Hi guys

We are off to CBR in 6 weeks (aaaaagh!!!!  )
and have paid for a water view room (also classes as a preferred location from what I can gather in our UK brochure).

Does anyone have any advice on which rooms give the best water/preferred views - we have stayed in Jamaica before but did not have a pref view. We were thinking either Jamaica again, Aruba or Martinique this time.

Can anyone help please?

Water view is not the same as a preferred location. You have a standard, water view, king, or preferred room. A water view room may be in a preferred building but you just got lucky.

A water view may be a view of the lake, or it may be a view of the village's quiet pool. Honestly, I don't think they're worth it. A few years ago, we stayed in Martinique 2549 which had a great view of the lake, but we really didn't spend much time looking out of the room at the lake -- we spent more time down on the beach in a hammock by the lake!

On the other hand, both times we've been to CBR we have paid for a preferred location -- Martinique 24, 25, 26, and Trinidad North 31, 32, 33. Those are the buildings closest to Old Port Royale where the main pool, food court, marina, and gift shops are located. We had, as I said, a view of the lake when we were in Martinique 25, but this year we were in Trinidad North 31 and our first floor room opened into a courtyard -- that was great! It was like having our own private patio with tables, and we loved it.

As you know, CBR is just a great resort, but just be prepared that your water view might be a quiet pool instead of the lake. Have fun!

While I think the CBR is a great resort and we have always had a wonderful time there, I don't think the water view is worth the extra $$. We have always stayed in Trinidad North and the last time was a water view and it was not that big of a deal. First of all, while the lake is not a mud pit, it is no Seven Seas Lagoon. Also, there is a walkway right outside your window - while your looking out, other vacationers are looking in. The garden view is very beautiful and the trips to OPR is very relaxing. Save your $$ on a regular room and go eat someplace special - like O'hana or Kona! This is just an opinion, not a fact! Have a great time - Marty

I agree with the previous comments, water view is not worth it. Preferred location definitely is! CBR is a large resort, and if you plan to go to Old Port Royale often, you may want to have a preferred location.

I think that since CBR does not have individual balconies, people just don't spend time looking out over the water even if they do have a water view. As mentioned before, people are walking by on the walkways outside the rooms, so we tend to keep the blinds closed or partially closed all the time anyway.

On my first trip to CBR I paid for preferred and got Martinique Bldg 25. We loved that location, so on my second trip, I paid for preferred and my only request was Bldg 25 - we got it, and were very, very pleased!

While the first water view room we were given was a huge dissapointment (partially obstructed view of the quiet ppol), we called and they quickly moved us. I believe it was Martinique, we had a corner room on the first floor and views of the lake from both windows!!! It was absolutely lovely and definitely worth the upgrade.=)
