My family of 5 is planning a trip for Jan 29-Feb 5. We're looking to book connecting rooms in a moderate. I think I would prefer PO, but DD (13 yo) thinks that CBR looks much cooler.

We've stayed in Values and in Deluxes, but never moderates.

Any advice? Input? Warnings?

Thanks in advance!::yes::

Well between the two, POFQ is a lot smaller, so less walking to get to your room.....everything is pretty convenient no matter where you are at POFQ. There can be a bit of a walk at CBR, nothing crazy, but it may be something to consider for you. As far as theming, they are both great. Rooms at both are nice, POFQ recently had a renovation, so the rooms will feel "newer", and you also get the boatride to DTD from POFQ. Not too drastic of a difference between the two, so it probably just comes down to what theme you like the best.

DH and I love CBR and if it were up to him we would be staying at CBR for our entire January trip. I finally decided that we have to check out the other moderates and was hoping for a room at CSR but nothing available for our date except for suites. Right now, we have 5 nights at CBR and 5 nights at POR (switched from POFQ).
I feel bad when people say that there is a lot of walking at CBR or that it is a huge resort. We absolutely love it - the theming is so gorgeous and the atmosphere makes you feel as if you are on a tropical island. In 2000 or 2001, the rooms at CBR were renovated and are actually the largest of all the moderates - we thought the rooms at our last trip in May of 2003 were perfect. We happened to luck out and got a free upgrade to a corner room with a beatiful water view in Jamaica. It was a 2 minute walk to the pool and the busstop (which luckily was almost always the first stop for p/u and d/o) and a 5 minute walk to the main pool and food court which we loved - there is bar (believe it's called Banana Cabana) that serves tropical mixed drinks outside the food court and very, very close to the main pool and plays a lot of relaxing reggae music.
We are going to try out POR but not too certain that we will like it as much as CBR, mostly due to theming. I will tell you that you will not be disappointed if you chose CBR; since you are going for 7 nights, why don't you just split your stay - let us know how you make out.

I stayed at CBR several years ago and thought it was kind of cool, but not great. Then again, it was before it was renovated, so I'm sure the rooms are much better now.

We stayed at POFQ this Sept and absolutely loved it. It's my favorite mod right now.

BUT, it all comes down to taste. Go with whatever theme appeals to you the most. Frankly, I always have a good time, regardless of the resort we choose because we go with the attitude that being in WDW is wonderful, not matter where we stay. I've stayed in values, moderates, deluxe and concierge and have always had great experiences.

I think all the moderates are great.

Since you have stayed in deluxes in the past, I think you will like POFQ the best of all the moderates. Maybe your daughter can pick out some other special things to do during your trip.
