We have one person in our group of 4 who REALLY likes to be able to look out onto the water (be it a lake or ocean - whatever) so we booked a "water view" room at CBR. YAY. (First time out of 45+ trips to WDW that I'll be staying on site!!!)

Anyway, since it's during the first week of April and it's Spring Break time, and its Flower and Garden time, etc., CBR is pretty full. They put us in the ONLY available room which is a pirate room. Really far from the pool and food. ugh The pirate room itself isn't really a problem - it just adds a little more magic I guess. However, since the pirate rooms are so very far away from everything, I thought I would try to keep calling to see if anyone cancels so we can move to a different water view room - a little closer to the pool.

Well, while talking with reservations this evening, I was told that water view meant just that, a view of some water ... which COULD be a pool. What??? The pools that are located at the different areas of CBR are cute little "square" pools. This is NOT what the person in my party wants to look out at - nonetheless PAY water view prices for ...

Has anyone ever stayed in a "water view" room and had simply a view of the square pool as their "water"??? I'm seriously considering moving to CSR except that I could have exactly the same problem there ... water view could potentially view a simple pool. Not sure what to do.

HELP. THANKS everyone!!

It isn't just CBR that is like that. You could move to CSR with a water view room and still only be looking at a pool. You have to look at the description of a water view on Disney's website under the Rates and Room Types section for each resort. For example, CSR, POR, POFQ and CBR have pool or lake view as the description of the water view category. Some resorts have another category of lagoon view or river view that mean just that. It's just the way it is.

Will you really be in your room that much to take advantage of a "water view?" We booked CBR for last summer & at the time of booking were told only pirate rooms available (at a premium rate, of course!) Since we are a family with two young kids this sounded pretty cool...until I looked at a map & read reviews of the rooms/beds. :sad2: Called back & was able to switch to, what they said was a water view :thumbsup2 Well...if we stepped out of our room and turned our heads we could see the lake in the middle of CBR. BUT! We didn't care, we're not there for the view from our room. We were in Martinique. Not a preferred bldg but one over. It was a 7 min walk to OPR & the main pool & 2 min to the quiet pool. We LOVED CBR!!! If the view is that important you can pay the premium and take your chances. Otherwise, I would "settle" for a standard room at CBR anytime!

That's why I'm starting to think I should go talk to the person who likes the water view -- and present this issue to her. She may just change her mind and go a little cheaper with a "regular" room. I still think CBR is pretty full and now nothing else may be available, but we could change to CSR - they have plenty of options there.

I had a water view facing the Barbados pool. We could see the lake in the distance. It was more convenient to the pathway around the lake rather than being close to the parking lot. Worth the extra? Probably not.

Paying for a water view at any moderate is a waste of money, imo. The windows look right out to the walkways, so people walking by just look right in to your room.

I found pictures of our "water view" room view in Barbados.

IMO a water view room is not worth the extra price. My DH and I stayed at CBR without any preference of king sized/water view/buildings and were in Martinique. (I forget what building, sorry.) We were in a room facing the "inside" of the resort (toward the lake). We never had the window shades open when we were "home" because it is an outer walkway hotel, and I didn't love the idea of people looking in while we were hanging out/napping/getting ready.

Also, any time we walked anywhere - the pool, the food court, for a leisurely walk, we walked along the lake. We saw a lot of the water without actually being on the lake. The only time we didn't see the lake was when we were going to the bus.

Good luck! I'd try to save a bit on the hotel and use it toward something else at WDW!
