Im sooooooo excited, were off to WDW soon & i can't stay off of this site! I have a question, in recent photo's i noticed the main pool at CBR looked a little worse for wear, is this the case or is it supposed to look run down? Also, is a corner room nicer? Should i bother requesting one. Any details regarding this resort would be great. Thanx:smooth:  :smooth:

The 'theme' of CBR's pool is a pirate fight, complete with canons. It's really cool! I'm sure it looks "battled" intentionally.

This resort is wonderful and very well maintained.

As far as rooms go, I believe the corner rooms are mostly king-bed rooms.

The CBR has just undergone an extensive rehab, and everything is perfect! The pool is supposed to look like an old Spanish fort (kind of a Pirates of the CBR!), so the "run down" look is intentional. I'm not sure about the corner rooms, but I think you get an extra window if you get one, if that matters to you.

You should be aware that this resort is HUGE. Your room location is very important. I have stayed in the Martinique area, which is very convenient to Old Port Royale, where the pool and food court are located. Trinidad North is on the other side. Jamaica and Aruba are across the lake, via a bridge, however those locations are only good if you get in buildings right near the bridge entrance.

IMHO, the best thing about CBR is the rooms. They are the largest of the moderates, and they are all brand new.:D

I have requested Martinique through guest services, & at the hotel, who said call 5 days before we leave. Is it likely that we will get that location?

We just returned from our stay at CBR Sunday. We stayed in room 4521 (Jamaica) on the first floor facing the water. It was convenient to the "quiet" pool, beach and playground. This is a corner room and one of the closest rooms to the bridge to Port Royale. Other than having better access to the parking lot, I don't know of any other benefits to a corner room. I would recommend staying in building #25 if proximity to the food court is important. Martinique is one of the closest to Port Royal.

Remember to pack your hairdryer! They are available, but you have to request one from house keeping.

Thanks for responding, i hope you had a wonderful time! Did you finf the room comfortable? i see you have been to WDW many times, how did this resort compare?

I have also requested Martinique. Please let us know what you think the best room to request is!
Are you going to fax in your request?
:D

Hi Kid at Heart,

Martinique is a big section. Specify buildings 25 or 26. When I went in May, I asked for Martinique but failed to request a specific number. Well, they had me at the most remote (farthest away from Old Port Royale) section of Martinique. I asked for Jamaica 45 as an alternative (right across the footbridge from Old Port Royale) and got it. Jamaica 45 is a great location!

Have a good time!

Thanks for that info! I am going to fax my request & i will ask for building 25 -as that seems to be quite popular. I will not stay at a remote location we did that when we went to -then, Dixie Landings. I have no problem this time relocating if i don't get a good location first time. Our DS is 4.5 and he will only have a stroller in the parks, so it will be to difficult at a remote building.
Im going sooooooon and will be sure to update you when i get back. Cant wait:smooth: Any other info you have to offer would be fab!:jester:

We stayed in Jamaica last summer - 2nd floor room - short walk to the quiet pool - 5 minute walk to the main pool and food court. We also had a bus stop very near. The room had been newly renovated - lots of bright colors - new carpet - very nice. I really liked this area - bright yellow buildings with blue roofs. I had requested Aruba or Jamaica and the CM who checked us in told us that he always puts his family members in Jamaica when they visit...he was right, it was very nice!

I did feel that the quiet pool looked run down - cracked concrete, etc. They may have improved these areas by now.

Enjoy your stay!!!

Hi K at H!

The CBR will deliver an iron to your room, upon request And, we asked for a hair dryer the first day and kept it the entire visit. They didn't remove it or ask for its return during our stay - very nice.

Your 4.5 yr old child will love the slide in the main pool. Take a walk across the foot bridge with him - there's a "throne" chair there to sit on and listen to the Caribbean music playing.

Take time to loll on the hammocks - especially at night. Very relaxing!

The water mice boats are great fun and easy to drive. Take your child out for a ride - he will love it!

I love CBR - but only if I'm close to Old Port Royale! :) It's my daughter's favorite resort - she loves the beach.

Hope you have a wonderful time! Treat yourself to something tropical at the Banana Cabana!

Just wanted to add that not all corner rooms are king. 2 weeks ago stayed in Trinidad North 3308, corner with 2 doubles, 1st floor.

This was our first time staying at a Disney Moderate. The resort is beautiful with extremely well kept landscape. The room was nice, clean, fresh and spacious enough for our two adults, 5 yr old and 2 yr old.

There were two double/queen beds in our first floor corner room (4521 Jamaica). There is a curtain that separates the vanity area from the room. There are two sinks, but no closet, iron or hair dryer. But I really didn't want to iron on my vacation. Hair dryers and irons are available upon request from house keeping.

We normally stay at Disney Deluxes but we were not disappointed with this resort. The only thing is that the food court and drink dispensers are kind of far away from most of the buildings.

I would suggest you take a look at the CBR map, just to get an idea of what we're talking about when it comes to building location.

You should avoid Barbados and Trinidad South unless you like loooong walks! They are quite far from OPR and the main pool.
Our favorite bldg. is Trinidad North, which is the smallest village in CBR and hence the quietest. It is also very close to OPR. Just beware of Trinidad North #31, because that is a smoking bldg. Yuck.

As previously mentioned, the resort had been completely refurbished and everything is new and gorgeous! Our room last year was wonderful. (The year before that it was a little shabby).

We had a corner room in Trinidad North, #3248, and it has 2 doubles rather than a king. Very nice!

We'll be there again in Oct. Woo-hoo! ;)

Thanks - all this info is wonderful, i get excited when i see a response! I have ANOTHER question. Are there ice machines & where are they located - in the food court or individual buildings?
I just can't wait to goooooooo!!!

I know there are ice machines in each "village," and I suspect each building. You don't have to go to the food court for ice. I also think there was a soda vending machine next to the ice machine, but I didn't use that, so I'm not sure.

We never used the ice machines while there, but they are located behind the elevators for each building.

I have some pictures of the CBR main pool on my web site, click the link below if you'd like to see them :) I was just there a few months ago and it didn't look worn at all. :)
