Just got back from a 10 day trip. It was me and my DH in one room and DD, DSIL, and two DGSs in another. We had originally booked POFQ but had to change resorts when FD was announced. We had about 30 seconds to choose between CBR and CS. We chose CBR. Let me start by saying this a nice resort. We didn't pay for the preferred rooms but we requested Aruba 51 with connecting rooms. Our requests were granted. We were in 5161 and 5162. Our rooms were clean and mousekeeping was great all week. No issues there.
We were right near the bridge going over to food court. It was about a 5 minute walk which DD and I didn't mind but both our DHs have mobility issues and complained about the walk. Next time we will either pay for preferred or rent ECVs off site so they could have them all week. Our bus stops were pretty far away. The closest stop was Jamaica. It was a hike through two parking lots. Again not popular with DHs. I guess we were spoiled by our stay at POFQ where everything was pretty close.
The food court was adequate. We had lunch there our first day and none of us had a problem finding something we liked. I had a couple of Bounty Platters and a couple of French Toast Platters for breakfasts but most of the time I had a bagel w/cream cheese from the grab and go market to start my day. The food court was busy most mornings but we never had trouble finding a couple of tables. Just not ususally together. Not a problem.
We used the laundry facilities in Jamaica and they were adequate. The change machine was broken though but we had brought our own quarters from home. We even had enough to sell some to others.
We never got to use the hammocks as it was either raining or we were late getting back from the parks. The GSs loved the main pool. They didn't care if it was raining or not.
All in all this is a nice resort. I love the theming and the landscaping that went with it. It is a very big resort. I'm not sure we would pick this resort again with the DHs mobility issues but we would not be terribly upset if we had to stay there again. We would defintely rent the ECVs for them if we had to. I think in our case it would have been better to pick rooms close to a bus stop rather than the bridge. Just our opinions.
We did have one problem that has nothing to do with the resort itself. My youngest DGS lost his special pillow he's had since he was a toddler. We think he left it on the luggage assistance van or at the customs house. We have a claim in with lost and found but haven't heard anything. I guess its gone forever. He cried the whole way home and says he can't sleep at night without it. If anyone finds a smelly old tattered pillow with a black pillow case, please turn it in.
