Last year was our first trip to Disney and we stayed at the Poly, which we loved. I am trying to convince DH to take our girls there for a surprise Xmas trip so have to look at a moderate this time to save some Monet. Originally, I was leaning toward CBR but after reading some reviews, I think Coronado springs might be better. My kids are now 7 and 4 so I'm not as concerned about relying on the buses (vs the monorail) but I don't want to waste a lot of time walking to his stops and standing around waiting. And, we will probably spend more time in MK but plan on going to all four parks. Any advice, tips, suggestions would be appreciated!

I prefer CSR for the bigger beds, the great pool slide, and we've had the best bus service there.

I know you didn't list WL as a choice, but have you considered it??? You could get a standard or woods view room for much cheaper than the Poly and the WL is AMAZING, with great access to MK!!! :goodvibes

We haven't stayed at CSR (no interest) but we have stayed at CBR and just really didn't care for it at all.

We've never stayed at CSR and it's been awhile since our CBR stay (2002), but we loved CBR :goodvibes. The resort is large and has 4 or 5 internal bus stops, but we found the buses to be very efficient with no sharing with any other resort. CBR is centrally located so it didn't take more than about 10 minutes to get to any theme park, water park, or DTD :thumbsup2. Also, the pool was great during our stay, but has been redone since then and from pics I've seen, it looks great and I'm sure your kids would love it ;). With all of that said, we had such a great stay that we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Good luck.

We have never stayed at CBR but my family has told me it is a little dated. CSR is very nice but huge. If you stay there, you might want to pay extra for a closer room to the front. The food court has a huge variety of food.

I have stayed at both and love both! Our last trip was in late March into early April, we did 11 nights at CBR. It was a PERFECT stay. We hadn't stayed there since 2006 and it was so nice to be back. Our room was spotless and we didn't find it to be dated (it does only have the double beds however) at all. It had been updated since our stay in December of 2006 and while I "hear" its next on the refurb list, to us the room was in great shape and very clean. The grounds at CBR are gorgeous, we loved all the beaches with the lounge chairs and hammocks (each village has its own beach) and dh and I really enjoyed having a cocktail on the beach and watching the high fireworks of Illuminations a couple of times. I think the pool would be ideal for your kids. It has zero entry, a few slides and a gated off height restricted (I think both of your kids would be fine on that unless the 7 year old is very tall) pirate splash area. We had fine bussing, it is large and unlike the Poly you have multiple stops. However you do not share with any other resorts. DHS and Epcot are extremely close and given its central location, MK, AK, DTD and the waterparks are not far either. We really enjoy having multiple quiet pools, we went during spring break and on more than one occasion we had the quiet pool in Jamaica to ourselves. I like the way each village has a bus stop, quiet pool and laundry right there. Again, its spread out but you have amenities nearby regardless of section (this goes for CSR too) and while its large, we find the resort very easy to get around and don't mind a bit of walking. You can always pay for preferred which puts your right at the main area.

Now all that said, we are trying CSR next trip. We haven't stayed there since 2006 either and we can't wait. Dh, dd and I went over there last trip and were impressed with Pepper Market and had forgotten how lovely the grounds are. I like the three distinct themes CSR buildings have and the fact it has queen beds. It has the most dining options of any moderate (including room service) as well as an athletic club, spa and salon. The main pool is very large and it has a very long slide which is great for my teenagers (they were 9 and 11 last trip and still remember that slide). We also loved the quiet pools there last stay and I know we'll enjoy them again in October.

I don't think you can make a bad choice. They both have a beach/tropical type feel. I think you'll really enjoy having a food court (really miss that when we stay deluxe or DVC) and the pool areas at both are in my opinion superior to the Poly's (but no stellar view of the castle;)). They also both have nice pool bars and CSR actually has a pool bar, the Laguna Bar which is near the food court as well as a nightclub/bar.

We have had great bussing at both (and at POR and POFQ for that matter) and while you can't walk to a resort, and its not on the monorail, we find that bussing works fine. In fact I prefer the transportation at the mods, because I cannot stand the shared bus routs of the monorail and Epcot resorts.

Good luck with your decision!

I've stayed at both, including a Christmas visit to CBR, and I prefer CSR. The problems I had at CBR were that our building in Aruba was too close to a main road and didn't feel isolated and also it was cold that week. It just didn't feel like a tropical setting when it freezing out and we only used the pool for 20 min. due to temps. That was really disappointing. Maybe I would like it more in the warmer months.

I find CBR more updated and deluxe than CSR. It is supposed to have better bus service. I like the theming more and the lunch buffet is such a good deal with dining credits.

Thanks for all the input. I have to decide quickly because DH gave the greenlight to book the trip! :thumbsup2

Quick question for A Disney Queen - you mentioned liking CSR better but at the end you said CBR has a more deluxe feel. Did you mean CSR?

I have read on here many times that CSR is the one moderate that is higher-end - more like a deluxe.
We loved CSR and it is gorgeous!! The kids would love the slide and pool, and the beds are way awesome. Just ask for a room near a bus stop. It's wonderful there!! Good luck wherever you go!

Never been to CB but have been to CS and loved it. Hubby loved that it had a fitness center and we both liked that it has queen beds. It is a large resort but it is a beautiful walk around the lake in the evenings and my kids loved the pool. Pepper Market was great too!
