it was *really* hard to get good photos with my non-professional equipment.

I did not have a food tasting and choose the food using the menus - I can tell you it was very good. I would not worry on that issue.

Images? We are having our reception there and I've only seen a handful of photos and site unseen! Hoping it's as amazing as the photos and comments I've gathered on the boards! Hoping my pics don't have bad flashes from cameras too!

sorry don't mean to hijack this..but are you guys using disney photographers. DF would luv to have our reception there but I was under the impression that no outside photographers could be used.

correct, no "outside" photographers allowed to in-park events (which is a bummer!). We are getting married and having the reception in Living Seas. We have a friend coming to the wedding that is also a photographer as her profession and Disney said since she is a wedding guests I am allowed to have her take photos at the reception. But, I'm pretty sure they make sure that person isn't actually like a local photographer that you are sneaking in as a guest...so, I don't think there is a way around it to sneak an outside photographer in as a "guest"...if I'm making any sense!

So, it all depends on what you feel is appropriate for your day! If you are obsessed with a particular photographer, you can have them do the ceremony and then maybe a Disney photographer for the reception. We are having an outside videographer for our ceremony - but of course they can't come to the reception...But, we at least wanted to have her special talent for part of our day, so we are fitting it in where we can!

My fiance's sister also had Living Seas for her reception about 8 years ago, and now we will have it. I think the lighting can definitely be adjusted. In the video, it looks a little darker, but when they did a venue visit, the room was very bright. It all depends on what you would like! Either way, the room looked gorgeous on her video from 2004 and I can't wait to have our reception there as well!

When my Husband and I got married we had our Reception at the Living Seas and LOVED IT. The lighting wasn't too dark or light and fit the theme perfectly.
