Hi there All,

My DH and I are at an impass as to which mod to stay at...POFQ (been here w/ in-laws on a prior trip), CSR (stayed here in 2005) or CBR (never been here).

We are going for 10 days in January 2009. We have 2 DDs (9 and 11 y/o during trip) and are also going with my in-laws (will try and get connecting rooms or at least rooms within walking distance of each other).

Would you stay at a resort that you have never stayed at before or go with what you know? We have stayed at POFQ & CSR and loved both resorts. We have had no complaints at all. Haven't been to CBR and would like to try it, but we want to know your opinions on the hotel. :)

Thanks so much in advance!! :goodvibes

Of the moderates we have also been to POFQ and CSR and loved them both. This past trip we thought about going to CBR and while it has its fans there do seem to be more negative reviews and I just can't really get myself too excited about it. In the end we decided to go with the familiar and went back to POFQ and had a great time.

We will probably do a moderate on our next trip again and we will have the same choice to make. DH and I were joking that we would go to CSR and from them on just go back and forth since we have loved them both and can't seem to make up our mind.

By January 2009 you could be swimming in the newest pool on WDW property. :) The pool at CBR will be closed for most of 2008 but it will be open when you are planning to go.

The great thing about WDW is there is a resort for all sorts of tastes. CBR is a beautiful resort and there are many fans of it just like the other resorts.

Has there been any sketches/renderings of what it will become?

We have stayed at all of the mods except CSR. POFQ is our favorite! We loved it there and would not hesitate to stay there again. CBR was just ok to us and POR was nice, but we had lousy bus service. At least at FQ the bus picked up and dropped off there first, which really made a difference!

DH & I have also heard that CSR is going into room rufurbs (we may have seen that here on the DIS, but we aren't sure).

Is this just a rumor or will it really happen?

If you don't need to swim and don't mind walking...CBR...it is fun throwing ding dings to the gulls.
Choose Martinque.

Buzz2001 & Safetymom,

DH & I have also heard that CSR is going into room rufurbs (we may have seen that here on the DIS, but we aren't sure).

Is this just a rumor or will it really happen?

Also, are the rooms at CBR being refurb'ed or just the pool?

This was info I heard from another DIS'er who has a manager for a friend. I guess until it's officially announced, it's a rumor. Hoping to find out more on my Feb trip.

At this time all I am aware of at CBR is the pool. Most resorts do ongoing refurbs as needed.

My husband and I loooveed CBR! The laid back, tropical feel is just our style. I have heard alot of complaints about the trasnporation, but I cant comment on that, as we drove. Whatever you decide, Im sure yall will have a great trip!!

We have stayed at both POR and CBR. Both were nice, but preferred CBR. The theming is really great with all the tropical colors & lush landscaping. Lots of choices at the food court, and lots of pirate themed merchandise (important since my 4 y.o ds is a pirate).

For a trip next April, I initially wanted to stay at CSR, but could not find the lowest price rooms. I booked POFQ(we have stayed there before) with the thought of trying once a week or so to get into CSR. After a couple of weeks, I gave up knowing how much we liked POFQ during our previous stay.

PS The boat to DtD is GREAT!!!!

My mom & I are trying out POFQ in May. I think your kids would love the pool!

Personally my favorite is POR. Are you not considering that hotel?

klwdisney,

POR was a consideration, but since we stayed at POFQ on our last trip, we wanted to go a bit more tropical in the themeing. POR is still being considered, but more like a last choice. At this point, DH is ready to put the resort names in a hat and pick one because he's tired of my in-laws and I hemming and hawing over it ;) But he also knows that this is the funnest part of planning the trip...next to all the restaurant choices and ADR planning, which I have already started a spreadsheet on :rotfl: .

Anyway, DH and I are leaning towards CBR now, my in-laws are leaning towards CSR and the girls are leaning towards POFQ :lmao: Basically, we're still in the same boat as yesterday when I posted on the forum.

Thanks for all the responses. We love hearing from all the DISers, keep your experiences comin', Dh and I love reading them popcorn:: and maybe I can sway in-laws one way or another ;)

We've stayed at both CSR & CBR (not POFQ) and although we LOVED both... CSR gets the nod:thumbsup2

CBR is a beautiful resort, lush and tropical and the themeing (sp.) is wonderful, but... boy is it spread out! The pool is ok (slide is average) and we found the food to be sub-par:confused:

CSR is also a beautiful resort, great pool area (awesome slide and cabana bar), georgeous grounds (perfect for evening walks) and the best food we've encountered at the resorts (prime rib at the Pepper Market:banana: ). Also given it's central location, we found the bus rides to be much quicker.

Enjoy the decision!!!
