Hello! I am a long time reader but this is the first time I have gotten brave enough to try asking a question. I am not totally computer literate yet but I am learning!! I have found this board soooo helpful.
Our family has visited WDW eleven times (twice off property then we got hooked to on-property) but we are preparing for our first Disney Cruise. We booked a land/sea package for June 17th - 24th. Our land portion includes a stay at CBR. We have previously stayed at the Contempoary Resort, Dixie Landings and Coronado Springs and we are a little anxious about staying at CBR. I have read both good and bad.
What I would like to know is how do I request a first floor room? Should I go through Disney direct or through AAA? This is the first we've booked through AAA because they offered us a better deal than our regular TA. We did ask to be assigned a village near Old Port Royale but I wasn't sure we could request a ground floor. I will be traveling with my DH and our beautiful 3 year old DGD (that is the abbreviation fro grand daughter right!)
One more quick question, our cabin # is 2586 and i read it may be a "noisy room". Has anyone here stayed in or near this room?
What are we in for?
Thank you all so much for all the info you all have provided!!!

First off, congrats for join the DIS, you'll love it here!!! Secondly, I want you to know that the two closest villages (Martinique and Trinidad North) to Old Port Royale are considered "preferred" rooms and require an additional charge of $15 per night to have a room assigned there. The next closest village is Jamaica, but it's approx a 10 minute walk to Old Port Royale from there, over the bridge across the lake. If you really want to be close to Old Port Royale, call your TA at AAA and see if you can reserve a preferred room at CBR as part of your package, it will guarantee you to be close to Old Port Royale. Also, in the same call, ask for a request to be added to your reservation that you would like a first floor room. If this is due to mobility issues (you can't or don't like to walk up/down stairs) make sure that is noted as well. It will help get your request if it is for a medical reason. Unfornately, since you've booked through a TA, all requests have to be placed through them, since they "own" the reservation and usually DCL won't talk to you directly about your resservation or add requests.

If you booked thru a travel agent, you have to make all your requests thru the agent...so call her and have her call disney and request your first floor room.

As to "noisy" cabins, we've never had a problem with ship noise, only with rude fellow cruisers. You can't predict that ahead of time. We never found the ship noise (engine, etc. ) to be a problem.

Thanks so much for the great info. I never realized there were preferred rooms/villages at CBR. I am calling AAA right now to place my request. I'm thrilled that i got your response so quickly. Thanks again.

CBR is a beautiful resort! I also recommend requesting a room near Old Port Royale, I feel it's worth the $$.

We've stayed in Martinique two times and I feel this is an excellent location.

I have several pictures of CBR on my web site, the link is below. :)

Dear SeaSpray,
Thanks for the information and for the great website link. I loved the pictures and all the info you provided along with them. You are making me feel much more at ease (about staying at CBR) and even more excited about our upcoming land/sea trip. I truly appreciate the time you spent sharing your photos and memories. I hope to do a trip report when we get back.
