We are staying at CBR in 6 weeks. I love CBR. We always ask for Jamaica or Aruba. One time we were upgraded to pirate room. NOT an upgrade to me, but the grandsons liked it, so all was well. I am thinking of going with a preferred room in Martinique. if it is available when we arrive. We have 2 rooms and would like to be next to each other. I know, no guarantees. Can you do this when you arrive and find out we do not like our room location. I know it will depend on availability, but I don't want to do it if I don't have to. Is it worth it to be preferred?

at CBR would say it is worth it for preferred because the long walk to the food court from other places.

of course it is up to you - just make sure you are not in the Trindad south again (pirates) because that is also preferred - think it is more expensive???

if they say you will get a preferred room then they have to give it to you - or give you back the extra money you paid.

would ask for connecting rooms if you plan on putting the kids in one room and you and your DS in the other one.

Only stay preferred at CBR. It really is not that much more for convenience. Go for it . Make the call and change now.

Just to clarify, the Pirate rooms, which is all the rooms in Trinidad South, are NOT preferred rooms. They are more expensive than standard, but that does not make them "preferred." At CBR, "preferred" has a very specific definition ... it means a room in one of the six guest buildings closest to Old Port Royale.

If you strongly want preferred, then it would be best to book and pay for it, so you can guarantee it.

I love CBR, I've stayed there twice. After getting a room in Aruba 56, I decided preferred location was important to me. When we returned, we booked a preferred room and were very happy we spent the extra money, due to the decreased walking within the resort.

Trinidad South is not considered a preferred location. The Pirate themed rooms are there, but that's a different category. If you booked preferred you definitely will not be in Trinidad South. I think preferred is Martinique, but I'm not positive. If you want a preferred room you can book it that way and will definitely get a preferred room, which means closer to the main pool and food court. If you want connecting rooms you need to make that request (I'd call or fax it in) and make sure they are aware that the second room is for children with no adults. They will likely try harder to make it happen that way.

Is it noisier in the preferred rooms? We booked CBR over a value becuase we were told, it was a bit more quiet, as our son still takes an afternoon nap... but I was thinking of upgrading to a preferred room. I'd like to be near the food and pool but, will this put us in the middle of all of the hustle and bustle and make it loud and hard for him to nap?

We'll be going in September.

Preferred is $15 extra per night.
Preferred Are:
Martinique 24,25,26
Trinidad North 31,32,33-

What noise? These go fast so get your ressie now.

I agree! I would not wait until you got there to ask about getting connecting rooms in a preferred location. You probably are not going to get them. The first time I stayed at CBR I wanted a preferred room and couldn't even book one when I called several months out. The CM said those preferred rooms go quick. I kept checking online until one popped up about 45 days out, then called and switched. I told that CM I had been waiting, trying to book a preferred room and she said I was lucky that someone had apparently canceled at the 45 day mark when pkgs came due. She said that as soon as she reserved it for me, there were no more preferred room showing up in the system. The second time we stayed there, I had booked a standard room and requested the closest buildings to the bridge in Jamaica or Aruba. We got a room in Aruba, but at check in I decided to ask how much a preferred room would be. The CM laughed and said those preferred rooms were long gone and there were absolutely none available. These trips were in early Dec and mid Oct, so not really busy times of the year and I just wanted a single room, not two connecting rooms.

Huh, I just booked our preferred rooms (2) last week for our trip in 2 weeks, so they must not always sell out far in advance.

I'm confused. :confused3

This thread is about Caribbean Beach Resort, not Pop Century.

Water view, which can be a view of a pool or the lake, is a separate booking category, it is not the same as a preferred room.

There's absolutely no hustle and bustle.

Even the guest building closest to the Old Port Royale building, Martinique 26, and the guest building closest to the main pool, Trinidad North 31, aren't right on top of the building or the pool. So it's not like any noise from thoser places is heard at the guest buildings.

In addition, the main path that people walk on, the Promenade, is a ring around the lake. The guest room buildings aren't directly on the path, they are set back pretty far from the Promenade, so it's not like a preferred location room would be noisier due to people walking by. Therefore, being nearer to Old Port Royale is no noisier than anywhere else.

Theoretically, any second floor room has the potential to be quieter than any first floor room. A first floor room has the potential of getting noise from heavy-footed guests in the room directly above. In addition, more people walk along the exterior corridors of the first floor rooms than the second floor rooms ... think about it, everyone needs to walk along the ground floor corridors at some point, but only 50% of the guests ever need to walk along the second floor corridors. I don't think it's such a big difference, but if you really want to play the percentages, a second floor room has a better chance of being quieter than a first floor room does.
