Anyone ever tried the bottom fishing excursion? We are not fishermen but enjoy fishing once every couple of year for a couple of hours. Is it worth the $??

My DH has done this, and thoroughly enjoyed himself. It gets asked about every so often on the board, and I've never heard anyone say they didn't have fun.

DH did say that he'd hesitate taking a younger child, because it's a lot of money, and if they aren't really into fishing, they might be bored. DS is a big fishing fan (he's 10 1/2), and he'll probably go next time (if we can talk him out of the club, which he also really likes on the island).

I did bottom fishing on a recent trip to Key West (not a cruise) it was a lot of fun and it only cost $37.50 very inexpensive in comparision to Disney's. I had signed up for the bottom fishing for our upcoming trip, and cancelled after I did the fishing in Key West. We're on the Western and if we want to bottom fish we're going to do in Key West, in fact we're thinking of going deep sea fishing out of Key West, it would cost the same as the bottom fishing at Castaway.

What would you do with the fish? Take it back to your cabin? :teeth:

DD12 and I had a lot of fun!

Best part for her was when she caught a shark!

You don't get to keep the fish but Patrick does keep some for his dinner that night!LOL

I was a little skeptical of at first due to the cost but after going was thoroughly impressed with the whole operation!

Patrick also provides cold drinks! Just remember to go to the bathroom before hand!

Big thumbs up. I'm an avid fisherman and it was worth the price.

At $110 it was a bit more than I usually would pay for a trip, but it was in fact worth every penny.

We caught Grouper, trigger fish, and even had to battle a few sharks!

You get some beautiful views of the ship and have a good time.

No you do not get to keep the fish, except on film.

Bring your camera (Unless you have a picture, it's just a fish story).

DS (10y/o) and DH have done this 2X, and loved it. Just remember to book it at the 60 day mark prior to the cruise. The boat only holds 6 people and it goes out 2 times. So only 12 people get to do this!
It can also be "seasonal". I know it was NOT offered for a period of time last year due to "vendor problems"

Do you have to wait to sign up for the bottom fishing when your documenta come, or can you sign up for Castaway Cay excursions early? I have to get my husband signed up for that or I fear he'll be trolling a line off the back of the ship. He will go into fishing withdrawals!!

Thanks for the link mike2beach! My DS14 just loves to fish.:Pinkbounc
