CBS Apologizes

HMMMM saw the show on a huge screen and didn't see anything! But then again I thought the half time show was terrible and didn't even pay much attention to it!

Right. All women wear pasties just for the heck of it.

It wasn't a pasty, it was an elaborate piercing.

The good I can see out of this is that the protests people are making will make some tv execs think about what is acceptable and what isn't.
The shock on Janet's face may also make her think twice about participating in stunts like that.

Personally, I was more offended by Kid Rock wearing the flag like that.

Our local CBS affiliate replayed the clip about a dozen times during the news. They used it as the teaser/lead-in to the news before the gave the usual disclaimer about "adult content". They did everything (including a couple of slow motion replays) except play the clip backward.

The whole halftime show was horrendous. I'm appalled that Justin and Janet did that. And Kid Rock....that was just wrong.

It was absolutely intentional!!!

We replayed the "incident" about 6 times on our TiVo - he ripped it off, she was wearing a star-shaped pastie!!

You don't get up in the morning and say, "hey, I'll wear the pasties today... you never know if one of them will fall out of my shirt."

Come ON!

If there was not a pasty on her breast, then I could possibly believe that it was just a flook. With the words of the song and the pasty.....c'mon, I was not born yesterday. It was planned and I won't believe otherwise. Totally offensive. We had children in the room watching the show!

It didn't look like a pasty to me, but a metal sunburst shaped piercing. Ouch!

The good I can see out of this is that the protests people are making will make some tv execs think about what is acceptable and what isn't.

ITA.

I wasn't paying much attention since I do not like any rap music or anything that remotely reminds me of rap music and I knew it was coming. Drudge states that this "stunt" was approved at the highest levels of CBS, despite their denials. I think when you ask MTV to produce something, its the issue of "buyer beware". I haven't allowed MTV in my house for 15 years and for good reason.

I wish I could get rid of MTV here. What trash!!!!! Vh1 used to be a nice alternative, now going that same route too.

Dan, 15 years ago I took the cable box back to our cable company and I told them that if they couldn't delete MTV from the box that I would drop my cable. They gave me a parental guidance box and I lock it out. that doesn't mean that my kids, the youngest is 16 by the way, can't see it at their friends houses but at least I can set the standard in our home.

I'd be willing to bet that the apologies we're hearing from CBS, MTV and Justin Timberlake were all written long before the halftime show even aired. They were probably written at the time these guys decided to pull this stunt. They knew it would generate a flood of complaints, but they've taken the "Let's do it anyway and just apologize afterwards" route.

I agree Dan! I'm so lucky my daughter isn't remotely interested in watching those stations.....Yet?

Try VH1 Classic. Unlike MTV or VH1, they actually still play music videos. They have one show called We Are The Eighties that plays all those great old videos from the early days of MTV.

Janet's stunt kind overshadowed Nelly's holding his crotch (he should have gone before he left home) and Kid Rocks wearing the American flag.

Try VH1 Classic! That's what I watch. It's like the old/original MTV from the early 1980's, mostly music and hardly any commercials.

Oops, I see WDW Hound beat me to it! :o

I don't read all the posts before I reply with mine!
