CBR w/o a rental car?

Hi everyone,

My trip planning saga continues. DH and I decided to stay at CBR instead of AKL for several reasons, primarily because we figured we could use the extra money on the trip rather than the hotel. So now I'm in need of some advice. What would be the best building that is quiet but not too far from the bus stop? We have dd (age 2) who will probably be running/walking/in a stroller with us. Also we have decided not to rent a car this trip and I'm wondering if we will be incredibly inconveinced without it? This will be our first trip to WDW w/o a rental car.

I don't think you'll be inconvenienced as long as you leave the resort way ahead of schedule. We were there in October and I think it took 40 minutes to get to Mk and about 30 minutes to get anywhere else, even Epcot! Everyday when we left our room I'd say we should've left a half hour ago and I wish we had. But it was nice to not worry about parking and manuevering through some pretty heavy traffic! Have a great trip!

We did CBR in May without a car and were fine. Just keep in mind that travel time (travel time on bus, traffic etc.) ... we allowed ourselves an hour in some cases especially when we were going to a resort for a meal. I thought bus service was great --- never waited more than 15 to 20 minutes for a bus at the resort or the parks but I know that other people have had different experiences.

we were here in october. had a car but didn't use it to go anywhere within WDW. Didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus. MGM and Epcot are very close.

If your budget allows, do yourself a favor and take cabs to any resort dinners. The bus routes will take FOREVER, and a cab to anywhere on property, with tip, shouldn't be more than $12-$15.

Other than resort dinners, IMO Disney transportation is more than adequate. I don't know about anyone else, but for me, not having to drive myself anywhere is one of the good things about being on vacation.

We've stayed there three times and have never had a car. The buses are very convenient and there are several stops--one for each of the villages--so everywhere is pretty close to one stop or another. If convenient access to Old Port Royale (food court, restaurant, shop, etc.) is important, Trinidad North and Martinique are on either side.

We stayed in Martinique Building 23 (room 2335) which was a 2 minute walk to Old Port Royale and looked out at the bus stop. All we did was walk out our door, down the stairs and the parking lot was right there, along with the bus stop. We went in early December this year and it was so quiet. Not sure if that was just b/c of the time of year. I highly recommend the location...being by the bus stop was a great extra that we never even thought about asking for.

Thanks so much-- I really appreciate people on the board taking time out to answer questions. We're planning to have dinner at O'hana (a family favorite) and Boma and a character breakfast so the advice about time is really helpful.

Jamaica is a nice section to stay in. It is just a short walk over Parrot Cay to Old Port Royale. Plus, your daughter may like the island. It has a playground on it and some caged birds, along with piped in caribbean music - at least it did back in 1996. We were there on our honeymoon and did not have a car. We had absolutely no problems with the busses.
