We had a cabana on Castaway Cay last week, and everything was great except of course when it was time to leave. All Aboard was 4:45, but at 3:30, the host came by and said it was time to pack up and head back to the ship. I think 4pm would have been a fair time, but 330 was just too early.

I was wondering what everyone else experienced?
Thanks
George

We left around 2 or 3 so no clue when they started asking people to do last call and pack up.

Did the host say why so early, if the all aboard was 4:45?

I don't think we've ever been in the last group on the island, though.

We had a similar situation. We even docked late and the captain said we were staying on the island a little longer then normal but we were rushed out of the cabana

We have also had them come and offer to drive us back to the ship around 3:30 in the past, we told them no we weren't ready yet. He told us to ring the bell and he would come back for us.
It irked me, we have until 4:45 and I want every minute of it.

It's understandable. The CMs on your cruise are likely responsible for readying the cabanas for the next group of guests, who want to get to their cabanas ASAP when they arrive. It's not something that, given the circumstances, I would be particularly resentful about.

When you rent a cabana, they tell you that you are renting it "All Day". If all aboard is at 4:45 and they need me out of the cabana earlier than that, they should indicate that I am renting the cabana from All Ashore to 3:30 (or whenever) and I'll plan my day accordingly.

Most of the time when we've had a cabana, there wasn't any issue. But last time it was strange, they came around 3:00 to pick up the lunch plates (which I thought was late) and they made a weird comment we didn't understand about being back when they finished with the lunch trays. We didn't stick around much after 3:15 or so anyway so maybe their comment was that they would be coming back around and suggesting we head back to the ship.

They used to have a special character meet and greet in the lounge around 4 pm on Castaway day which would lure away many of the concierge families back to the boat. Then they just have to "run off" the few remaining cabanas.

They do quite a bit of clean up at around that time on the island. They take the wave runners out to the reef and clean up inner tubes and floats that seem to collect there, they fold the umbrellas down, clear up the loungers, pick up trash, and get towels off chairs and into bins for laundry collection. There are a couple of crew boats that left before we departed as well. The last of the excursions are coming back too.

I agree that they SHOULD tell the cabana holder that they will need to clear out by 3:30 PM and not list it as an ALL DAY rental. Since there are not that many and in such high demand they would still be able to get the price they ask for. But just change the wording to indicate the time factor. JMO though. :)

If I was paying the price they ask, then I would stay till I had to be back on the ship. All day means all day. I agree that the wording needs to change.

If they really were being persistent then we would move to the regular chairs. We like to stay till about 4:30-4:45.

i think we left around 3:30-4pm. You cant leave the cabana at 4:45 if you have to be all aboard at the same time! You need to account for the golf cart ride to the tram and the tram back to the boat.

We have a cabana booked for October, and it's good to read this so that I can be prepared as I will then be ready to tell the host that we won't be leaving until 4pm - I definitely don't see the need to leave any earlier than that & I plan to get my monies worth! :thumbsup2

I'm not really sure. They always have to remind us (or offer a ride) a few times at least. Usually by the end of the day I've had enough sun & drinky-drinks I seriously couldn't tell you what time it is. Yes, I've been in the last few off-island at least once. Maybe more. :jester:

Well then they should make the CM's that live on the island clean them up before the next ship arrives. The only items that need to be removed and brought back to the ship would be the towels.
I paid my $600 for an ALL DAY excursion and I am staying ALL DAY.

How many CMs actually live on the island?

yeah, we were run off 'early' as well....
we were at serenity bay, so it takes longer to get back...

the truth is, you're paying for a very few hours in that cabana...
when's all ashore? 9?
and by the time you actually get ashore and get to the cabana?
it's only for a few hours all told..

it was great for my elderly mom and ill sister...
but the times i was there with my family (DH, DD, DS) we had a great time without one and it would have been a waste of money for us, given that we barely sat down for a second, other than to eat....

but again, with my mom and sister, who just relaxed in the cabana all day, it was great...
