If you can get the Dolphin for around the same rate, I say go for it!
Not only is the Dolphin a deluxe resort, the location is spectacular! You'll be close enough that you can walk to either Epcot or MGM if you wish, or you can take the water taxi, called the Friendship Boats.
You'll share the same fine WDW bus transportation to AK, MK and the water parks.
The Dolphin has everything you could ask for in a resort, and more. The only thing you MIGHT miss out on is a food court. The Dolphin's version of a food court is called Tubbi's and is actually a step up from food court. It's not as busy and has some nice hot selections, as well as an attached little convenience type store for snacks, chips and the like. There is also the Dolphin Fountain, a cute little ice cream shop also serving grilled cheese, hamburgers, etc. There's also an arcade, hair salon and laundry room.
You said you are looking for something new, and I can't think of a better place to try something new than at the Dolphin!
