CB regulars on other boards

Me, too.

I start on theme parks, go to resorts, sometimes restaurants, then budget, disney for families, transportation, the dvc forums, disneyland, sometimes disneyland trip reports, universal parks, universal resorts, community board. Just go on down the list to the things I'm interested in.

If it's a light homeschool day or I'm particularly fast at reading or I'm particularly bored (or trying to avoid housework), I'll do it again. And sometimes again. I like learning, I like helping...

I think it's odd when people will post on one board and say they should post elsewhere but it's scary there. Ignoring the fact that many of the people answering are on the other area, and would answer in the exact same way. I mean, sure, sometimes I avoid the CB and stay in my Disneyland forum bubble, but I think it's odd when I do it....

I tend to read via new posts, which shows everything from all the boards. Sometimes I respond and sometimes I don't. If it's a simple question I defer to the regulars on that particular forum. But if it's an interesting subject I'll participate. Occasionally I'll ask a question, like how long are the Christmas decorations going to be up till. Mostly though I lurk. I think the only boards most people are scared of is the community board, the budget board and until a recent housecleaning, the camping board. I do notice some boards are much more cliquey then others so I tend no to go there much.
All in all, I would say the community board is my home board.

What I find weird is when I run into people here that I have developed a friendship over on Facebook with.... I tend to forget where I met them in the first place :lmao:

Does this weird anyone else out???

I usually don't post on any of the other boards...I just really never have anything to say on those subjects.

But I usually lurk around the Theme Park boards and the others.

I think it is so trippy to see people who post here (on the CB) a lot post there too! As I'm reading through I'm like, "Hey! I know you!"

**Yes...it is a busy day for me for me today....:rotfl:

If you have nothing to say on the subject of Disney, why are you on the board that is devoted to Disney?

I feel like if I posted on another board they would think Im weird cause I have a paper bag on my head :confused3

I don't go to Disney either but found this board when I was interested in going. Now I visit for the info, news stories and TV conversations on the CB and the amazing bargains on the Budget board. It's not all about one subject, it's a community.

Sure there is lots of different information on here but it is a Disney related board. Even you admitted that it was Disney that brought you here.

She's probably like a lot of us.

She found the DIS because of a her interest in Disney, started reading here, and then came out of lurkdom to ask her own questions about Disney over on the Theme Parks board, Resort board, Restaurant board.

Then she started to answer questions other posters had about Disney.

Then she gradually quit needing to ask questions about Disney because she knew everything she needed to know in regards to her trips.

Then finally she got tired of answering the same questions over and over for other people about Disney.

Somehow over time, she got sucked into the CB to post about things not necessarily related to Disney.

As time went by, she began to find herself posting more and more on the CB about anything and everything. It became a daily, or hourly, habit.

But eventually, she'll start posting less and less. This could occur out of boredom, frustration, banning, "real life" interference, or a host of other things..

She'll find herself leaving the CB to check out some of the other DIS forums. Theme parks. Resorts. Podcast. Perhaps new things have happened with Disney, and she finds she has new questions. (That's possibly how she's now serendipitously spotting CB posters on other DIS forums).

Then she may even stop coming here at all - either to the CB or to the DIS as a whole. Oh, she may pop in now and again. But it will no longer be a daily habit.

And that, my friends, is the life-cycle of your average DISboards Community Board poster :).

:thumbsup2 Perfect!

I post on all the forums on the Disboard. Im not loyal to any particular forum. I tend to gravitate towards the dumb posts, and that usually leads me to ..... well, nevermind

Personally I stick around for the witty banter and the lack of judgment others express. :lmao:

If that were the case, why would she be surprised to see people from the CB on other boards? I find it hard to believe that people find the community board first and never post on the other forums. Afterall, the CB isn't like it used to be.

Did she say she posted on the CB from the get-go and never posted anywhere else even in the beginning? Maybe she did and I missed it.

Regardless, I can easily see how people could end up here on the CB without the Disney connection. Over the years I have done a search on several completely non-Disney topics before only to have a DIS CB thread be one of the first places Google lists for me. That could easily land someone here as a poster.

Besides that, I actually know what she means, although "weirded out" is an exaggeration. I've been here for years, and it still sometimes surprises me to happen across a post by someone I think of as a "CB poster" posting on other DIS forums. It's like someone compared it to seeing your teacher out in public. It's rarely earth-shattering, but it can just make me think "Huh", or "Oh yeah, the CB is the DIS", or maybe even "Whoa". But if for instance I saw the Podcast crew suddenly posting just normal stuff on the CB, I'd think I was in the Twilight Zone.

I doubt the podcast crew even realizes there are other forums on the board. :lmao:
