I am planning our first trip to Disneyworld. I had reserved POFQ, but switched to CBR this morning. Saved over $600.00 with the code!!
They only had standard rooms available and I'm worried about this. The reason I chose POFQ was for the small size. I know the CBR is huge and I'm
concerned about the standard room.

Anyone who has stayed in a standard room at CBR, can you tell me your experience? I hope I didn't make a mistake by changing resorts!

By the way, it will be me, DH, DD12, DS13. We will be there from Nov.29 to Dec.8.

Thanks for your help! :goodvibes

You might want to check out the CBR FAQ thread listed below. CBR is a great resort. You will love it.

Stayed there and loved it .... I was there with friends who were at the Wilderness Lodge and I have to say I did not feel like I was getting the short end of the stick, it is a great place, very pretty and the pool area is really fun

Stop stressing! You're gonna love the CBR!

As far as the standard rooms go, you'll be okay. The walk around the ENTIRE promenade is just 1.4 miles. Old Port Royale (the main pool, food court, marina) is smack in the middle so even if you are at the furthest point away from OPR, the walk still isn't bad.

I would suggest you put in a request for a room in either Jamaica, Aruba or the non-preferred rooms in Martinique. All are just a short walk to OPR, bus stops and quiet pools.

Scroll down a bit in the resort posts and you'll find several post on the CBR, one of which has my VERY detailed post of the CBR. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll post it in this thread too.

Thanks to all of you for your help!
I've been planning this trip for a year and have done lots of research about POFQ so I think I'm just worried about the change because I don't know much about CBR. I'm sure we'll have a great time!

We were in a standard room at CBR...Barbados section. The room and grounds were awesome. The quiet pool was great. The boys loved the main pool. We all love the food court.
As far as walking goes, we found if we got off at Martinique, we could get to our room faster. The walking was really never a big issue for us. Even with me who is not in the best shape. We're at Disney!
We loved the resort.
Have a GREAT TIME!

too cool, switched from por for the same reason; i did the math and that just about pays for dining plan, we're there 12/1-12/10, got a standard room, have heard great things and now i hear por and pofq get the overspill from pop warner so am very psyched!..see you in disney!

When you arrive!... Congrats!

Whoo hoo - time to change your siggie! :)

Glad you got a great deal, too! We are going to MVMCP on Dec. 4 as well.
See you there!

I have stayed in both standard and preferred rooms at the CBR - in fact it is my favorite resort in WDW. All of the rooms are beautiful!! However I don't care for Trinidad South - the walk to the food court is way too far - but they do have in internal resort bus so there is always the option to ride on a bus. We prefer to stay in Martinique or Trinidad North just because of the close proximity to the food court area. Have a great trip.

Don't worry! You're going at a great time of year, not much in the way of crowds. I guarantee you will all have a great time. Besides, if you are anything like we were on our first trip to the world (and probably the next 3 after that), we didn't spend much time at the resort anyway.

Thanks for the heads up, I changed the siggie...lol! Counting down, we arrive on Dec 1, go to MVMCP on Dec 4, we're going to the candlelight processional on the friday Dec 7 it Phylicia Rashad, never been in December always in late September or October...we are psyched!

I LOVE CBR! The walk is not too bad, as long as you are not in Trinidad South, IMO. Some people like it because it is more secluded and quiet, but for me, it's just too far from everything. It just seems separated from the rest of the resort to me.

The standard room is no different than the preferred room other than location. The preferred are nearer the food court. You still can request a room as close as possible to the food court (aka Old Port Royale Centertown). The only real "far out" area is Trinidad South. Otherwise the walk around the lake is very nice especially at night. I also like CBR but then again I like all the Disney resorts. We don't stick to one, we rotate them to keep the trips interesting. So I guess my favorite resort is the one I have been away from the longest.

We love, love, love CBR!!! You will not be disappointed! We've stayed in both standard and preferred and really there wasn't any difference - just a little closer to the food court. Are you renting a car? If so, the size of the resort won't even matter because you can drive to the food court. One year we were a little bit of a walk across a parking lot to the bus stop so we'd drive the car over in the morning just so we wouldn't have so far to walk at the end of the day!:rotfl: If you don't have a car you can certainly ride the bus or just enjoy the beautiful walk around the resort grounds. To me CBR makes me feel like I'm in Florida. We took a trip this past summer and needed two rooms so to save some money we stayed at Pop Century. It was nice but we had to make a special trip to CBR for an afternoon and go to the gift shop and stroll around the main pool area overlooking the beautiful lake. Oh, it made me really wish we were staying there again! You will have a great time there!

Thanks everyone! You have all made me feel better about the resort. We are not renting a car so we'll be walking. The person I talked to at CRO recommended Jamaica or Aruba and she put that request on our ressies. I'm sure we'll be happy with what ever building we are in. We will be coming from Colorado in December, so the tropical resort will be great!
