Hi! We will be arriving in a few days and it's time to make final check-in requests. I know there's construction there, so trying to request with that in mind. On the drop down menu is gives options for Martinique village, corner room, ground floor, grandstand section, near transportation, near paddock.

What's the grandstand section and paddock?

I have not seen any of the construction, so I'm not sure what is going on exactly. We reserved preferred rooms, will frequent the pool, won't eat in the food court much and have our own vehicle. Advise? Anything else worth calling to request?

Thanks!!

I can't help you with the construction at CBR, but Grandstand and Paddock are at SSR. It wouldn't do you any good to request either when you're booked at CBR. I'm not sure why it's even an option for you.

@tndisney5 and @SimonSez - I have read through reviews of your recent stays at CBR. I would appreciate any advice from you on where to request? We reserved preferred rooms, will frequent the pool, won't eat resort food much at all and have our own vehicle (but will take the bus to a 8:30 am bippity boppity castle appointment one morning). Thank you!!

We stayed in a pirate room at Trinidad South, but I'm always hearing Jamaica is a good choice. Not sure which Jamaica buildings are the best, someone else can chime in on that. Lol, our biggest issue with our building, which was TS 35, was it didn't have a freestyle machine, and we had to hike to get to one. Okay, that's an exaggeration, we just went one building over :rolleyes1 but we were talking if we could do it again we'd request a building with a freestyle machine. That may not be that important to you, just putting it out there. We had a water view which was nice, but to be honest, we didn't spend a lot of time enjoying it. I said I wouldn't mind the parking lot view just because it was so close to where the car was. I actually liked the Martinique location due to proximity of Centertown and an early bus stop, but I don't believe they have preferred rooms at the moment. Also, you mentioned not eating at the resort too much so that proximity may not matter. We ate twice ate the buffet, both times it was breakfast. Every other morning we ordered from the food truck. Every island has their own quiet pool, we only used the TS one and it was very nice. EALOVE, hope this helps some, and hope you have a great trip--Good luck :flower1:

Seeing as how you booked preferred, you will already be in a building for preferred. Not sure if that applies with construction n, but generally Jamaica was not one of the preferred. I believe Martinique was one that had preferred, and also Trinidad North, so since you booked it, no need of that. Close to transportation would be just that, which would most likely place you more on the backside of the resort toward the parking lot, versus water type view. Id go with corner or ground floor depending if you have any needs for that, or the transportation if there are any walking issues and you care more about that, although, I don't think that would save you much. If I remember correctly there are only 2 floors.
However, not sure where they set the food tre ucks up, so don't know if they changed where preferred is, or if food trucks are in the same area as the OPR was.

(Sorry, I think I dated myself as we still call it the Old Port Royale, and I just noticed the above poster called it Centertown!)

So my DBF had to pay off the remaining balance, for his Contemporary Resort stay for next month. Let me tell you it was not pretty, I think he wishes he had gone moderate lol. I told him I thought there was a pirate room available and he stuck with the CR. Now he says he's ready to stand on the corner with a cup and sign. I like the CR and would like to stay there one day, but you know...money and all :rolleyes1 I keep getting texts about the amount he had to pay. I should be more sympathetic, but I'm not :stir: Problem was, he was waiting for that elusive fall discount. There is a 15-20% one but it doesn't apply to the CR. It did apply to the CBR however. I'm sure he and his mom will have fun, he's just worried the experience won't be worth the investment. I said I find it usually is at Disney :flower:He hasn't been to WDW since before Epcot was born, so it's almost like a first trip for him

I stayed at CBR for the first time a few weeks ago. I was in Trinidad North and I highly recommend it. Easy walk to pool/bar/food. Bus stop is usually the third stop both coming and going.
