Just read that CBR does not have elevators. Is that right? If so, is it an all ground level resort? Sorry for the dumb question but I cannot fathom a moderate resort without elevators.

I have someone in my party who will be in a wheelchair. If everything is single level that's fine. But otherwise I'll need to let the resort know we need ground level since mom cannot take the stairs.

Can anyone confirm this for sure (no elevators)? Even for us able- bodied folk I can't imagine lugging a stroller and luggage up flights of stairs.

no elevators and it is a 2 story resort. that is what I have read about the resort.

Nope.
It's the oldest moderate, and a design thought they did not repeat.
They are all two story buildings.
They have stairways.
It's one reason the resort is so spread out because all those rooms are in two story only buildings.

Asked for the disabled room and you get the ground floor

HA rooms really shouldn't be requested unless you actually need the HC adapted facilities in the room, such as a roll in shower. I am in a chair at WDW, but I do not need a HC room. We've stayed at all of the mods, and a phone call requesting a ground floor room due to a guest in a wheelchair (or ecv) is all that is required.

Yes, let the resort know that you require a first floor room for someone in a wheelchair. Get that noted on your reservation now. No need to book an HA room unless you need those features.

Enjoy your vacation!

Actually it was repeated, none of the buildings in the Alligator Bayou section of POR have elevators as they are only 2 stories also.

Yes but POR does have elevator buildings as an option. It is not an entire resort with stairs only.

I will agree if you are trying for a moderate that sleeps 5 (and don't want campground) then you are faced with buildings with no elevators and will need to discuss with reservations to secure a first floor room.

Just request a ground level floor. When we stayed at CBR in 2011 we had a wheelchair for my grandfather and two strollers so we requested ground level and there was no issue with being accomodated.

I've had 7 knee surgeries, I requested a first floor king room in either Jamaica or Aruba - got Aruba 5408 - a corner first floor king room -- opened up to a courtyard that was 100 yards from the bus stop!

Half their rooms are at ground level. Call WDW and have a notation put on your reservation that you have a party member in a wheelchair and you need to request a ground floor room.

Thanks to you all confirming what I read online, I did call and ask for a note to be put in our reservation regarding the medical condition. Appreciate everyone's input.

Your picture just reminded me I need to download the photos from my Wild Africa Trek!
