We are trying to decide between staying at POP or CBR. How are the busses between CBR and the parks? Do they stop at other hotels? I know POP has its own bus, but not sure about CBR.
Any other input would help!!
We are going mid-May.
Thanks!!

CBR does not share its busses with any other resort. The busses make 7 stops inside the resort and normally takes 10 minutes to cruise around to all 7. Some people look at the number of stops as a negative, but frankly I have never noticed a problem.

Times to the parks varies - you are at DHS before you know it, MK in about 15-20 minutes, Epcot 10-15 and AK 20 (because of distance from hotel). DTD is only 10 minutes away (only because of traffic).

Thanks for that info. We are really leaning toward CBR, I see you have stayed there quite a few times. Would you mind sharing any tips?!
Thanks again!!!

You are quite welcome. If you want to have not as long a walk to OPR, stay in Aruba 51-53 or Jamaica. It is just a short stroll across Castaway Cay to the main pool (when finished), the pool bar, gift shop and food court. The walk from bldg 51 to the Aruba bus stop is about 5 minutes. Trinidad North is poorly situated - you will probably hear all the busses coming and going plus everyone walking from Trinidad South. Stay away from Trinidad South unless you have no plans of walking to OPR.

Food court has some good choices - DW and I love rotisserie chicken. Shutters is ok if you want sit down and dont want to leave the resort. They have bicycles, surrey bikes, and watercraft for rent (if you are so inclined). There are numerous places to just grab a bench and just watch the world go by. The grounds are just spectacular and it is so peaceful. There is a shady spot near Aruba where there is a bench (it is a designated smoking area but there are other benches I believe) where you can sit and look back at OPR and it is just soooooooooooooooo peaceful.

Oh yeah - almost forgot - every night you get to see the fireworks that is a part of Illuminations. They come in three batches - first about 9:35, second around 9:45 and the finale at 9:50 - can't miss the finale!!!! The best place to see them is from the new boardwalk that runs behind the pool bar. It used to be the bridge from Castaway Cay to OPR, but with pool construction and the new boardwalk, the view must be better. (I have only seen pictures from Safetymom of the new boardwalk, but I just KNOW the view is better).

Speaking of Safetymom, check out her FAQ thread - very informative and tons of pictures.

Like someone mentioned, CBR has it's own bus, but there are several stops w/in the resort. If busses are a concern, I would recommend that you steer clear of a room in Trinidad South--it's the last stop and more times than not int he AM the bus is filled before it gets there and just bypasses it.
I have found from my experience, the bus service at CBR to be much better overall than that at Pop.

When will the pool be finished? I am thinking of going in November.

What is OPR?

What is OPR?

Pool refurb is scheduled to be complete in Sept.

OPR - Old Port Royal...the food court/gift shop/arcade, etc.

The pool will be nearly brand new in november. Im excited to see what they do with it. I imagine it will be quite nice, it wasn't bad last year so they must have something neat planned in order to invest in it.

The buses were good when I stayed at CBR. I also stayed in the Jamaica building. The walk to the bus stop was a minute maybe, it was about 5 to the food court, and it was across a nifty little island in the middle of the man made lake, the island was lush with greenery and there were benches and gazeebos to just sit and relax in.

One of my favorite things about this resort is the music. Very cool and added a lot to the theme. I also liked not having to ever go into the hotel lobby after check in, until check out. It made it feel a lot more personal. The lobby is in a building of its own, not connected to the food court or anything.
