Is there any reason why we should change our minds about staying at POFQ and stay at CBR instead?

I think we're 98% certain that it'll be POFQ, but that other 2% is saying maybe we should consider CBR. We got married in Jamaica, so I think that's why I'm drawn to CBR.

Advice? Suggestions? C'mon...I know you've all got opinions.

It all comes down to the theming. Pick the one you like best. You can't go wrong with either one.

I haven't stayed at CBR, but my uncle did and he said the transportation was awful and he would never stay there again. According to him, it was his worst stay at WDW and they went 4 times last year. POFQ is great. I stayed there last year and loved it.

The only problem with the buses that I've ever experienced at CBR or ASMu is during park closing the buses are always packed, but new ones arrived frequently. Other than that, the bus service has been fine by me.

I've never stayed at POFQ, but we are booking a trip there for next summer. However, we've stayed at CBR 3x and really enjoyed it. I love the theming and the fact that each "island" has it's own private pool. Don't really remember having any bus issues. We will probably stay there again someday and would even go back there next summer, but we taking my 74 year old dad with us and POFQ sounds like it is much smaller and might be easier for him to get around. CBR is a larger, spread out resort, so be prepared to do alot of walking. I enjoy walking and looking at the theming, so it didn't bother me, but everyone is different.

We stayed at POFQ and loved it! I am planning a visit for April and I am going to book POFQ. The size, pool and the bus transportation were very good. We also liked the food court. It's small, but has a good variety. We stayed at the BC last month and the bus situation was not great. Everything else was awesome, but not the buses. :flower:

We stayed at the CBR back in April also. It was a wonderful resort and we loved everything about it. We never had any issues with the buses.
I think you'll have a great time no matter which one you stay at.

I love CBR, stayed there twice and absolutely loved it. With that in mind, CBR is nothing like the Caribbbean! It has a pleasant Caribbean theme, but you will not think you are back in Jamaica if your room is in CBR's Jamaica. Don't give it a second thought. I've been to the Caribbean many more times than I've been to CBR.

Don't get me wrong. I don't think CBR is bad because it's not like being in the Caribbean. I love the theming, but I always realize it's no more than theming, it's not a total experience.

If you compare CBR to actual Caribbean resorts, CBR is lacking. But if you take CBR all on its own, it's a wonderful place that you will enjoy. I've never stayed at POFQ so I can't help you compare the two.

As for the poster who complained about an uncle's bad experiences with the buses, in my total of 16 days at CBR over two different years I NEVER had a significant problem with Disney Transport there. One time in May we had I think a 30 minute wait for an MK bus; it was frustrating but it hardly ruined our day.

Thanks for all the info. I did book POFQ this morning...so barring any unforeseen problems, we'll be heading there in January. Now I want to go home and watch the planning DVD again so I can peruse the resorts section to remind myself of why it was the one that jumped out at us in the first place.

I'm not happy with the way I worded this. I meant CBR is lacking in comparison ONLY in terms of its "Caribbean-ness." It's certainly not lacking in terms of amenities. It's actually probably nicer than most Caribbean resorts in a similar price-class.
